  • +5

Not even for free would I waste my time with this! (needs to be way more inclusive to get my attention)

    • -3

Inclusive? FFS! I'm gonna stick you on a sugar cane farm in 35 degree QLD heat with a broken joystick, a tin can and string for comms and then after week of that… maybe you will begin to appreciate what you have in life.

    • +1

      Same here.
Its been torrented for a week now, but I'm stingy for my time and disk space.

    • Did everyone forget mass effect was "woke" and yet beloved?

  • +2

I picked this up for $67.50 last week from Big W when they matched Target's $75 and used the 10% Extra rewards code for November.

    • +12

      It's ok everyone makes mistakes

    • Big W offers price matching?

      • They had matched Targets price on their website.

  • +8

This will be down to ~$40 by Christmas.

    • +5

      10 bucks next year

We need to find the Artifact!

We are looking for the Artifact!

    Ahhh no thanks

  • +5

I wouldn't spend money on this. This will be on game pass or ps plus within 6 months

  • +10

Buy it and do 10 push ups every time you misgender something 💪

  • +1

    Lol

  • +4

Loved Origins but the direction this has taken the franchiees is not my 'cup of tea' good luck to anyone who enjoys this though - reckon you will be able to get to cheaper on the black friday/ Christmas sales

  • +5

Reviews must be fake as 2.9 rating is too much.

    • +4

Did you see the drama about EA/Dragon Age only giving download codes to reviewers who seemed possitive about the game and would clearly give them good reviews.
They withheld download codes from any publications asking questions or who didn't seem overwhelmingly positive about the trailers etc.
Guess you can only hide the smell of a turd for so long before everyone (including the general public) will catch wind of it and call it what it actually is.

  • +4

Not worth it… I loved the previous games so much! This one doesn't live up to the hype and is not even worth a $10 price tag (it just ruins the lore and the storyline is clunky). There are better games out there, or replay the first DA games instead.
I wanted to give the game the benefit of the doubt, especially with all the hate "hype"… I hate that the poor reviews were true :(

    • +3

Regular folks don’t just buy poison just because it is on sale.

      • -5

lol i don't care about the game i just came here to pretend to be another whinging gamer

  • -5

It is interesting all you ever see online are people being outraged for the same reason. You never see people complaining for the opposite reason online. It’s always the cancel culture, outrage culture types that are in the comments. Everywhere you see this game mentioned, look in the comments. It’s fascinating how one side massively out numbers the other, yet they claim to be the ones under attack… very 1984 double speak. The YouTubers and podcasters have their “1 hour of hate” and the masses willingly tune in and comply. Meanwhile, it’s $4 for a small loaf of bread and rent is the same price of a mortgage a few years ago. They really do have us controlled and fighting amongst ourselves.

this is just wrong no one has an issue with woke 'IP' - they have an issue with current IP being shoe horned to be woke

ie when they take something not woke or some what politically a-neutral and make is as woke as possible to piggy back an agenda

Star Wars and Rings of power are prime examples - of Sci-fi and Fantasy Genre content with estabilised lore and characters. When problem is left 'activists' can't help but shoe horned agendas and social politics - thus you have taken something people 'love' and turned into something else so you get backlash

You dont hear communities raging when woke movies are made via there 'own content' ie no one was raging about the movie Love Simon etc - this is fine, it is your own thing and 'power too you' - the issue arises because 'NO ONE CARES' and the woke are filled with narracists, people that need to complain and moan and have people hear their views/way of live despite having no respect for anyone elses. People and gamers inparticular have no time rubbish but the very fact you dont respect others culture is why you get push back, and there is very few cultures stronger then gaming/pop culture.

The public backlash for rubbish is 100% justified when you have established lore/IP/history etc and it gets changed to suit an agenda ie Cleopatra is a prime example of them re-writting history to suit a 'black narrative' and ultimatly was racist against Egyptians - which is the 'very' thing the woke claim to be against. The worst part is they have stunchly defended how 'racist they are' by calling everyone else racists….

There is rarely if ever any rage when woke content is made only when it hijacks beloved established stories/games/movies/history etc Another example would be in Ted Lasso they made a footballer gay there was no backlash because it is its 'own' IP and is a well and fairly written show in which speaks to a demographic without demonising everyone else.

If this game didnt have Dragon age in the title there would be no backlash - however there would also be almost no sales…

You’re wrong. Having a character that isn’t white or straight isn’t “politics”. That’s your creation. Having someone that has curly hairs in a show isn’t politics. Yet if it’s a persons skin color or gender, it suddenly is. You just want to be in the outrage culture. The guys that “own” dragon age made dragon age. So your argument is void by your own example of Ted lasso.

        • -1

          What are you on about?

Multiple games have have characters that arent White, Straight, male and not had any outrage….Dragon Age Inquisition legit had a characters who were gay

Tomb Raider is one of the most successful franchines for A-RPGs of all time …main character is female

i could go on but you're point is so silly i cbf

          • -1

@Trying2SaveABuck: I’ve literally never seen any comment ever of a game or movie of someone complaining it isn’t “woke” as you claim. Before Trump you all call those imaginary people “SJW”.

The boogeyman to whip up outrage culture and tribalism.

Look at any comments with a game that has a PoC or gay person in it, it’s all “stop forcing politics”. How are people that exist being political?! Like that AC Shadows game. Guy existed, but you lot lost your damn mind. A million white samurai movies and white dude pretending to be ninjas and samurais? It’s all good.

And when you can’t directly attack the character, you blow up minor issues and exaggerate them, xenoblade games are notoriously annoying with their repetitive phrases every 5 seconds of combat, drive you mad. Yet never takes a hit for it in reviews. Same in Forspoken? Dock 20 point due to it being sooooo bad.

Same goes for your example of Cleopatra. White dudes been playing other races for decades, when was the last time you ever saw an olive skinned guy playing a Roman? The Brits where building huts out of cow crap and mud while the Roman’s where doing their thing. Movies and TV shows? All white guys that look like they live in Manchester. There’s even records from Roman talking about the white skinned people from the north. But you don’t outrage about that do you? Ever noticed it’s only “politics” when it’s not white people?

          • -1

@Trying2SaveABuck: Also add, Nubians were part of Egypt and had a pharaoh and were in the royal family. Your comment that “it’s actually racist against Egyptians” is incorrect, Egyptians aren’t just a single skin tone. This is the problem with the internet. Aussies just swallow something you’re heard by an American and consider it fact. The fact you walk around with all the BS in your head suggests you in that pretty deep.

    Dragon Age: Virtue-guard

Hardest pass of my life (Which is really saddening because I waited 10 years since Inquisition)

  • +4

This is only for the they/them crowd.

  • +6

Been playing for a week. As a game it's great, as a dragon age game maybe not so much.
Still enjoying it though not a hardcore dragon age fan.

Only options I've seen for the whole gender controversy is character creation? Not sure what the big deal is about.
No one is forcing you to pick anything.

    • +4

Agreed combat is very good, resembles God of War. Nice variety as well.

      • +3

Sad though considering that Dragon Age Origins was a really good RPG that required you to plan and think during hard battles.
DA2 was ok but felt rushed. You could literally kite in circles around the final boss in #2.
Inquisition was immersive and very well planned. But again, the developers decided to rush the game and the overall experience felt a little lacking as a result.

  • +3

    $39 amazon christmas special incoming.

  • +4

At least it is better than Concord and Unknown 9 Awakening. lol. Let's see how DEI will influence the gaming industry in the next few years. Personally I will not spend a single penny on those games which get impacted by those DEI consultants - especially sweet baby inc.

  • +1

Hopefully it will have a cyberpunk esque redemption arc

    • +2

Cyberpunk had the majority of the fundamentals right just needed to tweak / optimize some stuff

This game is so far off the mark they would need to re do it from scratch to achieve anything that even remotely resembles redemption

  • -3

Bought my copy and have been really happy with it but $15 cheaper would have been nice, average review scores are pretty on the money it feels like a solid 8 to me and i have clocked 35 hours so far and it feels like a return to form for Bioware that has me actually excited for the next Mass Effect.

  • +2

Look forward to buying this for a $1 and trading it in at EB for $40 for a PS6.

  • No thanks, not even if it was free.

  • -6

Wow the right-wing snowflakes are strong in this thread. Crazy to me how offended some people get by something that doesn't affect them in any way.

It's a solid 8/10 game otherwise. Good if you need an RPG to play and burn some time. Nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be, but they're not basing it on gameplay at end of day.

    • in my defence i'm not right wing at all, I just like to cosplay and say things like "trump is gonna ban woke!"

    • +5

Dingo you’re obviously entitled to your opinion but it’s disingenuous to say that “it doesn’t affect them (people) in any way.”
If you’re a fan of high quality RPGs, invested canonically into a series such as this, it’s likely due to Story, Characters and Gameplay. (Not necessarily in that order.)
If the game falters in any of these three areas, objectively it would be difficult to give something an 8.
From what I’ve seen of all three, it fails miserably in each.
The traversal, puzzles, level design, combat - they are all subpar to comparable games in the field.
We then have games journos propping the game up as a masterpiece, expecting your average consumer to accept this as the pinnacle of the genre.
It’s not…and people are rightfully chiding it as they don’t want games in the future to be this “example”. It’s a deceptive practice, pure and simple, and most people are sick of the gaslighting.

    • -1

100% you would think this game personally killed the dog of everyone who played it with the way some people are going on.

Sure some reviewers gave it a 10/10 which is unearned and I hate when that happens as much as the next guy and they have not respected your past choices as much as I would like, but at the end of the day it’s a solid game that i can’t put down and i think it is the first Dragon Age game where I actually enjoy enough of the companions to almost constantly be changing up my party.

  • +5

Pretty bland game. Dull combat, bad writing. May be worth it at bargain bin prices or Gamepass. Returned my copy.

    • +2

The same writer is doing the next mass effect game as well. The writing is atrocious, modern day californian shite in a fantasy setting and this game was in the oven for 10 years.

      • Ah, that sucks, ME was the only one I was actually interested in. I guess the series did truly end with ME3. Never played Andromeda.

  • -2

It is a great game, very different to inquisition, but the story and scene setting is all there. Gameplay is more like god of war etc and can be quite challenging.
