  • Anyone familiar with this CPU? It seems a bit rare

In a full fledged heavy gaming laptops like these, slightly worse than 13700H, and much slower than a comparable tiered 13700HX or 7745HX.

Ultra should never be used in these as you are not and can not take advantage of the better power efficiency/igpu of these ( you need to play games plugged in anyways for the 4070) but it is quite slower - compared to the ‘old’ intel core lineup, these are more akin to supercharged P28, not the H45 let alone the H55/Dragon range that exists in far more than most laptops in this category.

This used in a 2.8kg 17.3’ laptop just shows that core ultras didn’t sell well, that oems got too much leftover stock and are now putting them in chassis they don’t belong.

      • Thanks Brrrrt,
        that's very helpful. Much appreciated.
(assuming you haven't just cobbled a bunch of words together that sound fancy but in reality are completely meaningless - just to mess with those of us that don't know any better)

          No worries mate :)

You can check reviews, like the notebookchecks aggrevated benchmarks for this chip across different machines.

Its intel's 'amd -HS' competitor, it can go into gaming laptops, but thats for thinner n lighter ones, not really something you want except in a desktop replacement style rig where its strengths cant be appreciated and its downsides are exposed.

Finally not the 13th or 14th HX series CPU and under $2k for a 4070!
