We got one a few weeks ago at the lower price ($30990), I love it.
Was looking at a Hybrid SUV ZS but once we drove the MG4 we were sold.
It drives so well - handles great and acceleration is so smooth, heaps of reviews out there - all are positive.
Comes with a lot of features, even on the base model (Excite).
    Servicing is every 2 years.
    Bad Points are:
    - No speakers in the rear/Speakers are not so great. But you can always upgrade this.
    - Tailgate door is hard to start moving, but ok once you lift it an inch or two.
    - No Frunk, though there are some mods you can do.

That's about all I can think of that I don't like about it.

    • Yep, I'm 800km in with mine and love it. The speakers are literal garbage though, although messing with the EQ makes them a big better.

      • What did you do with the EQ

        • Can't remember exactly but I think I boosted the bass and the treble, kind of had to fiddle for a bit.

  • Front not too bad. Rear ugly. As usual, no design cohesion.

In the short term, the flooding of the market is going to increase competition and bring value, but eventually when the old guard refuse/can't compete on price, they will pack up and leave. What happens then? Less choice for consumers and, with no one to compete with, brands will push up prices.

I thought this is EV discussion, not Coles and Woolworths.

The petrol savings will pay itself after 7 years @ $2500

That's $17.5k - how do you figure it pays for itself?

$20,000 for brand new of these and the game is over for jap car makers.

    • Enter the Xpeng Mona 3…. Game over

"Enter the Xpeng Mona 3…. Game over"

    Too expensive - $41,000

  • "Mona M03 pricing is tipped to start below CNY200,000 ($A41,300), but other models in the pipeline are expected to open at just CNY100,000 ($A20,600)."

    What other models?

Picked up mine 2 weeks ago:
    - Got black for no extra charge
    - Paid extra for windows
    - Base model and its still soooo fast. Worried about getting fined.
    - My mic was broken from the get go and MG havent been able to fix it so far, they are waiting for a part to come from China mid Nov to replace it under warranty. They did give me a replacement car for the three days they investigated it.
-Android auto needs a decent cable (minimum Ikea cable) - but there are wireless options on aliexpress (carlinkit)
-the app is actually half decent and you can schedule charging
-You should be able to easily ask for the previous price. I reckon its just pricing rules stopping them from advertising at that price.

Shame about the mic bit the service has been good and the car drives well.

Even with the mic issue: would recommend. Amazing value for money.

  • I do love the sound of EVs. They have to turn up their radio to be annoying. They should be compulsary. 10 year warranty, how good are they with that. Does it cover the battery.
When the world war happens will I still be able to drive to the shelter or will they turn it off from China.

When WW3 happens, the alive will envy the killed;) If there is electricity for your fridge, it will be for EVs. Petrol will stop coming from Russia (via China), but your iPhone can still be remotely triggered with Apple Un-intelligence (like the pagers;)

      • This is why I always buy Apple phones and American cars, so I don't get blown up remotely. (I hear the Chinese are good at copying other's ingenuity)

I leased an Excite51 through a novated lease during the Sep-Oct sale. It offers solid driving dynamics, and the suspension handles most B roads comfortably. While the interior might not hold up over time, if you're not particularly focused on resale value—common with many BEVs (or cars in general)—this makes an excellent choice as a first BEV or a second car.

  • Thanks for sharing the deal!

Has anyone achieved good pricing on a novated lease in WA? Over east dealers are doing novated leases at $30k drive away but not sure if anyone is getting that price in WA or still just getting the $31k for novated lease?

Oops… Try to get old price or close! Lol… Only been a weeks difference. Our list of additions were: all floor mats, 10000km check free (not service, but may include firmware) and checking or fixing the under tray tsb before delivery. Car drives like it's on rails and good pickup.

    • I managed 31.5k including mats and boot liner - should be picking up Thursday.

But insurance is about $1600. How’s your insurance and who with if you don’t mind?

A few people on the forums note Shannon’s as a good option or RAC (may depend on state).

        • +1

Thank you good sir - RACQ to the rescue at $1100 bucks. Can I “buy you a coffee” somehow? (Cash/gift card, not a date)

@WhyAmICommenting: Awesome!! I don’t often comment so I’m glad it helped! I’d seen them both noted by others, so the real credit goes there. Haha and I like the clarification.

I’ve used RAC for a claim in WA before and found they were pretty good (it was a not at fault claim though where the other driver was also with them, so maybe that made it smoother).

If you (or anyone else) finds good fitting cloth seat covers I’d be keen to hear though! The only ones I can find online are leather style. I’ll check out super cheap etc when I get mine, hopefully universal size ones fit OK.

Hey, I joined team Red with a base MG4, started a discussion on suggestions \ accessories for new EV owners.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/875738

  • It seems all dealers have this for 41K and above? Only the mg website has it for 32K but going to any of my local mg dealer websites it's listed for 41K. Where to you actually buy this for 32K? Lol

    • If you check on carsales they should all be at the $33k price. If you’re buying on a novated lease they’ll likely still do $31k (or in Victoria can be $30k I think if you haggle). Not sure if you can get the same price without a novated lease but worth a shot!

      • how is buying via novated lease cheaper?

        • +1

Some of the lease providers will negotiate on your behalf to get closer to fleet pricing. I’ve seen a few comments online around people getting lower pricing via novated leases on mg4s til end Dec. You can maybe haggle the same price to buy direct but I’m not sure. Probably hit and miss but worth asking.

The price has increased $2k again. Now $34,990.
