    whoop de do.

I'm constantly amazed by the things that people spend money on.

    • so you think smart watches are dumb?

      • +2

        This isn't a smart watch.

        • for something you wear on your wrist it seems does some pretty clever things, no?

          • +2

            @pointless martyr: It's not a watch either.

            • @jv: touché - i guess i don't know my wrist gadgets - it does seem like a missed opportunity right here though

I had this, for one year at a discount rate its fine, but the next year you pay full amount. And on top, they don't change the device - you keep on using the same device as long as you have a subscription (unless there is a new release - and its been years since they released 4.0). Moved to Apple Watch Ultra, no complaints. Happy to answer any questions :)

    • Are you using Athlytic/Bevel apps? If so how do you find they compare?

      • +2

Used both for trial - then brought Athlytic.

I felt Athlytic was more inline to what I felt and the workout stress was much better.

    • I have heard same from friends. Was seriously considering moving to IOS just because of Apple health/watch with Athlytic. But can't do without folding phones.

      • +2

The sensors on AWU are much better than Whoop - though it does not monitor 24x7 like whoop, but the sampling data is still better IMO

        • how do you compare the new training load data with the Athlytic one? (im not even sure if they are comparable). I wish there was one without subscription

          • +1

@cholas: I feel closer to Athletic data vs Whoop.

Like, if I do a 10 KM run, Whoop will tell me that I'm done for the day. However, Athletic will still have suggestions left. Which is pretty much in line with what I feel—since I could do a bit more.

            • +1

@b0nd: And I think, that could be a personal thing

You will own nothing and be happy.

I was considering Whoop for a while, but the subscription model really puts me off. I'd rather buy a device outright.
Ended up getting myself a RingConn Gen2 from Kickstarter, had it a few days been great so far, only downside is you can use it weight lifting which would be great to track.

  • Hate the subscription. would rather they sell my data so I can use it for free…..
