  • Was keeping an eye on these. Good to check it out for half the price. Thanks.

Wonder if somewhere I can buy plugs for different countries.

    • Cancelled my order as per all comments

I know the meme is to post on HEYMIX deals that they're going to explode and burn my home down, but surely, they're not that bad if posts are still being upvoted and 100 click throughs in 5 minutes?

Was it one particular product of theirs that got broken down and shown to be an issue as opposed to everything they produce?

    • +10

a deal for a poo toy also got upvoted and received 872 clicks …

this particular hexmix charger only has 57% 5 star reviews. you might get lucky

    • +1

I thought the same, got one of these… It worked, until one day it didn't maybe 6 months latter. At least it didn't go boom, but I'll think twice before buying them again.

    • I have heymix monitor arms, power board and charger for over a year or 2. I’ve yet to have my house burn down.

      • +5
        • scary stuffs

        • Yep that’s the one. Looks like I’m in for some fun. Hell yeah

          • +4

@iDeker: Well, you should be fine. Based on that and other Amazon reviews, just hope you:

            • Don't have a surge
            • Don't overload the board
            • Don't connect an item that has issues with miswiring
            • Don't run USB devices with heavy load
            • The board doesn't come apart exposing you to live wire.
            • -1

@ihfree: Ok sounds easy enough. I do love to live on the edge, by not checking wattages ect. A surge could happen any day

        • Mods need to insert this link into every Heymix post

        • This should be illegal and whoever imports this stuff to AU should be in jail:

The "circuit breaker" is just a switch, the "surge protection" is just an LED
[…] they miswired the active and neutral

    • +1

I got 2 of these 3/4 years ago, use everyday and still OK. But the cygnet power plus I got from Telstra nearly caught fire so… Ymmv

    • I've been using one of their basic power banks for the entire year. No issues so far and it has great ratings on Amazon. I'm guessing their products vary in reliability… this one in particular only has 57% 5 star reviews as someone else pointed out.

      • On the other hand, every time a Heymix deal comes up and the usual arguments ensue that link into past threads it's fantastic anti-advertising for this brand. New users become aware of the terrible quality reputation.

And credulous tightwads who don't understand the concept of probability or value their wellbeing will continue to think "I have never had a problem with this one device therefore all their other devices must be perfect." They will never be convinced otherwise and there's no point trying.

No deal. I’ve seen far too much negative feedback.

Even in the reviews of this very product.

On Facebook Seller offers Paypal 100% refund after that in exchange for 5s review.

I have been investigating this store for over 2 years now and monitoring their activities. Over a dozen user accounts have been banned. See my last comment back in 2023
We want people / Ozbargainers to be honest, not be greedy and help the store out in exchange for free products, you're just letting yourself (and other consumers) down by writing false reviews

Flawed design with exposed live pins. Look at review pictures

    • What expose live pins ?

    • +8

All those reviews have stated that Heymix contacted them and offered a solution that they were happy with, but none of them elaborate on what that solution was lol. It's so dodgy.

I wonder if they got a full refund and got to keep the product

      • +4

what else.. the solution must be $$$

      • +7

This is yet another Heymix seller, but that certainly has happened in the past

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12196338/redir

Left a review about it on Amazon, then they emailed me offering a refund if I changed my review. I ignored the email.

      • yep! I did!

      • +2

It's basically a bribe the way I see it, even if it is just a full refund

        • +1

Agree. Bad unsafe products from a equally bad bussiness practices company.

    • -1

I brought one of these a couple of months ago, and I don't have this issue. I believe they have sorted it.

      • The issue is with the extension cord, not the AU powerplug. Can you please confirm? A picture would be good too.

        • +6

          CORRECTION:

I just checked my recently purchased charger and there are exposed pins. So this issue persists on recent purchases.

          https://imgur.com/a/sqpeWkF

I wouldn't say it's a huge issue, I'll continue to use mine. But yeah, I don't want to downplay this. If this is an issue for you, don't buy it.

          • +1

@guidedlight: can you just put a waterproof tape on it just worry some splash of water or insect going in

            • @CyberMurning: Yes, easily. The pins aren't too close to the surface, I had to get the light angled just right to photograph them.

      • +1

Could be an issue with a batch but as far as actual fixes go, it is highly unlikely there is any intentional action.

Taking the power board as an example which was posted in 2022 -
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/739401#comment-12996125

You have reviews from April this year suggesting that it is still an issue -
        https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/customer-reviews/R3IFP12D6U0ANY…

As a bonus, in that powerboard's reviews:

I had this powerboard sitting underneath a computer stand and when I tried to insert another plug into the board, it started sparking and arcing so reached in on the side of the board to move it. I received a very nasty shock. The back of the board had come away from the front and I had inadvertently been touching the electrical components inside of the board. This could have killed me.

        • The reversing live and nuetral wires,…..just wondering if this is wired for China

as their plugs are similar to ours but upsude down 180 degress I believe?

Just a wild possibility maybe, still wrong and unsafe for us in Oz though.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: no need to be confused, the answer is yes and yes

yes they are upside down vs australia

      • I brought one of these a couple of months ago, and I don't have this issue. I believe they have sorted it.

Any company that knowing let stuff like this go out anyway, when it shouldn't have passed just a simple eyeball test, cannot be trusted.

Doesn't matter if this issue is sorted- what other issues remain or have been introduced?

      • People still don’t know the difference between Brought and Bought.

    too cheap to ignore

    reviews said
Don't buy this, the USB charging ports don't work. Plugged my Garmin watch in with 20% battery came back 4 hours latter and it had 17% charge. This is a dud.
Unable to charge laptop. Tried multiple different cables. No issues with other 65W chargers.
Really wanted to like this but the one I got was defective.
As shown in the attached photo, if using the device as a powerboard, via the provided extension cord, there is a small gap (approximately 1mm) where the extension cord connects to the actual charger, and that gap exposes live electrical contacts. If this charger were sitting on a table, and something like a drink was spilled across the table, not even directly onto the charger itself, it's likely the liquid would come into contact with the exposed contacts and become energised, posing a real risk of electrocution. Not sure this sort of design meets Australian standards.
Further to the above issue, a number of times when plugging devices into the AC outlets on the charger, visible and audible sparks were emitted from the sockets, that's fun!

pdated: after 2 months one port defected, the charge come out intermittently!!
the product has a design fault. A gap exposed metal conectors inside. moreover, only 1 port can do PD

  • +5

Just in time for Diwali lighting of candles and sparklers

  • +1

I haven't used any Haymix products before. Bought one to see. 20 bucks is cheap for an extension + 65w PD.
Probably not one to go for daily use or to keep connected to power.

    • +1

Probably not one to go for daily use or to keep connected to power

Then what's the point of even buying it?

      • +1

Backup charger. I can keep this near the couch or somewhere I may need to charge my phone.
Might even use it as a backup extension cord.

        • +1

Saving a few dollars to get a charger that you need to supervise to ensure it doesn't burn your house down.

          Sounds smart. 👍

          • @Aureus: I have about 6 PD chargers at home that I can use before this.
How many houses have gotten burned down from this charger?

            • +2

@Schrodinger: One would be too many.

              • @pjetson: Fair enough. I'll try stress testing this once I get it.
Anyway, I'll probably use this to power my soldering iron so that I don't have to unplug and carry one of my Baseus chargers of the same form factor (this one looks like a clone of it).
                Those chargers are really nice.

            • +2

@Schrodinger: So this is backup charger #7?

              Defense through depth, FTW!

            • +1

@Schrodinger: dont be afraid just make sure you have one backup house too for each one heymix

  • Hmm this looks great - shame to hear it's faulty.

Can anyone recommend a similar product with both powerpoints and usb points that can safely sit on your desk?

  • Got one to add to my Heymix collection.

  • +2

    Ok cancelled mine,

  • +4

Spend some more money for one that doesn’t blow up and break

  • +6

I know people like to hate on Heymix, but I looked it up on the EESS database and it does seem to have the Australian certified tick:

    https://i.imgur.com/j56Krid.png

Whether that means anything is up to you.

    • Some people argue they can fake the certificates for some of their products. Amazon is still selling them soz.

  • +2

as we've seen time and time again, heymix products as a whole aren't to be trusted. even though they're just another brand that slap their label on oem stuff, somehow they always pick bad oem stuff.

zyron isn't that much more expensive for similarly high-spec chargers when they go on sale

  • i have a 120w heymix charger at home, used for charging powerbank or other stuff, however i notices that when single port output over 60w of power the charger can get hot after 10 to 20mins maybe because the out shell is made of plastic. Now i give the charger to my parents which they only need it for charging mobile device should be a big problem after all

    • I don't think that's saying much, are there chargers that don't get hot after charging 60w or above?

      • Should get warm, but not hot.

        • The charger that comes with my macbook gets hot, does that make it bad or abnormal?

          • @Butt Scratcher: I guess "hot" is subjective. I would think the macbook charger would be pretty high quality.

      • i mean after 20mins from what i feel it goes up to 50-60℃. All i want to say is that because the shell is made of plastic, there is some problems with heat dissipation.

        • If it goes there and stabilises at some reasonable temp, should be alright.

  • +1

The exposed ports are on the long extension cord but if you have the different global plugs that clip in without the extension cable there is no gap when they are installed. So the poor design is with the longer cables plug. As for the charging consistency I have noticed issues occasionally but been unable to narrow it down to the charger or the usb cables or connections. I also have both this version and the more expensive version with the colour display. It seems to display all the same connection issues.

  • +1

May be a reason they are getting rid of stock on hand

  • I have a HEYMIX Universal 65W Travel Adapter. It works, but it gets noticeably hot.
However it’s just for travel, I won’t be leaving it to charge overnight.

    • hot charger is always not a good sign… if you cant hold it comfortably then it is too hot and dangerous

  • -3

FYI, it only takes 240V. That means in Japan, it wouldn't work. Didn't test this though

    • -1

I dont think thats true, someone posted this on amazon

      https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61lhEvViUqL.jpg

      • -1

Well, on the amazon page, it says 240v. I have a different product from the same company and all of them on Amazon state 240v. Hence, why I said I didn't test it. Do check the embossed input voltage to see if it is 100-240v as brochures are not trustworthy.

        • Up to you, but I think most people trust the document that comes with the product more than amazon's listing.

Spec's in amazon's field isn't exactly known for its accuracy

  • Thanks Ordered 2.

    • +1

you hate your 2 houses that much, eh

  • Nah, HeyMix, don’t mix with electricity.

  • Expired?

    • think as GOD is looking after you mate, preventing you to buy this

  • I ran a poll a while ago and it looks like a lot of people have used Heymix without issue, so I'm not surprised with the upvotes here. There was also larger majority that won't buy Heymix based on feedback. Obviously this was just a random Ozbargain poll so it doesn't accurately capture reality. It would be nice to know how safe these products are as the upvote to downvote ratio isn't a good indicator. Anyway, please (continue to) report your findings.
