Apple MacBook Air 13.6" M2 8-Core CPU/GPU 16/256GB $1327 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ In-Store/ C&C/ OnePass) @ Officeworks

1270

Looks like Officeworks is first to the party with reasonable discount on 16GB variants of the Macbook Airs. This is for 16GB Unified RAM and 256GB storage.

JB Hi Fi also seems to have the same pricing.

M3 8/256 for $1517 and M3 16/512GB is also available for $1817, but the value isn't as good as the base M2 model.

Price match at Apple and use gift cards for an extra 10% off

Here's the apple product link: https://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-mac/macbook-air/13-inch-m2

    • Where do you get gift cards from?

      • Either Woolworths/Coles promotions for extra points that people equate for real money, even though you have to spend them at the retailer. Macquarie used to be good but don't seem to sell them now.

    • How does Apple price beat work? Do they just match the price to whatever price online?

      • +1

From my experience, they'll at most go to 10% matching, they won't discount further (so they probably won't fully match this price)

        • Are they able to match with the Apple Education Store prices as well if you're a uni student?

    • Does Apple Store price match? Last year for BF I recall they were giving a $200 apple voucher with Macbook purchases.

    • Didn’t think Apple price matched. I’ve bought some Apple gift cards and would love it if this was the case!

  • Hope to see M2 prices going down more

    • Hope they'll have another Apple OW clearance sale. I am still using the iPad Pro M1 2Tb they sold for cheap last time

      • How cheap is cheap?

        • They were selling it for 40% less than other retailers who still had it in stock. Can't compare it with Apple as they stopped selling M1s iPad when M2 Pro was out

      • +1

I bought the same discounted iPad Pro M1. Great buy at the time.

        • Was waiting for the same M2 discount but they never repeated it

  • +18

Costco have it for 1299.99 just got this price beat with officeworks :)
    https://www.costco.com.au/Computers/Laptops/Apple-MacBooks/M…
    $1234.99

To also add M3 16/256GB is 1499.99 at costco so $1,424.99 with OW price beat

    • Generally speaking do you need proof of costco membership to price match with them?

      • +1

no do it over the phone

        • Same here.

        • Can you then use ultimate GC to pay for it?

        • Can i then purchase 10% GC and use them too?

          • +1

@killabob: No, payment over the phone is card only from what they told me.

            • @fire555: What if i try instore price beat?

              • @killabob: Yeah I have used gift cards instore after a price beat before. Obviously you have to risk getting the gift cards in advance.

      • +1

No as long as the product is online you can price beat. I did it recently in store

    • +2

      Great find!

    • +2

Thank you, just went to the nearest officeworks and got an M3 for $1424.

      • thanks for comment. got mine just like you

      • You price matched in store?

        • +1

I called them first and confirmed they'd price beat. As I was not comfortable handing over my credit card number over the phone, I headed to the store and had to show the Costco price again to get it beaten with 5%.

    • +3

Can confirm this works, did a price beat over the phone for the same amount.

      • worked for me

  • Why would I buy this over a Microsoft Surface?
    Genuine responses only.

    • +2

It makes more sense if you’re in the Apple ecosystem. Continuity camera, iPhone mirroring, iPad screen extension, airdrop, air pods sharing, iPad apps, internet sharing etc are all major use cases for me

    • +3

Because Apple has optimized MacOS to run smoothly on its own ARM architecture (AArch64). It’s just too seamless that even x86 MacOS apps are emulated well and fast with Rosetta 2. Low power consumption is a bonus as well.

Probably the only reason you’ll be getting the Surface is if you’re going to game. Windows has the better game stack for now, but this advantage also fizzles if you’re gaming using an Intel iGPU.

      • My only dip into the mac ecosystem was 2012 with a MBP - Strangely enough I feel like I need to give MacOS another try or it could just be the general mediocrity quality of deals posted and the inertia from black friday sales fomo.

I would more than likely boot mint off it and I know I'd never end up with any other apple devices. Convince me this is the time to jump ship.

        • I wouldnt buy a macbook to run linux on it - I haven't tested recently but you lose out on battery life and some hardware support

    • +1

may be the life you can extract out of a macbook without any considerable drop in performance?

    • +1

A current surface with a snapdragon? A more mature ARM based platform

An older surface with intel/AMD? an ARM based platform. It's no joke how much of a difference it makes for mobile computing.

      • This is the most valid response! Stay away from ARM unless you know for a fact it's supporting what you'll use it for.

    • +1

It is up to you and your use case.
If you already familiar with Microsoft environment, you may not need this. But overall, the new Apple microchip since M1 beat Intel and AMD in term of power and efficiency.
If you are designer, video editor, or programmer, you'll find it necessary to migrate from Windows to macOS.
But if you use android, not working in the creative industry, and didn't have other apple products, Surface will be better option in term of price.

    • Battery life and overall device life I would say.

    • All depends on app compatibility and OS requirements

    • you could buy the 4 year old m1 and it would probably outlast a brand new Surface pro without any considerable drop in performance

    • Try it yourself, you can return it if you don’t like it.

M2/16/256 is the exact same config Linus uses sometimes to release the Linux kernel :)

damn wish the 512 was a bit more reasonable in the pricing :( …. was waiting for a sale on one for my daughter who was saving up and i have kept her waiting until the 16gb models became somewhat reasonable but that's a huge jump for 256gig extra .. frikin apple

    • +4

are you me?? Exact thoughts mate. Waiting for M3/16/512 and its still $100 more than the previous deal. However, can smell some discounts in the air. Believe there will be some in the coming days for this model. Patiently waiting.

      • I hope so… doubt my daughter will care but i don't want to pay for that crappy M2 gen 256gig SSD where they messed up the implementation and it was shit house speed vs the original m1 ssd.. anyway if push comes to shove this is alright price for an apple lol

        • nah, BF sales around the corner. Give it 2-3 days and I am sure M3/16/512 will further reduce.

        • so stay away from M2 256gb models?

          • @stormster: Not necessarily, if it's for light use I wouldn't worry. If there aren't any better deals I'll probably get it for my daughter… Id also prefer a bigger drive so she doesn't have to worry for good long while but the price jump is just too high..

            • @scud70: Yeah I'd prefer 512gb for sure. Any idea how much the Apple OS takes on that 256gb drive? Either way it seems so small.

  • +1

$1252.35 if you buy from Apple AOC ($1,391.50) with 10% gift cards

    20x EDR
    Big W - Starts Tomorrow
    Woolworths - Ends Tomorrow

    • +1

      Is this still an issue?

      • don't think so, a friend just ordered from AOC this week with GC

  • Do you know guys for how much could be 1year old Air M1 8GB 256GBssd sold?

    • +2

They seem to be around the $600-800 range on FBM. Note that they hover around $800 on places like Reebelo depending on condition with 12 months warranty and 14 day change of mind returns so you’ll need to either price that in or wait and hope for a sucker

    • I am looking for a m1for my daughters school next year, holding out for a decent one for $600 if you want to sell

      • Yeah, It's my daughter's school mac, I think I'll try to get one more year out of it and see what is available next year.
Paying $700 for extra 8GB ram and slightly newer CPU she doesn't need is too much right now.

  • +1

Thank you, just went to the nearest officeworks and got an M3 for $1424.

    • -1

      exact model and specs please

      • Apple MacBook Air 13.6" M3 8-Core CPU/GPU 16/256GB

  • Thank you. Finally bit the bullet and picked up an m3.

  • Thank you. Also got the M3 for $1424. good price and looks like the SSD on the M3 is better than M2.

  • +2

    This maybe the best deal right now;

    Domayne has
    the M3 for $1517
    https://www.domayne.com.au/apple-macbook-air-13-inch-m3-16gb…

    the M2 for $1327
    https://www.domayne.com.au/apple-macbook-air-13-inch-m2-16gb…

But the kicker is Bonus 10% in Gift Cards.
Would workout to be $1365+$151 gift card and $1194+ $132.7

Better than the Officeworks Cosco price match. ($40ish better) Though the gift card is probably only good in Domayne, but enough to buy some cases or accessories.

They have Bonus 10% on selected products too, I did not read the details.

Stores or stock availability maybe an issue though.

Maybe HN will follow the deal tomorrow?? There are more stores, not that I shop there almost never. I have seen a simular deal before for mobile phones. The businesses are related.

    • How do you get 10% discount?

      • Not a discount as such, bonus 10% value in gift card with purchase for you to spend there.
Specifically spend $1327 for the item, you get the item and the extra gift card of 10% of the purchase price. So you get an extra $132 to spend which is decent.

Problem is instore stock I think, can purchase online though with postage.

        • +1

Ok, I just read your comment as "you pay $1194 and also get $132.7 gift card"

So, looks like the best value would be to buy 6x$200 celebrations gift cards next Wed at Coles for $1080, and use it to pay in officeworks for price-matched M2 + $35 cash, would be $1115 then (given both Officeworks and Costco still have the stock)

          • +1

@interlocal: Yes, given there is stock. Think of this way, not everyone is after a Macbook Air with all the sales going on, may get lucky. Good luck.
Also not everyone is after the M2 older model if the newer one is close to the same price.

  • Cost appears to have dropped price another $10 for the M2 version.
Stock getting low? Save another 50c at OW with price beat.

    • That's 8GB versions though

      • Yeah I saw that later, I see other sellers like OW, etc hide the fact they are 8GB, or you need to look very hard. I think this model will drop much further for clearance.

  • Costco ran out of silver, is it possible to price match grey first & return to Officeworks for silver?

  • +1

Just from officeworks, got it price-matched with costco (to $1234.99) and paid with $200 Celebrations gift cards from Coles that I bought with 10% discount.
So, the cost to me is $1234.99*0.9 = $1,111.49
Not sure if I get 5x flybuys points from onepass, if yes - then it should be additional $30.85 of value, getting costs down to $1080.64

Much better deal than Apple black friday

    • Price matched too soon it seems, Cosco dropped another $30, so it's another $28 if price beat. (yes it is the 16GB/256GB model).
Anyway no too bad price at all.

  • Cosco seems OOS of M2 16GB/256GB model now.

  • Has the price changed now??
