Is it? I thought ampol has DC chargers

Edit: just found this in OP "Keep in mind that the AmpolCash cannot be used for public EV charging sessions"

      Well that sucks..

AmpolCash Digital gift cards can be redeemed for fuel and most items sold at the convenience store at Ampol Foodary, EG Ampol and other participating Ampol service stations.

From the AmpolCash Conditions of Use:

The Card can be used to purchase (or part pay in conjunction with cash or by credit card) selected goods or services available at these outlets. The Card cannot be used to purchase gift cards, prepaid or post-paid phone or internet vouchers, transport tickets, mobile phones and accessories, electric vehicle (EV) charging or lottery tickets.

There is a version of the AmpolCash Digital gift cards that is restricted to fuel purchases only, but I would like to think Ampol would not be supplying that version through this deal!

Anybody have one of these? Are they reliable?

I would have thought the 22kw Tesla wall charger would be better value? The price with installation is cheaper also.

it was a toss coin between this and zj benny. zj benny charger is 600 + 500 installation. comes out cheaper and i didnt have to upgrade my house wiring to 63 amps because zj benny has a load balancer to adjust to max 40 amps load of the house.

(i didnt get it from here but this is the model i have)

    • Had the ZJ Beny OCPP version for the last 18 months or so. Run it with ChargeHQ for solar tracking. Excellent unit, no issues whatsoever.

i was tempted to add it to chargehq as well but opted to get the dynamic load balancer (i think i paid additional 150 so it can detect how much solar is coming in) only so that im not reliant on the internet (my nbn is sh!t in the house)

everything is controlled on the app. i can see how much solar is coming in and charge solely off of solar if i wanted to.

  • https://www.evswitchstore.com.au/pages/ev-charger-range has gone up to $699 from $499, however still presents better value than this deal. I got one for $320 from FB marketplace new from a BYD Seal owner who didn't want his free charger, it works great, can do solar monitoring and charge off excess solar. Sadly the BYD Seal owners on FB marketplace have caught on to the price increase and are selling at $500 now.

Only $800 for the Tesla wall connector which also offers 11kw from 3 phase

$1300 for a 7kw charger with a environment destroyer logo, LOL!!!!
Ampol might be used to charging whatever they like for "Fossil Fuel Poison" because there is no competition but the EV world is a different ball game!!!!!
