  • How do you connect them to the MR4s? I have a pair and they don't have sub out

    • Then you cant.
      Maybe with an audio interface

        you kind of need another piece of equipment in front of the MR4

        <stolen from another forum>

        PC-> DAC/interface -> RCA -> T5 -> RCA -> MR4

        If you dont want to buy another device I would suggest you can feed the RCA to the T5 first then loop it out to the MR4 but I dont like the idea of two vol. ctrls.

        read the T5 manual - it has stereo rca in and stereo rca out and it will filter the signal so the bass doesnt go to the MR4 but again, you will need to control master vol. from you pc

      I'm using an audio interface but you can connect your input to the T5 and connected it to the MR4's via the rca output if you don't mine having to adjust the volumes separately

      • Hmm, I don't have sub out on my motherboard just regular line in, line out.

        Could I go PC -> T5 -> MR4s? Would that work?

        So then I assume PC volume controls the sub and I use the volume knob on the speakers?

        e: Looks like it based on - https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetAudiophile/comments/1c6093z/d…

        • Sorry for the confusion, that's what I was trying to say. The pc volume control will adjust both the T5's and MR4's volume simultaneously however they likely wont be adjusted equally so you'll have to manually adjust one of them with the knob

          here's a wiring diagram from Edifier's website https://imgur.com/a/y7EUgps

      • what's it sound like?

    • If you can find these locally or get them shipped for a reasonable price they should work well if you pick the correct one for the frequency response of the MR4s. Send sound first to the sub then out to the MR4s, with the inline filters in between.

      I’ve been looking into it myself and they only other option is a sub with built in high and low pass filters.

      EDIT This looks reasonable-ish https://www.decibelhifi.com.au/fmod-100hz-high-pass-pair?srs…

      This subwoofer has a passthrough.

      PC > sub (via 3.5mm) > speakers (via RCA)

      • It does have pass through but what is it passing through?

        • +1

          The audio signal from the input side.

          • @MasterScythe: What I mean is, what frequency range does the sub pass through? I think the high pass filter would serve as a quasi crossover so limit anything too low for the MR4s. Needed? Not sure but from what I’ve read most people seem to hook them up the way you’ve suggested so I might try that myself.

            Something like this (last comment):

            Cheers :-)

          • @MasterScythe: This. Full signal via RCA. The low pass filter won’t affect the rca output.

  • Can I use this with an Edifier s2000mkiii?

  • how would this go with a Yamaha htr3064? currently I am using my creative 2.1's subwoofer. does this work only with left or right channel cable connected to subwoofer out?
