nbn 100/40 $70/Month for 1st 6 Months, 250/25 $77/Month, 1000/50 $91/Month @ Neptune

945

I’ve never heard of Neptune before and found them through an ad on Instagram.

  • 50/20 $63/Month, doesn’t seem like an especially good price.
  • 100/40 $70/Month first 6 months
  • 250/20 $77/Month
  • 1000/50 $91/Month

Neptune seems to be a new provider who claims to focus on privacy and security.

Free inclusions:

  • Free static IPV4 address
  • Claims to include 2 “quantum resistant” VPN tunnels
  • DNS sinkhole that blocks ads, trackers and speeds up loading

Primary POP is in Melbourne.
Their FAQs are pretty transparent about utilisation and latency rates for different states and internationally.

I’m currently on AGL 100/20 for $69 which was the cheapest I could find so the extra 20 upload for $1 more seems like a great deal.

WHOIS of the domain name shows the owner is Recloud Pty Ltd.

This isn’t gumtree where you can advertise an expression of interest then jack the price if there’s too much demand. Great way to ruin your reputation.

Just a heads up that they're not currently a member of the TIO scheme as is legally required, so if you have issues with the service the TIO will not be able to assist until they join

This is huge. Absolutely would not trust these guys.

I told them over chat and they pretty much said "You're right, we're working on it" .. surely this should be something done before or as soon as you launch?

  • @mesge nbn changed the FTTC to FTTP speed from 250/25 to 100/20. Update your site.

They jacked their pricing up so this is no longer a deal and incredibly dishonest. Don't trust this company.

    • agreed. they ruined their rep in 10mins

How so? They did not post this here, someone else did. Everyone who signed up at the old price got it including the free period. They told everyone here the price went up within a few minutes of doing so… I bet when they set that price up they expected a few customers a month, not the OzBargain hordes all in one day.

TBH if you put anything up on a public facing website you should be prepared to handle scale.

If their business model isn't sustainable / driven by loss leading promos you can expect them to be belly up within a year.

No one is looking for "security focused NBN" - NBN has become a commodity and it is a race to the bottom.

        • I’m only pretty new to NBN having ditched home internet back when adsl was the only option here for mobile internet so I don’t have much experience porting around so I guess my option isn’t very educated however I chose to assume they didn’t expect the rush of customers that has come from an OzB promotion they didn’t post.
Let’s assume they just break even on this offer and had an expected range of how many people would sign up but instead got double or triple meaning they need to upgrade equipment/bandwidth, I’d rather they put up the price to slow uptake than have the product quality drop for everyone.
As has been said they are honouring anyone who signed up and are still taking new customers at what seems an ok price.
Personally I think they’ll upgrade equipment and capacity armed with the knowledge they can promote it here on OzB and gain a decent number of signups and they’ll be ready.
While I expect good planning and professionalism from any business, I’m much more forgiving of a small startup business so long as they are honest with customers and they work to improve but of they did the same thing and we’re established I’d very much feel the same way.
As it stands, if they come back with another great offer I’ll give them a go!
Let’s see how they respond hey?

      • you must work for them, how do you know they will honour the price in a month

  • only been in business since October 4th

wont be in business by dec 4th I reckon

      • Lol

  • wow those 1000/400 plans are going to get absolutely hammered by warez lords.

    • The pirates like me would love it. That's the only reason I'm going to a 1000/400 plan so I can upload upload and upload and keep the pirate ship floating

Advertised typical speed for Gigabit is 500mbps. Normal price after 6 months is $130/m. Are they trying to get customers or deter them?

    • +1

Well they could just copy Swoop and say they have a TES of 930.. I think most people understand the number is conservative so as to not mislead. I signed up today and the speedtests have been 940ish.. and about 600 to the east coast of the US. Could be better overseas but they are just starting and do use GSL which is quality. The starting price is now only $104 for the plan I chose which is cheaper than a lot of ISP's. Of course not the cheapest but they don't have to be.

      • Do they use GSL only for international?

They seem to be copping a bunch of slack from everyone in the comments, but I think the more competition the better. It's good to see a bit of a point of difference with the privacy and security focused connection, although I do wonder how accurate their DNS blacklisting is I know with my pfblockerNG setup occasionally core website features don't work properly and it would be annoying if it caused issues network wide

        • There are only a couple of people who seem upset they missed the original deal. Tracerts locally seem to suggest GSL is used throughout. I have not tested their DNS as I use Googles. I see the VPN feature in the portal that spun up ok but I removed it as I have no need for it.
