AEG kit values have gone to shit this year, lower spec items & higher prices, compare to this kit last year was down to $649 & also came with a bonus tool up to $399

    • Yeah they've been pretty unappealing, with the stacked $100 off these are decent but not amazing.

If my low-spec AEG drill/impact from 2020 weren't still good I'd buy the 2-piece kit and have some fun with picking out a bonus tool

wait for black friday deals usually when they slash the kit prices to make way for 2025 kits

  • Can you trade in ShitZito?

      • That's not very sporting of them.

AEG tools are decent, but it's a long stretch for them to put themselves in the same category as 'trade' brands lol

Hmmm, they seem exceptionally solid to me. They have a 6 year warranty in Oz, and in the USA, under the Ridgid brand, they have a lifetime warranty. Its quality.

      • +1

A "lifetime warranty" refers to the expected lifetime of the product, not your human lifetime. It basically means nothing.

        • +1

          "How Long Coverage Lasts

This warranty lasts for the lifetime of the RIDGID tool. Warranty coverage ends when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in workmanship or material."

I don't think you can ask for much more than that? Anyway it doesn't apply in Australia so kinda irrelevant.
Just merely stating their warranty is above average, and that is reflected in the quality of the tools.

          • @HappyPants: "This warranty lasts for the lifetime of the RIDGID tool. Warranty coverage ends when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in workmanship or material."

If the warranty lasts the lifetime of the tool that means it ends when the tool breaks, which is when it would need to be warrantied, so you can't warranty it. What's the point of a warranty that expires when the product breaks. Lifetime warranties are marketing BS and mean nothing.

            • -1

@Lysxz: Lifetime warranties on products are until the company ends the product line, not when your own unit breaks.

      • Like I said, they are decent. They're not crap.
I would rate them more 'prosumer' than trade. Definitely a step above Ryobi stuff.
But there is a reason a lot of tradies stick to the usual Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee etc

  • They don't say anything about workzone/ferrex (aldi) batteries…

Nevermind "including but not limited to", and the "trade" part.
