Super low price for new AliExpress registered members is this Apple AirTag alternative for a very low price at only ~A$2.50. According to the specifications this one is both a Bluetooth tracker and compatible with the Apple Find My network including precise positioning so you can locate it on a map in the Apple Find My app, like you can with regular Apple AirTags. For $2.50 I think it's worth a try.

Choose the colour White, as Black is no longer available.

Note that only the individual tags are on sale and not the 4 pack (I can't choose the OzBargain thumbnail).

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

$2.50 worth a try. Better than paying $40.
Its also a welcome deal, usual price is close to $10 inc gst

      • thanks. tried to order but doesnt ship to ACT

        • Doesn't ship to Melbourne either (unless I'm doing something wrong).

Can't ship to my address in Vic

  • "This item is no longer available. It's sold out or the store discontinued selling it. If added to your cart you can still view it under the "Expired items" section. "

oh well :/ would have been nice to try and get these hooked up to home assistant

    • Oh interesting I've never considered trying to hook AirTags up to HA

      • Yeah… I found this project a while back and i've been on the lookout ever since.

  • Choose colour White now that black is OOS.

  • Shows 4usd for me

    • New user discount.

      • New user of what I just created the AliExpress account?

        • +1

If it's a new account with a new address, then you will see a "Welcome Deal" with a US$0.99 price on the listing. That's what I see on my accounts with no orders.

Can we stop these new user deals. No different to buying something priced $10 from JB hifi for $0 with perks code deals. Almost 99% audience is existing users here.

    • +13

How about you just hide the deals? Your feed won't be full of them anymore and everyone else who wants them will continue to see them. It's not unreasonable.

Go to the AliExpress New User tag, click the 3 dots and click hide on new deals and/or front page. Bam the deals are gone and you don't need to complain anymore.

Or you know just create a new account, as it's easy to not get banned if you're smart with the address.

theres an overwhelming number of these "deals" on aliexpress, you can literally search for any basic electronic accessory and find 'WOW 95%' etc etc

        • Who knew? Like I said if you don't like it reduce your stress levels and hide them.

For existing users, it’s also available from the coins page for 62% off for coins. Order 3 for free shipping for US$6.29 (AU$10 give or take a couple cents) delivered.

Can’t wait to see how they compare with Airtags at less than 1/10th the price…

      Link to coin page?

      • +1

You can trigger some bigger Coin discounts by adding ?sourceType=620 after the .html in the URL. The Coin discount will be bigger if it goes through the app instead of the mobile/desktop site and even bigger through the discount finder (usually) in the Coins section Uncle Rico mentions.

      • Not possible to link to it from app. If you use the back button once from @Clear’s landing page, you should see a shortcut to Coins in the upper left corner of the page. If you’ve clicked through to view the tracker earlier, it will show up on your Coins landing page.

  • Will this work on android too since its BT

    • +1

      No Apple only sadly.

    • Easy enough to keep a very old and otherwise worthless iphone or ipad in the drawer for such things.

  • does this also have the stalking/tracking protections that Apple built in to airtags (e.g. alerts if a tag is in your vicinity for a long time and not paired to your phone)

Also any similar ones for Android?

  • -1

Genuine Airtags use the massive iPhone community to report back on location if out of BT range or in weird locations.

Do these cheapies manage to report back in realtime if your luggage ends up somewhere random?

    • Yes, if it's Find My compatible then it uses the Find My network. Otherwise it would be pointless.
