What phones can you actually trade in though?

  • +1

    Lmao Nty S21 Ultra 256 GB $256

  • +3

IMO, the trade in value is about 50-60% less than a private sale for an excellent condition phone. This is still a good deal if your phone has dents and significant scratches but is still working.

  • No pixel 9 pro?

  • -1

lol Tensor SOC cant even hold a candle to SD8G3 and Dimensity 9300, and with Snapdragon 8 Elite phones around the corner as well as Dimensity 9400, Tensor will be only at the level as lower tier Dimensity and Snapdragon SOC.

Imagine by the time the phone is a few years old, Android updates for these phones will either be gimped or most AI features will be run off the cloud.

I am thinking to buy iPhone 6 or Samsung galaxy s8 from the facebook market place and trading that in :D Maybe it will cost me $100. so I will get net $500 for fold 9.

  • You can get $900 back if you trade in a pixel 6 pro for a fold on the Google store

Oh wow, it changed. It was $900 just a couple of days ago!

My brother in law got 600 for his 6 Pro when he got the 9 Pro a couple of weeks ago.

Must be because of the black friday ones coming that they changed it?

      • Back up to 900 because of the black friday deals

      • +1

But the google store price 2699 for 256gb. 2197 at OW. Am i missing anything.

        Google: 2699 - 900 = 1799
        OW: 2197 - 200 (Trade-in value) - 600 Bonus = 1397

    • +1

My 6 pro in good condition $107 🤣

      • Back up to 900 because of the black friday deals

        • Where? On office work its $600
On google its $1000 but we trade pixel 8 pro.

          • @Ali Rao: Google store, showing 900 for my 6 pro if I want the fold.

        • i don't have 6 pro. ….sad

Moorup is excessively slow and if you have bonus trade in credit it will be delayed on purpose until the last possible day to be issued. Not worth it unless it’s amazing value.

    • +2

I traded in with JB and OW. Agreed that Moorup is much slower

  • The Pixel 9 will be $1047 there soon so if you can find a phone with a $5 trade in value you will get $250 back, bringing it down to $800!

Seems good value to me, but the main selling point of the phone is AI features that use a lot of battery which is not what I'm after, personally.

    • S8 and iphone xs

  • damn wish this was for the iphones

  • I would wait to see what Google store has to offer for black friday

    • Its there now. Not appealing though

      • Yup

  • How long does the trade in take? I wonder if I can get the gift card before I buy Pixel 9 XL

    • +1

      very unlikely with moorup.

      • I tried their instant gift card option and was able to use the gift card amount during my purchase.

Just need to provide a debit/credit card for that purpose (I use a card specifically for online shopping and put $600 for my $550 trade in).

The only annoying part was that I was sent two gift cards $500+$50, and can't use them together online, and had to visit a retail shop to do it.

        • Maybe it was different then… but the officeworks one was painful.

          • @Whodis: Update: I mailed my old phone like 2 days ago and today Moorup Trade-In has confirmed that the trade in was done.

So it was indeed very fast..

            • @Freddies: Weird, all the bonus iPhone ones from September took like 4 weeks

  • How this this OW Bonus gift card offer work?
Is that right I need to order Pixel XL online first. Then do the trade in after purchasing and submit the claim ? When will I get gift card back ?

Or I order pixel and can get instant gift card for the pixel purchase ?

Or I do trade-in first and get phone trade in and bonus gift card. And then use that to purchase pixel in OW ?

    Thank you !

What I did were as follows:
      1. I visited the trade in website of Officeworks and started my request
      2. Followed the prompts and finished ID verification
      3. Requested an instant Gift Card by providing my shopping only debit card information (I only put enough money inside)
      4. Chose "I will fill in my Officeworks invoice later" and you would receive an email with a link
      5. Got the instant gift cards and redeemed it via Prezzee
      6. Converted the gift cards into officeworks ones (this was the painful part, for example, if your trade in value was $456, you got $400+$50+$6, 3 gift cards..)
      7. Used these Officeworks gift cards in a retial store to place an order (online is possible, but you could only use 1 gift card per transaction)
      8. Sent the invoice from Officeworks to Moorup Trade-In via the emailed link in step 4.

Suprisingly, my trade-in took only 2 business days including the delivery process and I am happy about it.

      • Thank you for your instruction! That is very clear.
For step 6, Can I convert Prezzee gift to other shops such as Woolworth or Amazon rather than Officeworks gift cards?

        • Just put my trade-in through, it can only be swapped for OW gc.

        • No you can't. They are essentially Officeworks gift cards but you have to do the conversion to make them work.

In theory, the conversion shouldn't be needed, but if you assume officeworks will offer you a universal gift card, you have some unrealistic expecation.

        My phone value is $5.
I am interested in the $600 office work discount.

So at which point will i get that gift card?
The steps you wrote seems like you only got to trade in $456 of your phone.
As per the deal. If i buy pixel 9 pro fold. I will get $600 off (or gift card) if i trade in any eligible device. And eligible device is any device were moorup gives a trade in value.

        I am bit confused

        • to be clear, you can't use the $600 bonus credit to buy the new device - you get your trade-in value instantly and can use that for the purchase but only get the bonus credits after you've actually bought the device.

          • @slipmat: yes, so i can use the bonus credit to buy anything from Officeworks. but unfortunately, it cant be use for the same mobile because I have to pay in advance,

        • The bonus gift card will only send you when you finish your purchase of Pixel phone and your trade-in.

The bonus is obvisouly for your future purchases at Officeworks, not a direct discount of your current purchase.

        • Google store also offering some bonus credits for trade in. For example, trade in a Pixel 8 Pro and get $1,000 trade in if you purchase Pixel Fold

  • Is the trade in website broken for anyone else? It keeps redirecting me back to the listing page when I select my phone.

  • Man, so many steps - if the just gave me the $535 for my pixel 8 pro, + the $400 bonus, I'd just go and buy the pixel 9 pro xl, but they make it so much hassle. I don't want to end up with a $400 OW gift card sitting around at the end :(

    • same feeling here. I guess that is what will happen.
As for the redirecting, the morup officework link does that after hours. at least with me,

    • They are not going to sell you a newly released phone with a direct $900 discount in 2 months

      • It's not a direct $900 discount, it's a trade in for the top model of the previous generation. In essence, you're still spending $600 or so, and getting a somewhat marginal upgrade. Then they'll flip your device for $750 or so and be $1350 up

  • I can't get past the Moorup verification page (step 2) - it completes via veriff.me, officeworks.moorup.com.au says "thanks" and returns back to teh verification page.

    • Turns out you need to take photos of originals, not even a scanned-in image on a 4k display will do.

      • i just did mine. now paying for order.
