    • You can try the Universal Android Debloater NG. Must have for bloatware elimination. Be careful though, it is really powerful and you really do want to review what you are removing in case it breaks something else (e.g. NFC).

Then again the Moto series phones are pretty barebones, all things considered. Just remove the junk normally and you're good; you don't really need this tool.

        • Omg no do not listen to this man. Breaks integrity (rooting) and can't use tap and pay.

I did make the caveat that you don't need to use the tool and just normally uninstalling stuff if fine, and if whomever chooses to use this tool should exercise caution when using it. But just to be pedantic:

If using the ADB shell to remove packages using its inbuilt "pm uninstall" command which is exactly what the tool does, see the apply_pkg_state_commands() function in sync.rs, specifically lines 239 is rooting, then you might want to brush up on what rooting is.

Also, please refer to the android developer documentation for ADB, specifically the "uninstall command" (you might need to Ctrl+F "uninstall"). Notice how there is no reference to rooting the device in the official android documentation for the pm uninstall command which the tool essentially invokes.

With that out of the way, you might like to clarify the following for any other players who might want to embark on the same journey as the OP:

Major PITA cat and mouse game with Google. Breaks on average once a week.

      • Hi Shifter, do you know how to create/enable work profile on this moto G85? I cant find any option in settings->Passwords & Accounts, and in setting->systems.

        • Unfortunately I can't help you there. I don't have the moto G85, and I'm currently doing app development on my moto G54 so I can't reset mine to factory settings to check it. If you can't find it and:
          * You removed all the MDM related applications using a debloating tool or manually, factory reset and try searching for it again,
          * The device is in stock configuration, or you didn't you a debloating tool, or has already been factory reset, then maybe it doesn't have it in the stock image.

The fact that this android developer community post exists doesn't help; it could be Lenovo messing around with the update image which broke the work profile functionality.

  • Does the Westpac CB tracks at the same time as the normal one? Received the regular cashback notification hours ago but no sign for Westpac

  • +1

Aren't some countries banning Motorola devices? Would this device be different?

    • +2

      Which countries?

    • Maybe it will explode and mame you one day?

  • How is this compared vivo x50 pro, trying to replace my phone with green line screens and costs $450 replacement.

    • I have an x50 lite, and tbh I am struggling to think of a reason to upgrade. I drop my phone a fair bit and it's held up relatively well, and I use the headphone jack all the time

I also don't have issues with the processor, and despite people complaining that the g85 has an old proc, I don't think it would be an issue for most people.

That price is just taking you for a ride surely

Edit: checked ebay and prices indeed seem to be insane for that lcd

  • If I didn't just purchase my G54 5G for $220, I might have paid a bit extra to get this.

  • Total 'non' SBplus + Westpac Cashback $92.12 = $236.88 - TRS $29.91 = $206.97 net.

    • Nice. Similar spec iphone with slightly faster cpu is $1797. (iphone 16 pro 128gb)

  • What's everyone using for screen protector? Tempered or hydrogel?

    • From what I've read, screens with curved edges are often problematic with hydrogel screen protectors

      • I have s23u with curve screen and hydrogel protector and working better than tempered one. The tempered one didn't stick well especially around finger print area. Maybe only me.

  • Might as well pick one up for $294.78 :D thanks to 11.5% shopback

  • Damn, got one at this price. Went back for a second and it's ended :(
