Your link is broken, probably should be: https://www.amazon.com.au/King-Gillette-Double-Safety-Razor/…

I like the design and quality, etc. But it somehow can't shave as well as other Gillette shavers… The razor is not picking up hairs as easy. Or may be user s mistake?

I have been using this razor for 2 years, I agree with you. I like using it but it does shave as close as my previous Gillette fusion cartridge razor.

No, not a user mistake. Cartridge razors are quicker and easier. This is good for people who want to save money on blades and/or enjoy the "ritual" of shaving

Personally I'm a lazy SOB so after giving this razor a go for a few months I ended up buying a Philips One, which I've been very happy with.

I bought this on a previous deal to test it out. Two things I needed to change to make my experience better:

      1. Ditch the handle. It's not easy to grip and it's just asking to be dropped, which could be especially bad in the shower. I picked up a Yaqi handle off AliExpress which is much easier to grip and less prone to slippage. Yaqi was recommended to me by another ozbargainer who helped me out a few months ago.

      2. Different razors. Different people report liking different brands. I took a stab (pun?) at Feather and they shave much better than the Gillette ones. You can try a multi-pack with all different brands to test them out and see what you like.

      YMMV

      • I agree that the stock handle is rubbish but is the Yaqi replacement better because of grip? I noticed it's almost the same length as stock.

Well I was advised to get one of the cheaper ones (~$20) with lots of knurling i.e. that was a better option that buying a whole new "nicer" razor from another brand.

But what I ended up doing was finding a solid stainless steel one that I personally liked the look of. So I spent more, but I now I enjoy using the razor more.

This is the exact model I bought: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007316610441.html

I have 2 of these; they don't shave as close as other blades.
It does improve if you use a Feather or Astra blade, the original blades are not great
Infact if you want a cheap but decent shave I suggest getting the Gillette Super Blue for Aliexpress for $2
