    • Bargain!

    • Did they "broden" it!!!

For the Latitude 7300 laptop, the linked page says 8GB RAM instead of the 16GB it says here.

    • Listing updated. Thanks for pointing that out.

Anything below 16 is just not usable :/ I'm guessing these are 90% in that position as well - without me looking at each one of you know

Hi, it will depend on what you are going to do with the laptop. There is also an option to upgrade the RAM to 16GB if anyone is looking to upgrade.

      • +1

        $30 to upgrade to 16GB, that's a no-brainer

      • -1

I thought they are soldered? Did you replace the ram and resolder??

    • +9

As most people know, "below 16GB RAM is unusable" this is complete hyperbole.

Most people don't play games on laptops, 90% people don't use CAD software, virtualisation, or photoshop on 5 year old, off-lease computers. SOME people benefit from 16GB+ RAM.

My parents used a 4GB laptop for 7 years, then upgraded this year it started being fragile. My main laptop has 24GB RAM (<10GB used right now despite all the virtualisation and other crap running) and I use a Surface Pro with 8GB.

Some people need 16GB RAM. If you're not sure, it's a cheap upgrade. 8GB is fine for most.

Spoken like a person who only opens 4 tabs in Chrome :)

        • Heh - I'm pretty terrible for keeping tabs open, only about a dozen after the last reboot.

But tabs prove my point: the majority of computer users don't use tabs, know what a tab is, or even use chrome - they use the browser in front of them or whatever the default browser is on their phone.

I'm still not sure how some people here still think computer power users, PC builders, etc are the majority and everyone is like them (and needs 9999GB RAM + a 4090). We're a tiny minority.

A long time ago, I used to work in an office of software developers - out of dozens of developers, only one or two had ever installed parts on their own computer. We're a tiny fraction of the population.

Most people don't need more than 8GB RAM, and those that do know that they do.

It doesn't take much to browse websites or watch Netflix.

With new batteries, those $250 Dells are an outstanding entry level PC solution.

      • i have intel gen 9 laptop with 16gb but very often it will just hang while the fan blasting out loud, probablly 10 seconds i can do nothing mouse not responding then back to normal… :(
chromes with tabs thats all. and sometimes youtube/ i suspect the processor and the igpu are the issue

        • 124 times out of 105, it's browser resource consumption in some way..
Can kill my Android that same way as my laptop with 16GB and one app easily..Chrone being the biggest culprit

        • Nah Chrome is the issue.

  • I can barely get out of bed on 16 these days. Might have to move to mini PC territory USB-C screen

  • Hi Can you do Windows 10 installed on Lat 7300?

    • Hi, yes we can. After ordering, please send us a msg with your requirement and we will prepare it accordingly.

    • +2

why do you prefer Win10 over Win11?

      • I have few enginneering programs that doesn't regonize WIN 11 and unable to run them

  • Awesome laptop, bought it from metrocom some time ago for my y8 kid, after she broke 2 brand new ones ;)

  • Hey OP, what’s the rough ETA for processing and delivery?

    • Keen to know also as I'm heading OS on Friday for 2 weeks and don't want anything delivered while I'm away..

      • Hi, the processing time will depend on the order queue unless priority processing and express shipping is selected. Thanks.

  • Damn missed out on the 7300

  • +1

What are the main differences between the 7300 and the 5300 considering similar specs?

    • Thanks OP missed on both the 7300 and 5300 so picked up the 7400. OP presume the only difference is the slightly larger size on the 7400 and 7300, everything spec and performance wise being equal.

  • Hey OP, is the new battery replacement a generic brand? What about the charger?

    • Hi, the battery is generic brand. We only provide generic charger wheh we are out of stock with original ones.

  • Latitudes are showing out of stock. Any chance of more stock coming up ?
