    Old Swiss brand, established 1883 as it says on the dial, so it just pre-dates automobiles. :)

    They were acquired by a younger brand, Frederique Constant, and served FC as their sportier type brand, whereas FC themselves focused on the dressier side. Both were then gobbled up by the massive Citizen Watch conglomerate who wanted an upmarket European presence.
