Apparently this is one of the trusted resellers, plenty of good reviews at the very least

As always, don't bother buying a bigger SD card, most would say to straight up turf the card you get either way as they're that bad a quality. In any case, don't pay more for their shit card.

I've got a couple of these. Anything you wanna know, shoot. For the price, this is a great little machine and an excellent stocking stuffer.

  • Can someone explain the easiest way to create a new account if already have one?

    • +2

get a new email address, create a new account, use a similar address to your normal one (e.g. U11/24 Big Street, 11/24 Big St., Unit 11 - 24 Big Street, 24 Big St. Unit 11, etc). Some people report that ideally, you would need a new card for this purchase. I have created 2 new accounts so far, using the same credit card, and have had no issues, but most likely will use a different card if i create another new account

      • I've used the unit 1 trick a couple of times, though my house is technically 2 separate blocks with 2 titles, so unit 1 does officially exist for me…but reusing it as U1, 1/1, etc. I've had no trouble with. Must have made dozens of Ali accounts at this point doing that, all have the same payment method though so eh, I wouldn't worry too much.

      • attempted this over the weekend and had my 2nd account flagged and unable to purchase… Have filed an appeal, but that could take up to 5 days :(

Just in case be careful with payment method. I also recently bought this console for cheap price and used wise virtual card. I usually freeze those after purchase but forgot this time, so about week after the order someone tried to use same card details for Coles online which was luckily stopped by wise. Weird is though that buying from China and card details are used for Coles? They might have stock in Australia as the console arrived rather quick. Also this payment didn't prompt me for approval through app as normal. So I guess the payment process itself was bit dodgy. Not 100% sure yet but bit suspicious that card details leaked through the last AliExpress order. Maybe this cheap price is made on purpose for new users to get fresh card details?

    • I used PayPal so I should be fine. Thank you for the alert, I'll keep an eye out for unexpected charges.

    • +1

Thanks I just used a revolut debit card that has $1 left on it after this transaction. They can go nuts with that $1 if they want ;)

    • I signed up for Citibank card just for AliExpress due to the international fee free. I have use this card with AliExpress for more than 7 years. I saved my card info in my AliExpress account for faster checkout. I have bought many items at least 60 items a year. My card has never been compromised yet, it is currently with NAB.

I used a revolut digital card for a cheap crunchyroll subscription and forgot to freeze it, just had a few dollars in it. Saw a bunch of different card tap attempts in the US when I logged back in. Must be something with digital cards? Or the card details really were compromised and leaked from the website we used it on.. Have had a fraudulent transaction on an old credit card I used for aliexpress many years ago too when PayPal wasn't an option back then. At least with credit cards it's not technically your cash that has been stolen initially and banks are pretty good with reimbursements. Bit scary using a debit card to buy even with PayPal now.

  • Would Raiden 2 work? Does it allow configuration of automatic continuous fire?

    • +1

Raiden would run fine. I have never really messed around with MAME settings tbh beyond making myself be player 2 in Simpsons Arcade so I can be Homer instead of Marge, but there's a lot of customization options so I'd hope you'll be able to. I'll give it a download tonight if I have a few free and have a squizz. The PS1 version of 1/2 would also be playable if you can't be stuffed messing with settings.

Price is 31.29 USD or 48.99 AUD.

It all changed more expensive soon as I signed in.

    • +1

Still shows the same price when I go incognito. Did you use a new account? If yes and it still stuffs you, try incognito maybe? Good luck!

      • My apologizes. I forgot to create new account. Had a lot of shit goin through my head lol.

        All good now.

        thank you.

  • Does 25% cashback at cash rewards stack with this?

    • Yep, mine did from last night.

  • Bought one of these when this deal was on a month or two back. For the price (I think mine came to about AU$28 including shipping etc) it is ridiculously good. Just make sure you buy a decent microSD card ASAP, if you don't have a spare laying around already. Also a lot of the included ROMs are trash (duplicates, non-English versions, some just plain don't work) so I sourced my own which is easy enough to do.

The 3 inch screen is a bit tiny - I have to wear my glasses for anything text heavy. Emulation performance I've found pretty good on everything up to and including PS1. Beyond that… N64 most stuff runs really bad, PSP it's OK for simple 2D games, anything 3D eg Ridge Racer or Pursuit Force etc run at like half speed, maybe quarter speed so not great. Arcade emulation is a bit hit and miss. There are a bunch of cores for these (assorted variants of FinalBurn and MAME) in Retroarch, so often I find it a game doesn't work right away, if I try it with different cores and often end up finding one that does work.

    • Actually I take back what I said about PSP emulation. I was fooling around with it at lunchtime today and found a few emulator settings to make stuff run much, much better. Ridge Racer still pretty ordinary (bounces around between about 20% and 80% of full speed), but everything else I tried is been pretty good now.

        Ooooo do share….

PSP games run on PPSSPP, not Retroarch. So start any PSP game and click either the right stick. This brings up the PPSSPP menu. Go to Game Settings and go into graphics settings.

I'm trying to remember exactly what I changed I set frame skipping to 1,frame skipping type to number of frames and selected auto frameskip. I also upscale type to xBRZ and upscale level to off.

I think that's all but I can't remember 100%,there was a bit of trial and error. It's possible that you may find different settings work better for different games.

          • @AngusD: This works but it becomes a bit janky with the amount of frames skipped. Try god of war.. it becomes frustrating to play

          • @AngusD: I was going to say a similar thing. A LOT of games are very playable with frameskip. Some games run great without, like Family Guy, Simpsons, spider-Man 2, and so on. Others will need a boost from frame skipping, but you can get things like OutRun, Ratchet & Clank, Battlefront and more to be very playable with even just "auto frameskip" on (1FPS by default)

From what I understand, turning on auto frame skip changes the target from 60 to 30 which effectively halves the amount of frames attempted to be rendered, which massively lessens the workload, it's why you'll see the biggest gains by going from no frame skip to 1 skip, but will see less gains from 2 or 3. Once you have 3 frames skipped though I'll agree it gets a bit janky

  • 64gb vs 128gb?? i see some people saying ditch the card - are the ROMS stored on card or thats just for saves?

    • +2

      Doesn't really matter, IMO.

You should definitely ditch the card that comes with it. It's basically a ticking time bomb that could die at any point. Performance is absolutely awful. You're best of buying a endurance card of some sort and buying content from elsewhere.

Everything is stored on the card - OS, Roms, Saves, etc. There is also an option to use two cards, though, have not looked into that.

      • correction - sourcing content from elsewhere.

      • Every guide stats with the warning to backup the included 64GB card and buy a new one. I bought a Samsung 64GB Micro SD Evo Plus (Gen2) from JB HiFi for $25. It's only used to store the OS so it doesn't need to be Super Max Ultra Mega ENDURACE. The high endurance cards are nice to have, but they cost more and they are slower.

The old 128GB card I'm using to store games only writes at 80MB/s. I had to wait to play with the new toy.. well, that's not true, I used the included card and played Golden Axe before I backed anything up. Worth it.

I'm still waiting for my Wifi and OTG dongle to show up so I can see what they offer.

        • Great bargain device. Just one Samsung 128GB card being used for me. Can’t see value with two.

  • does this play 3ds or ds

    • DS, yes, controls are awkward at times, but performance is good.
      3DS, nope.

  • Up to $38.53 on a new account now for Red 64gb model :(

    • Poop. I'll mark it expired, surprised it stayed as long as it did tbh

      • …. Black Friday deal saved Christmas gifts! Got it for $19.10 USD.

  • Mine left the Sydney depot for Newcastle on 26Nov. Still hasn't arrived at Newy depot. Wtf Amarex!!

    • There's been times for me and many others where the updates are not accurate. I've had ones that say they're still in China and like 2 days later they turn up, still saying that. Ideally you're in the same boat and it comes soon.

      • Lol I've just realised I've been saying their name wrong since forever. Idiot!

Anyways, my tracking info came from Aramex's website. Still yet to be scanned in to the Newcastle depot after leaving Syd 8 days ago. It'll probably turn up but just a little disconcerting.

        • I've had several do that…but the missus also ordered a Game Boy-esque thing for me once, 200 odd bucks too, expensive one, never showed up. Got her money back no problem, but it never left China as far as the site said. Unbeknownst to me, I ordered the same thing on the same day (same deal) and it arrived fine like a week and a half later. Luck of the draw sometimes :/ hope your's rocks up soon.

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: Cheers!
Turns out there's a 5 day backlog for mine and surrounding suburbs. Is actually a Xmas present for someone else but fingers crossed.

  • Can anyone explain why this deal was allowed but the Kogan one(kogan.com) someone posted was removed for banned item?

    • These words "featuring 500 classic games".
