  • I get a zillion birds in my bird bath, but they won't touch any food I give them like this stuff from Woolworths. They have no interest in it at all.

maybe put the yellow discount ticket on them. the real Ozbargain birds will swoop in.& clean up..The rest can wait for their smashed avo on wholemeal sourdough.

    • What are you trying to feed dried dead meal worms to?

Seed eating birds won't eat them.

And insectivores like magpies turn up their nose at them because they are dead and dried.

      • I've tried sunflower seeds as well in the past, but they won't touch them either. It's weird because the seed is right near the bird bath and there are always tons of birds in the bath all day long.

        • I depends on the species of birds, and what their beaks are evolved to deal with. They don't have teeth to chew things up.

Sunflower seeds are in shells. The bird has to be able to break open the shell to get at the seed. Pointy beak birds can't do that. Parrots, like cockatoos, corellas, galahs and cockatiels can, and they love sunflower seeds. They are candy to them. Similarly they can eat nuts, because they have beaks that can systematically demolish them. But birds that normally suck nectar or eat insects can't. So if I put out a dish of bird seed with a side serve of sunflower seeds, the pigeons eat the bird seed, and the parrots eat the sunflower seeds then the bird seed. And the ducks wolf down everything in the dish, but the sunflower seeds are wasted on them because they are sealed in their shell.

Bird species all have a preferred diet, but most of them will actually eat pretty much anything that their beak design can deal with.

    AI Identify Bird Species

So if its not a bird, will it get punched in the face

    • That would have been my question.

So, it identifies the bird's species - I can do that. But then what does it do? Feed some species and not others? I'd happily pay a lot more than that to be able to put something out to attract some species, but starve the damn pigeons that anything you put out attracts by the hundreds.

      • It's a remote birdwatching experience - your phone gets pinged that xyz bird has come by and videos to show it. If that doesn't appeal then this product isn't for you.

          • @cski: on the blue version, yes.
blue looks odd in the garden.
the green one is still the same but I agree, they should not do that.

does it identify the inevitable rat species that come after birdie bedtime?

  • But does it have netflix?

  • It cost $99 a year to use the ai feature they quote

They mention the requirement half way through the essay of an ad description
