    That is indeed nicely priced

  • $1889.30 for 4060 including $171.75 GST , if claiming TRS , would be $1717.55 , Not bad for these specs

      The ram :(

      • +1

Which part? That it is baked on board or that is just 32GB? For gaming and office the 32GB should survive the life of the laptop.

Huh weird they do 14 with tuf series they already have rog Zephyrus 14…

    • Is it just me or for does it seem crazy anyone would buy the 4050 to save $100?

This is a gaming laptop and graphics are a big part of that. Sacrificing 2GB of VRAM to save a quick $100 which I'm guessing is actually $70 with the discount code.

Also be careful because the 4050 is the default choice for the 14".

    • Thanks for the link, I grabbed one! I figure it's a pretty good replacement for my old Dell Inspiron 7300, and I snagged it for $1819.30 total 😁

Thanks OP, used the code for the TUF A14, there's also another the 2% cashback through shopback, which is a nice $36 back haha

    • +1

Credit goes to user GucciTofu for discovering this code at PAX

    • codes only works for 16 though

      • +1

I gave it a shot on the 14 and it worked fine! Might be because it still comes under the PAX sale category despite not having a sale price

      • It didn't work for me buying on the phone but works on a pc so maybe that's the problem you're seeing?

  • Nice spec - also check out using AMD AFMF alongside an Nvidia GPU (DLSS3 + AMD Frame Gen) on AMD RDNA3 (i)GPU devices. Theres' a korean forum quasarzone.com that have tested this.

  • Really lovely to see laptop prices came down, just a bit $2k for 4070, are these latest TUF series still plastic body?

    • Never plastic, they are military drop proof spec.

    • they have a metal lid and plastic chassis just as legion 5s at this price is

Not a good deal and Asus laptops especially budget end are notoriously bad for quality assurance. Asus is not a good physical product manufacturer and lags behind in industry standards from V&V to software security assurance.

Interesting insight as an ex V&V engineer in this field. Lenovo is actually one of the best if not the best hardware manufacturers in terms of validation/verification processes. Every Lenovo consumer product software update has to merge into wider lenovo software security assurance checks and verifications… This is why generally Lenovo products are better made, more robust but seem to not pump out as much firmware updates as Asus which pumps them out without so much of any holistic oversight or process beyond basic pull/merge and maybe one round of review by a lead as a gesture check…

What I’ve said above translated into following experience for me:

asus rog ally defective first unit after 2 months with faulty fans and of course the ever persistent unfixed defective sd card reader. Got replacement RMA and second rog ally exhibited dead pixels on reception and significant lcd edge light bleeding worse than my cheap 512GB OG steam deck shipped and banged up through 3rd party…

I also have a Lenovo legion go and legion pro 7i 4090/13900HX laptop. Some of the best quality hardware with nil issues. But when it comes to driver updates etc. Sure Asus pumps them out but I currently have issues with AMD Adrenaline closing in games consistently due to driver incompatibility or bugs that conflicts with Armoury Crate SE… Lenovo, no such issues.

    • Would you have any insight regarding the state of factory calibration in the laptop market? I wouldn't have a clue how often it's considered by manufacturers compared to say with monitors or TVs.

    • I have an older Asus tuf, it's been great, the screen died after warranty and they still replaced that and put a new main board in because why not.

  • always love gaming laptop posts :)
besides much cheaper price, how would this compare to Lenovo legion?

    • +1

More modern cpu, which means better performance and efficiency, arguably worse build quality, also this has faster ram speeds (no idea about how lpddr5x fares against ddr5 in latency tho

  • +1

Hmmm maybe my Lenovo slim 14 purchase was a bit early. Didn't realise these cpu refreshes were so close to market

I guess if you are buying laptops, you will never be ahead and catching up with technology that moving so fast, never win …

      • That's how it feels but the truth often is you'd not notice the difference most of the time anyway!

    • I got the Legion slim 14 too. I think they're going to refresh it in the next few months?

  • If you can buy extended warranty, I would recommend

    • Some credit cards provide extended warranty out of box.

  • What version is the igpu?

    • +2

890m, the best you are going to get in the world right now, also an asus exclusive until ces

It's interesting that it is not listed, but the HX370 comes with the 890M.

    4070 out of stock.

  • +1

I ordered the 4060 model since the 4070 was out of stock. Processed as a cool $1889 (including shipping), just checked again and it seems the coupon is now longer valid. I'll update if they do honor this pricing but looks promising so far, thanks OP!

    • +1

I ordered the 4060 model just before you posted this too, fingers crossed!

  • What's the power wattage of the graphics card?

    • 4070 is 115w can be boosted to 140w. Obv not via 100w USB c power

  • Just bought the 4070 version on pre order and code still works for the discount both models it seems

  • My order got cancelled, I am trying to reorder the 4070 GPU using the discount code. Not working.

    • It seems to have gone back on sale but at $2159 for the 4070 model

    • What was the reason for cancelling it?
