Burned through a couple rolls this weekend on my P1S. Quality seems to be comparable to Sunlu/Jayo rolls I've had for the most part

    • Newbie here. What sort of prints are taking a eating up so much filament? Masks are parts of cosplay costumes?

      • I'm still very new to the world of 3D Printing also, but this particular print was the AMS Riser (https://makerworld.com/en/models/19535)

        • Did you manage to get it all printed ok? Just reading through some comments…

          • +1

@Orrelljet: I printed one of the remixed versions using BL filament (as it was before I came across Jayo/Sunlu/Sidd), without any issues

@Orrelljet: Majority has printed nicely - I still have to print the second back piece as Part 4 came out quite messy under the support. I sanded it down and made it look better, and it's a part of the print I won't often see if ever, but still annoys me. Very similar look to that first comment. So the two main solutions I've seen are:

            • Change support to tree but it may still have smaller similar issues
            • There's a remix with flat back pieces that require zero supports.
        • I've opened it in Bambu Studio and saw that some parts are using over 500g in filament. Thanks for responding.

      • I print resin statues and I print bases with X1 carbon and PLA. usually 1/4 scale statue's bases weigh 300g to 800g.

    • I'm considering starting my own print shop and was considering buying 2 or P1S, do you recommend them?

      • I’ve only had mine for a couple weeks but printing itself has been pretty good. A couple small hiccups along the way but that’s 3D Printing. The AMS arrived faulty sadly, and despite trying many fixes nothing would get it working. Had to purchase a new one which will be refunded once the old one is sent back. New one arrived today and is printing perfectly straight away. Definitely recommend.

  • Thanks folks

  • Thanks, works if you choose a mix of colours too. edit: just realised that you mentioned this in the description. Cheers

I am very new and keen to buy a basic 3d printer and filaments to print some hot wheels custom track parts.

Any suggestions how to get started with?

The Bambu A1 and P1S printers are great as they’re pretty much plug and play and doesn’t require any manual tuning. They’re also on sale right now.

      • Hi ABF. If you don't mind me jumping in, I have been looking at the Bambu models for my ten year old. Do you think an A1 mini would be a good first machine over the A1? Also do 3D printers have many running costs? He would like to attempt to make his own Lego Minifigs and action figures.

        • +1

Not ABF, but A1 mini is a great, easy to use, beginner-friendly machine.

Running costs aren't much, but filament is where you'll spend most of your money ongoing.

If you're looking to do Lego/figure, printing a smaller nozzle than stock (0.2mm) is probably a good idea!

@Pipersaurus: Yes, filament is by far the biggest expense for these things, but it's far less than I expected it to be when I got into it.

i.e. it's not the inkjet printer model, it's pretty reasonable.

        • +1

The A1 Mini would be an excellent choice but the A1 isn’t that much more expensive if you want a larger print area for larger things later on. The main expense would just be the filament.

@AngryBlobFish: Thanks all for your replies and input. Even though the A1 is not that much more I think I will pull the trigger on the AI mini and if he is getting a lot of use out of it and wanting to do bigger projects I'll look at upgrading to the P1 down the track.

            • @Alias2000: Also I noticed Amazon is about to put them on sale, I guess for the same price as their official store but won't have to cover shipping.

              • +1

@Alias2000: Unlikely. Amazon normally sells them on 'sale' for the same price as the bambu store + shipping + amazon tax.

  • All PETG out of stock… lame.

    Thanks OP.

    10x Color: High Speed PLA-Grey / 1KG comes to $91.20

Next cheapest I could find was $114.40 for 10kg (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155876023288) or $100.79 random colour (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/156306485965)

Any cheap ABS, or ASA, as well?

    • Thanks for the links - wanted a bunch of random colours and $10/kg is a bargain.

      Almost worth a post itself.

  • Do you think they ship auspost? I shipped to my parcel collect by mistake and half the time they refuse to ship there and send back to seller. Stupid auspost

    • Can confirm my two seperate orders of 10 rolls came with Aus Post to Perth both times

  • Cardboard spools?

  • +1

FYI for anyone buying these in future - my AMS really does not like the cardboard spools Anycubic are using with these rolls. Chewed up the rubber rollers and frequent issues retracting the filament due to slippage (I assume). The edges are coated/sealed, but doesn't seem to be as durable as eSun/Elegoo coating.

    • As an addition to this for anyone reading, I used this for the AMS lite (https://makerworld.com/en/models/708283) and in my searching came across this which may help for the AMS: https://makerworld.com/en/models/645259 - there were a few similar ones so there may be a solution somewhere

      • Yeah I just put painters tape on the edges which fixes it. I'd rather not have to do anything to get these to work though. The core doesn't fit on bambu spools either so this is the only solution
