  • Can you connect it to battery?

    • +1

      Hi HeyHi,

With these particular models no a battery cannot be connected directly to the inverter.

With batteries you have a couple of options, Hybrid Inverter (direct plug and play with battery) or AC Coupled (separate Solar Inverter and Separate Battery Inverter).

      Both have pros and cons.

      Hybrid Inverter

Generally speaking Hybrid inverter for a particular inverter brand is only compatible with its own branded or a very limited other batteries, this limits you as to which battery you can add in the future.

Also depends on when you would be adding a battery to your system, getting a hybrid today and not installing a battery for a few years doesn't really make sense, as you are limiting yourself to todays hybrid tech and limited battery options. Better off to get a separate AC Coupled battery system when ready and if that's in a few years both the price and quality will be better than today.

The most common approach for customers with solar only is Ac Coupled systems, either the battery will have its own built in hybrid or you can install a hybrid inverter that's compatible with it. This allows you have basically any battery in the market, you can make a informed decision and have a range of options to suit your needs.

Happy to discuss further feel free to reach out to us.

There are some options on the market such as the new Fronius Gen 24 units which have hybrid ability however you can purchase a non activated unit and pay Fronius a set amount later in the future to activate the hybrid functionality.

As mentioned each approach has its pros and cons and we look at each individuals customer situation and advise accordingly.

      Cheers,

      Matt

  • what's included in the switchboard upgrade? 60 years old house with the old plug-in switch.

    • Hey hoaemhuff,

Cost covers standard Single Phase boards with old style plug in switches, upgraded to latest breakers, RCD's, new enclosure and wiring as needed.

We always ask for a photo of the board to ensure no added costs, if the area has asbestos could be some added costs.

Please send through a photo to [email protected] along with your details and property address and happy to review and advise.

      Cheers,

      Matt

  • Hi, can this deal be applied to a business? If so any changes to rebates etc

    • Hey ste05,

Yes can do for business as well, The solar Vic Rebate and Loan are not eligible for a business so your price will be without these rebates.

The business is still eligible for the federal STC rebate.

Pricing would be as below (plus any extras based on the property specifics).

      6.6kW $3,599
      8.8kW $4,599

Additionally businesses can potentially claim GST and Tax write off depending on your individual circumstances.

Feel free to request a quote and let us know in the notes section that its for a business and we can review and quote accordingly.

      Cheers,

      Matt

      • I sent an email

  • Ive got one of the 6.6kw and it never goes above approx 4.9kw, do they dumb it down to not strain the meter etc?

    • +1

      Hi Leroy,

That's what to expect as the maximum production is based on the inverter size. The 6.6kW system is installed with a 5kW inverter as standard, there are number of reasons for this main ones being below:

      • Export limit of 5kW for Single Phase properties
      • By having additional panels added to the inverter this ensures that the inverter can actually get to its peak production of 5kW, as panels are not 100% efficient and without oversizing the inverter wont often get to max production in most conditions
      • Allowing for more generation especially in winter months when weather conditions are not ideal
      • Allows for higher generation throughout the day resulting in a higher daily yield
      • The STC federal rebates are based on the total wattage of the panels/system, another reason why systems are oversized to get the max rebate for the end user
      • The guidelines and rules allow for an inverter to be oversized by a factor of 1.33 as per the Clean Energy Regulator

It is always best to have more panels if the space and factors allow to ensure you are getting the most out of your system. Depending on each customers needs and peak power usage various different system sizes are recommended (e.g 6.6kW or 8.8kW or 10kW or 13.2kW etc) we have a chat to you about your peak usage (how much power will you consume at one given time) as well as average usage through the day, months and year and work backwards from there to suggest the most suitable system.

In regards to how much your system will produce or peak at will vary on a lot of factors, not limited to orientation, shading, weather, splits, inverter max input/output voltage, string configuration and much more.

Our team are well versed in these items and ensure that each system is designed to the best of its ability and we communicate expectations to the customer along with realistic savings and generation figures, this helps you make an informed decision.

Happy to discuss further if you would like any more information.

      Cheers,

      Matt

      • Ok thanks Matt, appreciate the input. Was t sure why it never got up to 6kw and wasn’t explained the above either. Cheers. I’ve got 15 panels, so is it the amount of panels or the input the panels can take in? I’m only on single phase so assume that limits it. Thanks again

        • +1

          Hey Leroy,

Yes 15 would be the max if they are 440w panels.

          Cheers,

          Matt

  • Is Trina panels as good as Jinko’s?
How long is the product warranty for Trina’s panels?

  • Stay away from Goodwe - 3 replacement inverters. Tech support is dreadful. Zero clue of their own product! Not willing to help our installer!!

  • Do you guys install Aiko panels? I am after a 8-10 kW system but roof space is limited and there are shading issues.

    • Hey Smokeymr,

Yes we do supply Aiko 440w panels, get in touch share your details and we can what see fits and suits your property best and go from there.

Feel free to give us a buzz on 03 8322 9999 or send though your details to [email protected].

  • These guys at Cerium are legends! After over a year of my system running perfectly, it tripped 3 times on hot days. Matt responded to me within the hour, including sending a sparky over on Sat to check in-person.

Support is unparallel. Highly recommend them.
