    Or Battlemage?

      Or Battlemage?

      Battlemage is dead :/

yeah the guy who constantly kept calling even Arc dead and you still believe him

Why do you follow conspiracy channels?

        • I mean..it still checks out. He did say Battlemage might come out but it is just leftovers of the Intel GPU program. There is no major continued development of it.

          • +1

@goodwillN1: yeah Arc is so dead you can still buy it, why are you defending him? He literally said it wont come out and it did

Intel spoke about Battlemage already and said development is going well and if Battlemage is being developed you think the next one Celestial is just on pause and they do nothing?

            • @Freestyle: Completely unrelated to the YouTube guy, Intel is in serious trouble funding/dev wise. They need to pile heaps of cash into catching up on the GPU front on desktop, and because they aren't really in the AI space they don't have the huge cash to do it.

In the consumer space we desperately need more options, so I really hope battlemage comes out and is absolutely amazing…but I'm not entirely sure.

        • Why do you follow conspiracy channels?

I get info from all channels, whether some internet rando calls it "conspiracy" (based on only their say so) or not ;)

Your credibility is shot unless you can post a link with information saying Battlemage is on track and will actually run every game (unlike the current ARC cards) … feel free to actually contribute something to the information out there …

Otherwise it just looks completely like Intel fanboism and hopium!

          • @7ekn00: yeah says the guy who is quoting Moore’s Law is Dead as his source

you think you have any credibility left?

            • @Freestyle: Nice link to more relevant info, thanks for your awesome contribution !!

              • @7ekn00: you can search for yourself if you can bear to get out of your conspiracy channels

                • @Freestyle: Nah, I prefer to get my information from know it all fanbois!! They are always right :P

                  • @7ekn00: yeah thats exactly why you follow Moore’s Law is Dead and call him credible, good job

                    • @Freestyle: Nah, randos on the internets are far more credible, just ask them, or yourself :P

By the way, since you are the self proclaimed expert, how well does ARC run Civilization V, Evil Dead, Far Cry 3 or 4, Overwatch 2, Trackmania (2020)?!?

                      • @7ekn00: ask your conspiracy channel

                        • @Freestyle: I feel like I need to return to this thread in 5 years to see who was the real dummy here…

                          • @Binchicken22: That conspiracy channel Moore’s law is dead already said Intel Arc would never come and its dead then it came and worked pretty well, so who do you think has the better track record?

Battlemage will come within 6 months

did you know the laptop chips already use the technology, why on earth would they cancel it this late?

      • Do you feel dumb yet?

    • +1

I'm not sure holding for the 50 series if you want a 60 level card is a good idea.

They could be forever away and who knows what improvements them actually bring

There's someone on FBMP selling a 4060 Ti for $360, brand-new no box.

don't buy this garbage. had a Galax GeForce RTX 2060s 1-Click OC for $550 from a PC part shop in Hornsby during Covid lock down (forgot the shop name, now it is closed and belong to Umart/MSY) was the cheapest 2060s I can find. whereas it own OC software shows that it only had 5G vram instead of 6G. .with such a poor performance in 2K low setting still go blackscreen just after 3 years out of warranty

    • I never had any trouble with my Galax RTX 2060. I only recently swapped it out for a 3060.

    • 2060 during lockdown for $550 lmao

      • I paid $600 for a 2nd hand 2060 in 2021 :(

    • +3

Yes, your one experience must be the general concensus.

Galax is fine, most video cards share the same manufacturing lines in the same factories. They all follow the same Nvidia requirements.

      • No they are not.
Only low end cards from tier 3 brand share the same manufacturing line from same factories in Taiwan/China.
Asus/MSI/Gigabyte and Sapphire all manufactured by their own factories.

  • Does anyone recommend 4060 ti ? I'm not a huge gamer, just building an intel PC for home-based education (programming and AI), bit of productivity and a bit of gaming. I'm also interested in VR, but not sure yet if I will invest in a VR system.

    • +3

No one really has recommended the 4060ti since it launched… Gaming wise it was barely better than the 3060ti it replaced, the 8gb vram combined with a 128bit bus speed just crippled it in some games to be worse than its predecessor. Only look at the 16gb version but I'd not waste my money on either.

I can't comment on its Ai performance or productivity but def need the higher vram versions to be useful.

Also very interested to know why you chose an intel based system… It's a bit out of the ordinary considering how strong AMDs line up is even for productivity.

Interesting, the videos I've seen showed the 4060 GPUs were getting a fair bit more fps than the 3060 GPUs. I agree the 8GB vram and downgraded bus speed are disappointing. I don't think it's worth spending the money on the 16GB version when 4070 is practically the same price. This is really moving out of my budget range.

I got a good deal on an i5-13400f. And I have a bit of knowledge of intel chips based on previous computers I've owned or used. I have little knowledge of AMD chips, and still don't know which ones are equivalent to which intel chips. The intel chip I chose seemed to have more cores than the same priced AMD chips. I also checked that it's not one of the chips affected by the voltage issue that affects some 13th/14th generation intel CPUs.

        • +1

Unfortunately most the lower model entries from both AMD and nvidia were rubbish value (this particular generation), there is "Some" improvement in performance but not above the level the price rose by. Just saying if you are mainly going to do Ai stuff then the vram will matter but i can't comment on the cards performance itself other than nvidia is the only good option for that type of productivity workload.

That's a good chip and makes sense for what you are using it for, AMD doesn't really take part at the entry level anymore other than offer you better prices on their older chips so the 13400's etc make for good options in that segment, and yeh at the lower wattage means the voltage issue's shouldn't be a problem.

  • Yikes, my dyslexic mind read that as 4080 and my heart skipped a beat lol

    • Same!!!

Note the 50 series Geforce to be announced in JAN 2025 (Confirmed) and Intel Battlemage GPU announcement DEC 2024(confirmed). AMD might also be Computex early next year for next Gen cards. If you can HOLD might be worth it. Retailers might start to drop prices soon.

    • As usual the release of new gen card will start with 90 series then go down all the way to entry level cards. So the ones in the market for this 4060 won't find any card they want in Jan next year. More likely Jan 2026 lol

  • how can you tell if this is low profile? I am planning to stick a 4060 into a dell 7070 business desktop

    • +2

This one won't fit into a 7070. Usually low profile gpu will be 200mm or less and "low profile" in title. The Galax here is 250mm length

    • There are only 2 low profile 4060s, a Gigabyte and an Asus. You might need to upgrade your PSU too. There'll definitely be a guide or two on YouTube if you scout around
