I bought a set of this Corelle dinnerware as part of a deal here four months ago to replace our Maxwell & Williams White Basic crockery and I've never looked back! Since buying I've had no cracks, chips or breaks. They keep their cool in the microwave, and take half the space in our dishwasher and cupboards, effectively doubling the capacity of both.

  • Are you saying you put two dishes per rack in your dishwasher to double the space?

    • +1

When I used the White Basics I had to use the wider spaced dividers in the dishwasher, now I can use the closer dividers, based on the same amount of food residue.

I just measured them to make sure, 3 White basic dinner plates stack as high as 9 Corelle dinner plates, and as they are thinner they take less dishwasher space.

A minus that might not have been mentioned, one of my kids complains how the food can slide around on the plates.

  • Anyone know which country these are made from?

On their Amazon Brand page in the bottom left they have a "Made in the USA" logo.
      Web searching finds this: https://www.safekitchn.com/is-corelle-made-in-the-usa/

IS CORELLE MADE IN THE USA?
Is Corelle made in the USA
Absolutely yes, all Corelle patterns and models which include Corelle Portofino, Corelle County, and Corelle frost white are proudly made in the USA but Corelle mugs and Corelle Stoneware dishes are made in China but with the same standard of the Corelle dishes made in the USA.

Corelle Brands are pretty happy to say that they're "made in the USA", and from my reading, they have manufacturing in NY State.

I'm a big fan of the IKEA OFTAST range. Dirt cheap (less than $1, except for the large bowl). Won't comment on toughness except to say I haven't had one chip… yet.

    • IKEA ones are very good for the price.

  • Has anyone experienced the Corelle explosion as described in this thread:

    https://www.complaintsboard.com/corelle-dishes-explosive-pla…

I am thinking of getting a set, but a bit hesitant after reading so many reports of explosions on the Internet.

    • We had out sets for a very long time and would get them again.

Maybe ten years ago, we had one plate explosively shatter when dropped from about bench height. It sent tiny slivers all over the kitchen. We had other items drop from a similar height bounce repeatedly before settling intact. Overall, nothing worth complaining about.

I dropped a Corelle bowl last night and it shattered everywhere.
When they break, they shatter into tiny shards. I'm now down to 2 out of 4 bowls now!

Still, I'd say they put up with a lot more than normal bowls, just that when they do break, they shatter.

    • Had them for 20 years and none have randomly exploded.

They make a mess when they break, but thats normal with any plates.

This is not an amazing price, but still better than the 4 day outlet sale Corelle/Instant Brands had at Alexandria, NSW last weekend - just completely awful pricing there (12pcs same style at $49).

  • Great plates! We’ve paired them with the Otfast IKEA range, similar feel/quality. Would’ve just bought the IKEA plates but find the edges of them to be rounded too soon, so takes away from the plate size!

Cheers, been waiting for Corelle to go on special. My oldies still have some from 40yrs ago!
