  • Now if there is a 30% Mimco sale somewhere (what usually happens) this would be really worth it! If anyone in brisbane sees one please post.

    • I'll be waiting for CR sale.

  • Excellent - thanks OP! Just registered!

  • So do I get $75 off my credit card bill? O_o

    • +1

If it's anything like their previous similar offers, there will be a $75 credit transaction on your Amex account some time after you have made the eligible purchase.

  • +1

Be careful, I got stung with the Rebel Sport one, I ordered $52 worth of gear, but they split shipped it, which also means they split billed it… Therefore, no $50 or more transaction, no $25 rebate…

    • Online transactions, including gift card purchases, and department concession store transactions are not eligible for the $75 statement credit.

      • You mean… I actually have to visit a shop? A real shop? Made of bricks and mortar and stuff?

    • That's annoying, you should complain to Rebel sport. You were expecting to get a 50% discount, now you effectively paid full price. They may give you a credit or something.

if they didn't, i'd just get a refund but that's just me!

  • Excellent, thanks.

I've clicked the "let me know about offers" button every time but they never seem to actually email.

  • nice! just in time for the missus xmas present!

  • doh ! first it was binglee then rebel now this ? why is amex forcing people to spend money ! god dammit thanks op !

  • Thanks OP, just not sure I would spend $150 at one of these places

  • (excludes concession stores) .. this includes DFO outlets i would presume

    • This is mimco email I got: **Conditions apply. Limited to the first 5,000 registrants. Must spend $150 in one transaction. Available in-store only, excludes concession stores (David Jones and Myer). Offer valid 10.12.12 – 24.12.12.

It says department concession stores, have a feeling mimco outlet is actually named mimco at amex transaction, so does it count, so wanted to know!

      • WTF, DJ and Myer are excluded???????????

    • For anyone that has registered, I confirm that this offer DOES work at the Mimco store at Harbourtown DFO in Perth. Thanks for posting the offer!

  • where can u find a list of all the eligible offers without subscribing to the email?

  • I've been looking for a credit card and see a lot of AMEX deals

Is this a good card to get and is there certain types of AMEX cards that I should be looking at

    Cheers all

    • I got a Westpac altitude card. Good reward system and you get 2 cards linked to the same account. One visa and one Amex, you get more points when you use the Amex. It's convenient as not all places accept Amex.

  • Thanks OP

  • Do you know whether this applies to Country Road stores in Myer/DJs or only in their boutique stores?

    • Definitely excludes concession stores (David Jones and Myer), not sure if outlet is ok though.

      See T&Cs 3:

Online transactions, including gift card purchases, and department concession store transactions are not eligible for the $75 statement credit.

      • Does anyone know whether gift card purchased at the store is eligible? I don't think Amex can identify what was purchased from the transaction record.

  • Can you register bank issued cards eg CBA Amex?

      • oops.. sorry. Thanks.

  • tell the wife to go down to CR!! She will be upset.

Anyone seen any good AMEX credit card deals going around at the moment?

    • I have a platinum edge which is great coz I get a return flight per year as well as bonus points at coles, Woolworth, petrol etc.
My wife has even a better deal as she is a doctor and they get no fees and Qantas FF points

      • Did your wife get it through the college? How did she get it fee free if you don't mind me asking?

        • Yes she gets it the the RPA college or something.. Where she registered as a medical practitioner. Has a special stamp on her card.

She also got a free $200 or $300 David Jones Voucher and no credit checks. She just choose $6000 limit and bam its granted. Coulda got a higher limit if she wanted no problems. No need for bank statements, employment status.. its like I am a Doctor gimme

        • I've got a college card, but I'm pretty sure I pay a yearly fee.. so I was wondering how she gets it fee free?

        • (duplicate)

        • You might have a different level one? She has a basic gold card. Only 1 point per dollar and points are for Qantas FF. I think other level ones gives a free flight and/or bonus points
here is the link of cards you can get
          https://ama.com.au/node/8633/lightbox2

        • it is nothing special then. my gf has a similar card from CA. i can get one if i want from EA (not the game company :). (no annual fee)

iirc, ea offers discount on the annual fee of the platinum one, but being ozbargainer, i only want a platinum card without annual fee but with free flights :)

        • "but being an ozbargainer.." — lol, I agree. =D

    • This has always been an OzBargain favourite. The main deal is gone but it's still a good no annual fee card, free supplementary card with QFF points.

  • Edited: Wrong thread.

  • So how do we know if we are within the first 5000 applicants?

  • Just got an email from CR for card members offer of 20% off everything from Thursday 13 Dec to Sat 15 Dec (both instore and online - but online is available now), so If you've registered for this, it's another 20% discount from Tomorrow INSTORE ONLY to qualify for $75 back on $150 spend

    • could you please share the email?

  • So does anybody know if this deal is valid at their outlet stores?

  • If the stated limit of applicants for these amexconnect deals has been reached you will not be able to complete the registration process.

I registered for the Rebel Sport deal and received an email stating successful registration shortly after. I purchased a $50 gift card instore and the $25 was credited to my Amex account the next day.

    • +1

don't know about that…there are already 4060 clicks on the link, would think the 5000 would thus be reached by now :/

  • I tried the Target deal before this one and when I hit continue I got a message saying sorry, registrant numbers reached (or words to that effect). I also reviced a similar message when I tried to register a family members Amex card for the Rebel Sport offer after I had completed my own.

I registered for this offer and received the confirmation of sucessful registration email just before I made the previous post.

  • Does anyone know whether gift card purchased at the store is eligible?

  • Just went in store… they currently have 20% off for cardholders / people on their mailing list.

They didn't have the sale trousers I was after, however I got a non-sale pair for $189, minus 20% = $151.20 - $75 Amex rebate = $76.20 for a decent quality pair of work trousers.

Just need to find someone else with an Amex so I can get another pair! :)

Thanks for posting, perfect timing for me as I've lost some weight recently and my suit trousers need taking in at the waist… so I need some trousers to wear for a while until I stop shrinking! :)

  • I just went to Country Road in QVB Sydney today and they deducted the $75 off the total ($154) straight away. They said we could not get the 20% off member discount and the AMEX deal in the same transaction.

    • that's interesting rgtanna. i was wondering if they would allow the AMEX deal with the 20% off. i will ask before i start browsing as there is not really much i want in the store at the moment. not impressed with their current range of clothes!

      • Well… the Amex deal is separate so there's no reason you can't have the 20% off as well. Look at the Amex info - you spend $150+ in store and they credit you the $75 back onto your card - the $75 wasn't meant to be given in store!

    • That just means that you still have another chance to spend another $150 minimum for a $75 cashback from Amex.

  • yeah i just spent 190 odd which brought the total back to 154. they said the 75 discount will still qualify.

  • Awwww didn't read the condition and bought gift cards!!! Arrrrg! Can gift card be refunded?

    • Did you buy it in store? How could amex possibly know what you bought?

  • I don't know, hope they don't get the details. I bought some stuff but added gift cards to make up the total. Guess I can only wait and see.

    • Please update and let us know if you do get the refund, Thanks.

      • I got the email confirming I qualified for the $75 after using the 20% off.

        • Yes, but I am sure the amount you finally paid was still over $150, so of course you will get it!

What would be nice to know is that if you buy $150 of gift cards in store does that actually get you the $75 credit back? eg Can Amex really tell that the transaction amount is for gift cards…I am presuming they cannot!

      • got my $75 dollars in my account!

  • Expired. Max number registrations has been exceeded.

  • A great deal, but went in-store the other day, and walked out without buying anything, as most stuff looked "cheap" and cost a fortune $$$! Anybody else had the same experience?

    • I agree about an abundance of stock looking cheap and being expensive. However, I did find a pair of jeans and another pair of pants that were both well made costing $99 each. After applying the 20% off for card holders the total came to $158.40, then with the $75 refund they will be $41.70 each. At that price they are excellent.

Thank you so much jason_ruz. I'm thrilled.

Gift Cards bought in store are included. Confirmed on their facebook page!

    • Thanks. I think I'll get the gift cards and then wait for post xmas sale.

    • Can't find this on their FB, can you PM me the link?

      • +1

Go to Amex or CR facebook and scroll down to Dec 11. It is confirmed by both Amex and CR rep.

        • thank you!

    • Cheers! Gift cards it is

  • Just wondering, how do you hear about these Amex promotions?

  • I went to CR got the members 20% discount and used my Amex, now waiting for the $75 to come back to my account.

    • How do you get the members card?

      • Free to join instore i'm pretty sure. However i did it ages ago.

  • I just got the $75 credited to my account.
I also got the 20% member discount at the time of purchase.

    Pretty happy with that!

has anyone tried returning the goods after receiving the credit?

  • 25% off at Mimco until xmas it seems (on most things)

  • Long long does it take before the $75 goes back into your account? I'm still waiting…

    • mine took about 3 days

    • I have not received mine either. It's been almost 10 days since my purchase. Anyone experienced the same? Should I ring amex?

      • I got the email today, so about 5 days, but waiting for the credit to come through..

        • I got the registration confirmation email on 11th dec.
I shopped at country road on 12th dec,
However haven't received any further emails and haven't received the credit either.
          Any help?

        • I got both $75. One of them was processed on 25 December and just one day after my purchase on 24th.

  • Bought Country Road gift card on 23rd and still haven't received any email from Amex

    • on the same boat mate. havent received anything. rang up american express on 26th about it and they just gave me a reference number and said they would forward it on to marketing team. the gentleman on the phone stated that there was some issues with merchant not passing on the information onto AMEX etc.

anyhow i still havent heard back from amex since that call or received any credit. very disappointed

      • May I have the phone number please

        • +1

          Sorry for late reply, I called 1300 736 659

    • Bought $155 goods from Country Road South Wharf store on Dec 15th, so far, I haven't got the $75 back.

Any phone number or email address i can send my enquiry to?

      • I called 1300 736 659. issue still not resolved however

        • I have a CBA branded Amex card, and not rebate received. It's so hard to chase this up as CBA know nothing about this rebate.
