Obligatory "buy a size down for these"… or better yet try one on first. My Halo jacket is the only small sized top I own.

This is an absolute ripping price too. I often wish I bought the hooded version, but I'm in Brisbane so don't really need to wear it day to day.

    • +3

Thanks, no hood no buy from me

    • +3

Or, buy 2 sizes, get free shipping, try them on, return the one that doesnt fit

    • +7

Unless you're buying the women's one. You should size up. The sleeves are short and the shoulders are narrow.

      • +2

no one mentioned this, thanks for pointing out

      • +1

        Same experience

      • +3

I diasgree. Ive had to size down to a Small. Usually a M or L (for uniqlo). And the sleeves are still long enough / longish.

      • +4

First post "Down size for these", 3rd reply "Up size for these"…

Gonna have to shoot for my actual size it seems..

        Crazy times.

        • +3

Yeah or it would help if people said if they ae 190cm tall an weigh 70kg or 160 cm ang 90kg.

Personally 180cm 82kg and medium fits me (usually a large)

    • +1

      34C today

    • Same experience. The size is odd. Sleeve is too long for medium but waist a little short for small. But small overall fit better than the long sleeves

  • +11

Size down for this, seriously oversized

    Also note: not hooded

      • +15

bro wtf? Knowing their life story is irrelevant - the point is if you normally wear a large - buy a medium. If you normally wear medium - buy small.

        • -3

Totally agree. Who hasn't seen a fat Asian, I've seen quite a few. Take a look at the sushi wrestlers. šŸ¤£. (This is just a joke, but in bad taste, especially if it puts you off eating sumo)

@Roe Jogan: You might want to check out magabargain.com - heaps of other friendly burd turglars on there.

      • +2

Super weird comment, but for reference i'm white, 73kg and 183cm tall and returned my medium for a small. Just like everyone else says… go down a size. As i'm assuming you would also like to know my physical fitness level…. i work out and surf and am a "standard issue size male who has fairly v shape or wide soulders".

        • +5

Just need a tad bit more info, so i can clone you

          • @michael9865: 73kg and 183cm. Brother you are a stick.

            • +4

@mogley: Look up the BMI .. thats in the perfect range

  • Hmmm already have a 600 loft Mountain Designs jacket in navy. I donā€™t need another. Great price though.

    Cheers ordered

Have one I paid $90 years ago but it's starting to really stink of BO on the inside, any tips?

I've tried leaving it I side out to air out

    • +34

      Wash it lol

      • +1

        Any tips on that?

I've heard it can ruin the down

        • +2

I have washed Kathmandu and Karrimor brand jackets in the washing machine without any damage or issue

        • Only use a front loader washing machine (if you don't have one, wash by hand or go to the laundromat). Use a gentle detergent - wool wash liquid is fine. Dry in a tumble dryer with a few tennis balls in there to fluff it up.

          • @askvictor: I've used a top loader with no issue.

            • @dontpanic: Good for you, but generally a bad idea as that can easily tear the fabric

              • @askvictor: You're probably thinking old top loaders with centre agitators. Even then, most have perfectly suitable gentle cycles. Prior to getting our agitator-less 'wave-tech' LG top loader we used a heavy duty agitator machine to wash down products for years with no problems.

              • +2

@askvictor: Just letting people know this jacket works fine in a top loader from my own personal experience. If you're worried about ripping you can always put it in a garment washing bag before putting it in.

        • I've washed my jacket (same one) using the special product from Patagonia, then air dried it out of the sun, then put it in the dryer on Cool cycle with a couple of new tennis balls etc.etc.Guess what? the jacket has never been the same as the pile or whatever that stuff is inside shifted around,so my advice is to forget about all that s***t and wear it to death, then buy a new one. .

        • +1

I wash mt Doonas and my jackets at least once a year. I use the down cleaner stuff and gentle cycle. I usually pick a couple of days when it is going to be high 30s to low 40s to dry. I dry them flat on airers and continually fluff up the jacket/Doona to stop clumping. Havenā€™t had a failure yet.

    • +2

      I use rexona, myself.

    • +4

Wash it. Follow the instructional videos online - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsS_L-WkqGw.

I ignored a bit of the steps and did the following and it came out perfect.

Make sure all pockets are zipped up so it doesn't catch on anything/get fully soaked.
Wash in front loader on delicate/wool cycle with cold water and a tiny bit of liquid delicate laundry detergent.
Once complete - remove and roll up jacket in a fresh clean towel and squeeze out as much water as possible
Dried in a heat pump dryer on baby/delicate cycle with dryer balls.
Took ~3-4 cycles in the dryer to be fully plump and dry and I would reverse it and turn it inside out after each cycle finished.

      • Cheers I'll try this now I have a 2nd

So many negs I guess everyone here sweats angel tears and unicorn piss šŸ¦„

        • Andrew the ex royal does!

        • How many years ago, did you say you bought it, good sir?

          • @EyyBanane: About 6

Been on some adventures and ski trips with it, very good jackets

        • No we just wash our jackets :)

    • +1

      showee ocassionally ;P

      • Shower and wee combo?
        Noice! Love the efficiency :p

    • have you ever tried left it outside in direct sun with the inside facing up? sunlight works wonders on odours

    • stop stinking

    • Find a way to stuff only the armpits into white vinegar & leave to soak overnight. Yes, the rest will attempt to soak up the vinegar, so try to cinch/tourniquet w/rope or such to limit it.

Wash in cool water only, after scrubbing dish soap into the pits after the vinegar. Wash the jacket inside out.

      That should do it.

      ;)

      • Clear vinegar diluted with water worked when my brother's cat decided to pee on my down sleeping bag. I soaked the affected part in a bucket for a few hours, rinsed, then hung the bag out to dry. Worked a treat.

        • This works if you take the affected article somewhere else. We have so many mats where once the cat has marked it they go back and pee on it again, no matter what cleaning agent we use. You canā€™t smell it but they can. The sinking feeling of, ā€œthat looks suspiciously scrunchedā€.

Prefer the Uber Light over this one. Good enough for Sydney weather

    • My Uber light is good enough for Melbourne weather.

    • 2-3 jurseys work fine as well.

      • The Uber light is easy to pack away or tie onto your bag when you donā€™t need it later in the day.

  • +2

Pretty good price. $100 should be the normal price for this one. We Aussies are so used to paying exorbitant RRP's which makes no absolute sense.

  • +1

No delivery for the blue colour and can't checkout for C&C. Had to order 2 other colours to get free delivery.

Almost as cheap as the Aldi's one.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Used 10% Macpac gift card from Thrive Gateway to bring the price down to $63.

  • +2

Thanks OP, I was going to "duck down" and grab one. Unfortunately for me there is none in my area so I had to get one delivered.

    • Now you can stay at home and ā€œjacketā€.

  • Already have three of this šŸ¤”

    • You need seven, one for each day of the week. If you write the day on each you will never forget which day it is. (Oh and you won't look like a pervert who has to read the day off their underwear) šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

    This shows $99 for me

    cheapest ever/yet

The recent TAKE30 @ BCF was the cheapest ever, but still very good price.

  • +1

I guess I could buy it for next year. But what if I put on a stack of weight?! Warrantyyyyy

  • Any discounts that stack?

    • plenty of gift card for macpac.

  • I bought macpac once.. little feathers kept coming out of all the thread locations.. was really annoying, beware, got so bad i chucked it out.. that was only after a month or two. My bad experience, i might have just been unlucky. That was one of the black hooded ones

    • Yeah, that's definitely not normal. Quite a lot of people I know have the jacket and they've been fine. Granted this was from a few years back, so the design and construction may have changed. I noticed the current ones are slightly different.

      • I bought the jacket about 1 year ago

    • Didn't happen with mine (hooded version). That said I did rip it a few times and the stuffing came out that way lol. However my gripe is with the zip pockets, the right one was the first to malfunction, then months later the left just went. So I reverted back to the right pocket (could be zipped up…. but it comes undone easily). I want to get another and am waiting for a deal like this…. but I'm still wary about the quality.

  • Just in time for summer!

    • No summer in sight over here in Melbourne

  • Out of stock for M & Lā€¦

  • what temperature are these suitable for?

    • I found this too warm for Sydney.

      • what if you wore wife beater + this?

        • Might still be too warm. Good for snow weather. I haven't worn mine in years. Been wearing the uber light every day during winter.

    • +3

I wore mine when I went to Japan in the winter. It was -3. I did have to wear thermals though.

      • well it's winter soon in Japan again….. did you just do Uniqlo Heat-Tech + one of these and a pair of jeans for that kind of weather?

        • Yeah, pretty much. Puffer jacket. Uniqlo Heattech. Jumper. Jeans. Sneakers.

          • @robotfrom1984: heat tech or ultra heat tech….. what about T-Shirt and jacket is that good enough

            • +1

@Poor Ass: I have the Extra Warm Heattech shirt from Uniqlo. It depends on how cold you run. The Heattech shirt, cotton sweatshirt and jeans were okay for me throughout the day. I also bring with me a beanie and scarf for late at night, early morning or if it gets windy.

    • Maybe lower than 15. More than than is too warm.
