Good deal on this battery, I already have one and buying a second one for my 4WD to run a 2000W inverter.
Usually $1,099, but VoltX has them on special at $699. Harvery Norman is cheaper again at $465. Get yourself a bargain.

Yeah, I'd still go for the $299 Kings 100ah version of this style slimline battery.

+1 for typing 100 Ah instead of 100000 mAh

  • Holding out (optimistically) for another deal on the VoltX 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery $289

Other than size, I think they're basically the same.

Use price beat from any other store and avoid Harvey Norman, this is the way

      This is the way

  • What sort of hardware is needed to turn this into a UPS for a fridge? Trying to make the most of ovos 3 hours of free electricity.

      You would need:
      1. A charge controller from your energy source (so presumably 240v AC to 12v DC) that can pump in meaningful energy over a 3 hour period
      2. One or more of these batteries to store sufficient energy to make a meaningful difference to energy savings
      3. An inverter that can convert from 12v DC back to 240v AC, with high enough output to support your fridge's max power draw.

Some rough calculations suggest that a fridge costs about $200 to run for a year. I'm going to hazard a guess that this scheme of yours is going to take 10+ years to pay for itself, unless your fridge is super old and really inefficient. And if that's the case, it might actually be more financially sensible to simply upgrade your fridge to one that's more energy efficient.

      • Yeah. It's interesting. Fridge consumes 50w on average $113.29 PA. (29.56c peak) So when storage is down to $0.30/wh I'm all in as long as the battery will last longer that 1500 cycles.

    • You'll need an AC inverter. Which depending on your fridge. This could supply up to 1200w of power (12v X 100a). But at 1200w, it would only last 1hour of power. There are cheaper and better battery solutions than this, for that use case.

      • That is a weird logic for his request. If the fridge has peak load of 1200W that does not mean it would consume 1200W non-stop! That's like using a kettle 24/7… He needs to know if the battery can cover the start of the compressor, which is the said peak load, and then how many kwh it consumes in roughly day to decide how big of a battery he needs.
There is slso the question of how many cycles the battery csn tske if it charges every day with a relatively high charge current. They normally only gave a few thozsand cycles so this will last let's say 10 years. But I would bet that the free energy offer from Ovo would ve discontinued earlier.

  • 2000w inverter pulls over 150A.
The $5 BMS in this thing isn't rated for that.

Appears to be very expensive for a 100 Ah battery. I got the Gentrax 100 Ah from a previous deal for $195
