The 9th Gen is still a very very capable iPad, runs iOS 18 like a dream and will be supported for years to come.

Yes, these are old but they have a good niche market. These are the go to, and highly recommended tablet for primary schools. That's the case for VIC. Would assume it's a pretty similar situation for other states.
Yeah my daughter chose this over the newer one because of the button. Also easier to press the button if you have a big ass protective kids case on there
The button is redundant and my kids much rather biggest screen and colorful back drop, not to mention faster and has USB-C charging so universal with all other changers.
