  • Damnn.., just got mb14 m3 pro 1tb from OW. Been 1 week, used a bit. Any idea if they will do a return ???

    • +29

We all saw this coming. Seriously, why did you buy last week?

      • Got 15% off by price beating, so pulled the trigger, didn’t thought m4 is going to be cheaper.

        • +5

I did the same but haven’t picked up the order yet. Just called the morning to cancel and order the m4 pro.
I did not expect Apple to effectively reduce their price on the Max version.

        • +4

They won't do a change of mind return if it's used.

There's always something newer and a better deal around the corner. It doesn't negate that you got a good product and a good price. Too many people on OzBargain suffer from shopping addictions, we'll be happier if we focus on enjoying what we've got :)

    • +1

Damn pretty unlikely but worth a shot. I know Apple itself gives you a while to refund no questions asked but I also know Officeworks has one of the worst refund policies imo

      • Ive refuneded 3 ipad 3 weeks later no issues at officeworks.

    • Needs to be in new, sealed condition for returns

    • -1

if you are polite and act upper class you can return anything to OW as long as you used it carefully

I returned Mac's to OW after around month of use

      • And what exactly does "act upper class" mean to you? 🤔

        • +1

Bullying the employee while their manager glares at them from the back

        • +10

being super polite, smiling, confident, not leaving until you get your refund.

acting surprised by their return policy. after all, it's not your problem the product doesn't meet expectations, and not theirs either.

don't make it "you vs. them", you're working together with them to resolve an issue. does this sound clear enough?

I've returned a few items that genuinely didn't meet expectations, who cares what return policy they have, it's just words and I can talk, too.

but ideally do your research and don't buy expensive stuff impulsively, you won't be able to force your way like this every month.

          • +6

@shabaka: OW has previously accepted my return for an open box iPad Pro. No questions asked.

I was in my $5 T-shirt and thongs but I guess I’ve aced upper class acting.

            • @tc423: open box is usually not a problem

now used for a bit is a different story

              • @shabaka: When I say bit , it was maximum 4 hrs for the whole week. Thanks heaps for the tips.

            • +3

@tc423: I rocked in with a VB longneck at twenty to eight in the morning and got a return done.

I was there yesterday and inquired about change of mind. The staff said as long as you have all the packing material and it can be packed back without missing parts they can replace it within 30 days. Give it a go.

      • Normally keep the box but on this occaision tossed it. Just bought the M3 Air for $2k from OW - Damn!

      • That’s great.. I am stupid enough, I also got 1 year apple care. Any idea if that can be cancel?

    • Does Apple's change of mind policy not apply if you buy it elsewhere?

  • +1

MBA ram increased to 16GB also

    • Nice pickup, makes M3 base model very tempting

    • All laptops, even the old ones now come 16GB default, don’t be surprised someone posts that as a deal haha 😝

  • Apple is flexing at the end of the video MacBook presentation with the M4 guy flipping around with the weights. Lol

  • +7

"Only 8gb ram" party has ended - even on macbook air

    • +1

We might probably see "Only 16gb ram" why not 24gb or even 32gb party coming … love to see Apple finally wakes up and listen …

      • +1

it will be 'only 256/512gb' first

16gb ram minimum is only because of apple intelligence, otherwise it surely would have still been 8gb base.

  • Any ideas if there will be any decent deals on MacBook Air? And can I use Apple gift cards on this?

    • How is the M3 now with 16gb on AOC with 10% of approx using Apple GC Coles deal not ‘decent’?

      • I read that someone on here has had trouble redeeming Apple GCs on the AOC website.

        • Very unlikely, some people on here have difficulty paying cash at the corner store

          • @Fancydancer: Good point..I don't want to be stuck with $2k of Apple gift cards.

            • +1

@JimB: There is a small risk you might be checked by Apple and found not eligible to use AOC. There is also very small risk Apple GC may have been tampered with, check packaging carefully at the store before purchase and immediately after paying redeem the GCs to your Apple account.

  • Does anyone know if the Mac Mini can be packaged? I don't want to pay 2.5x more!

    • Huh?

      • +1

I think they meant salary sacrifice/packaging?

  • +1

Stack with Apple Gift Cards deals for more saving: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/872978

    • Considering all the tampered cards and activation failures, I wouldn’t risk it.

Gamble $2000 to save $200 not worth it imo.

      • +2

At least when I purchased mine, they are more than happy for me to open the package to check the serial number match first.

In reality it's quite hard to tamper with the card as the seal is tamper-resistant.

Besides, to max out the 20x points that you can collect, all you need is 5 cards (variable cards load up to $500 each). Not much efforts to save up to $250 worth of groceries (or even more if you can use it on flights).

  • does this need any edu account/verification ?

  • That is really good specs for base M4!

    • Yup, the non-Pro chipped MBP finally has a reason to exist.

M3-only MBP was a scam, but M4 fills the spot of the previous 13-inch MBP quite perfectly.

  • -1

Will be really interesting to see how the M4 compares to the base M1 pro, both being quite similarly priced.

  • No more space grey … which I like that color more than space black

    • I hear you, I got the space gray M1 pro MBP 14. best colour ever

ppl say silver should be the best colour durability wise, but after about a year with space gray I am yet to see any issues with it

      • Prob becoz I have been looking at my silver 2012 mb pro daily too long, and if I can afford one, will not be silver again …

  • looks like no real reason to consider upgrade from M1 Pro MBP 14

M4 may be a bit more efficient in terms of battery life, but memory bandwidth still gimped compared to M1 pro

everything else same, maybe AV1 hardware codec added in M4 might matter to some folks

  • -1

Can anyone advise if Officeworks will match and price beat the AEU price? Thanks!

  • +1

I have the 2021 14inch MacBook Pro m1pro. How much better is this m4 vs the base m1pro ?

not in-depth comparison, but I am in the same boat, and see no reason to "upgrade". yeah single core might be faster, battery life a bit longer on M4, but losing out on GPU cores and memory bandwidth

so no reason to lose money (most definitely) on an "upgrade"

      • If I were to sell my MacBook Pro for say $1500. Then it would only be $725 to upgrade. With flybys 20x points I could redeem about $200 in officeworks gift cards. And if I travel in next 3 months claim trs. So it may still be good to just upgrade. If you stack everything.

        • but why? just not sure why all this trouble

          • @shabaka: My M1 Pro keeps getting dark spots on my screen I went into Apple today and they will fix it free for a second time. I think once they give it back to me I’ll probably just try to sell it on marketplace or eBay and get an upgrade. Just kinda over the screen issues I kept getting. Atleast the new one I’ll get a new warranty.

            • @Bonesaw321: sorry to hear that

I am wondering what kind of money I could expect for 16gb/1tb

happy with mine tho. no real reason for upgrade, apart from getting latest gen

        • TRS has a 60 day time limit from date of purchase not 3 months. Hopefully this stops someone from being severely disappointed before they fly out!

    • +1

yea I am with the M1 Pro with 32gb ram too. got it on Nov 21 and was also tempted to do an upgrade to the m4 pro.
tbh, the laptop is perfectly fine and doing what it needs to do, but it's so tempting to look at as well as with 10% off and TRS ….

Apple M4 Max chip with 14‑core CPU, 32‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
      36GB unified memory
      1TB SSD storage

      @ $4,367.00

  • Too heavy for a base config. This machine is a half hearted engineering decision. When they chopped the 13” MBP they just ripped out half the cooling on the 14” Pro and make it the new base model. But the chassis is bulkier and heavier as it was originally designed for the higher tdp M- Pro series chips.

  • Can we get TRS refund on Education pricing

    • Thank you @kizzaaa

    • Is it just me or are there way too many configurations? Seriously how did they manage to bin so many SoCs lol, I wish the lineup were simpler….

I assume it’s a pricing strategy to get more upgrades but I find it annoying having different cup spec within the tiers

  • Will wait until JB do their 10% off, then use all my free GC money from their Telstra plan deals ;)
