    Maximum Throw Distance 9999.99
    I presume that's millimetres.

    • +31

If it was Kilometers we could project at the yanks.

      • +41

The yanks project themselves onto the world so they deserve it

      • +18

^ This is the comment I was talking about guys! Flat earth confirmed!

        • +1

Maybe it’s powerful enough to cut through the crust and mantle, a la the inferior total recall.

        • +4

Point it upwards and we can watch movies on the dome

  • +2

I have the low end projector from this brand and it's great for the bedroom. This would be an amazing upgrade, but that price is just way, way too much.

    • +15

If it was a similarly priced tv would you find it more digestible

      • +3

Not really. It's not about value, it's about budget at the end of the day. This is nowhere near within budget.

  • FYI this one doesn't have an internal battery, others in ankers range do, makes it slightly less portable than its marketed as

  • +28

This is only priced at $1,899 on the nebula website. I don't think the $3,995 is too accurate.

That’s not the original RRP; rather a clearance price they had before selling out. It was released in 2022 for $4250 and appears to have been listed at that price until the end of 2023 (source; web.archive.org). Then it dropped to $2499 around April 2024 and finally down to $1899 before selling out.

  • Where can you see those in person to try it out

    • The Nebulae store at your local shopping centre of course

    2200 ANSI lumens sounds decent

I guess this one is the older generation and the new ones like the Hisense C2 Ultra is a significant step up?

    • +1

Hisense is a triple laser and brighter. This Anker is a single laser with, I assume, a colour wheel. I expect the Hisense to have better colour.

Looking at how small the Hisense is compared to last gen three laser set ups with similar brightness, I guess the improvement is better efficiency, as last gen required large heat sinks for similar output.

These projectors are excellent if you frequently travel. I use a 800 lumen single laser short throw at night when travelling. I am in no rush to upgrade to a higher output model.

If this is for a long term set up, I recommend using a laser projector suited for the room, instead of a laser projector designed for travel.

      • Thanks for the input. I’ve also done some research and it seems to me the equivalent normal projectors from Epson and the likes with the same features and specs of the lifestyle projectors like the Hisense C2 are a lot more expensive though?

        • +2

Yep. Formovie are usually best bang for buck in this product type, but if you buy a Chinese firmware unit, you may need google translate to configure.

          • @Pussqunt: When the Dangbei Atom came out the Formivie got discounted to pretty tempting prices.

    • +2

If you're thinking about the C2 Ultra, I'd recommend having a look at the Valerion Visionmaster Pro2 and Max. Sister brand of Awol known for their UST's (Valerion is their longthrow alternative). They're currently on Kickstarter and getting lots of positive early feedback on AVSForum. I've pledged for the Max at $3,350 delivered (incl tax and shipping) and in early feedback the Pro2, which is $150 cheaper than the Max and which will be available in Dec, is trouncing the C2U ;)

  • Yeah anker do good stuff

  • +2

It is like this price for couple of times already

  • +1

Lacklustre reviews on this projector. Caveat emptor etc etc

  • +2

I've had the 4k model for 1 or 2 months (not the old model and not the se or whatever it is cut down model they just put out - not sure what this one is it's sometimes hard to figure out the model number). It's been amazing for inside play day or night and not too bad outdoor play. If I take it camping I'll have to get a portable battery back, never bought one before tho so still investigating and looks like $2k for that which is like woah.
This projector replaced my lounge room TV.
If anyone has any questions let me know.

    • Oh, I do have one qualm, when pairing my LG T90 bluetooth ear buds I can't adjust the volume from either my Galaxy phone nor the projector. It stays a low volume. Not sure what's up. I enailed them a couple weeks ago and nothing back.

      • Try adding a Fire stick and connecting by BT to that. It's been pretty bulletproof for me.

        • Cheers will grab one

  • I got this on the last $1,499 Amazon sale. It's been in a box waiting for me to use it… I also picked up the Nebula Capsule 3 Laser (Google TV model) which is an awesome portable projector. Anker make good quality products.

Thinking I will replace my C3 OLED with this. The pictures from the promo pics look like it produces pretty vibrant picture and the blacks look just as good as OLED. Not sure if they are pictures of it in actual use or have been enhanced, but i think it would be illegal to do that

    • +9

It states 1000:1 contrast ratio so the colour:blacks would be nowhere near as good as OLED. No projector can reach that level

      • -2

Ozb king of the stat responses to this device are pretty funny, stats are stats. I have a 55 inch LG c1 oled 2022 in my bedroom and did some comparison watching that vs my anker 4k same room blinds down. My eyes deceived me a lot because only noticed a bit more black on the anker, maybe some writing not quite as good. By a bit more, I mean not very much. Everything else pretty comparable. 55 inch vs 120 ish inch that is.

    • +1

With a projector, the black regions are simply your white wall with little to no light projected on it. But in contrast to a brightly lit region next it, the wall looks black to our eyes. Technically, if the projector is bright enough and ambient light dim enough, it's contrast ratio can be as good as an OLED…I guess.

As for this projector, I don't really have a visual understanding of how bright 2200ansi so can't comment on real life contrast ratio.

      • no projector can reach the contrast ratio of even a basic LCD TV, forget OLED! HDR and dark scenes make any projector sweat… you see max 70-80% detail in dark scenes.. may be even less with a budget projector like this! Yes you get big screen, but way inferior quality. So it is the classic qn of quantity vs quality :-) Then you have all the other compromises like watch at night only or make your room pitch dark, fan noise, start/stop delay etc..

I have a BenQ TK800 HDR 4k projector (3000 lumen), but my Sony LCD/LED 4K TV from 10 yrs back crushes it every time with detail, contrast and colors!

I think these days a 100" TV would make more sense than a laser projector + ALR screen as the price is comparable..

        • My friend this is a $4000 projector, this is probably more high end than what Hoyts Cinema uses.

          • @soaringphoenix: I hope you are joking :-)

$1,899 on the nebula website itself! I would think Anker rebranded projector would be worse than BenQ

  • +3

I wonder if this is 37x better than my $40 projector?

    • +4

Compared to a $40 projector it's about 50 times better in brightness alone. (50-100 ansi vs 2200 ansi). Only after $500 projectors you'll get diminishing returns.

  • How does this compare to my BenQ x3100i? Considered swapping to laser.
