Ryobi 18V ONE+ 4.0Ah Starter Kit (Battery and Charger) $99 Delivered ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

930

Not a bad price considering the battery on its own is $149 and the other regular 4.0AH starter kit is also $149. For further comparison, the 2.0AH starter kit with the same charger is $89.

Only downside is it comes the basic slow charger. In the past I have just sold these off for $10-$20 or so on FB market place.

I tried adding it to my cart while logged out (OnePass member) and it showed as being eligible for free standard delivery. This is in Canberra. Your location may be different.

Reasonable amount of stock around but fairly sporadic, with some stores having heaps in stock and many with nil stock. Also none in N.T.at time of posting. https://nrby.in/bunnings/0518241

  • How does everyone hang up their charger? Sit on the workbench or is there a way to put it on a pegboard/wall?

Is this a good enough deal for me to begin my battery tool journey on the side of #TeamRyobi vs #TeamOzito?

    • +3

I started Ryobi then switched to Ozito as all my Ryobi batteries started dying. You can get 3 x 4AH Ozito batteries for the price of one Ryobi…

      • +1

I still have ryobi batteries that are 8 year's old and still going strong. I have one old battery that has stored working on some devices, as the contacts are worn. All i need is new contacts.

sold my Ryobi and bought Ozito. For the amount I use them Ozito is fine and has lasted. Nothing wrong with either from my experience. I enjoy buying tools when I need them and not having to wait for Ryobi specials all the time #TeamOzito

Or join team AEG and never have to worry about getting them on sale….

…because they never go on sale 😂

        • Sometimes they (AEG) run a promo where you get a battery with mower, etc though.

        • Ive gotten so much clearance AEG the last couple of years. I got a 5 piece kit with 2x6ah batteries for $400 a while back. Picked up 6x2ah batteries for $12.50 each and a couple of hybrid fans for $60 each. Also picked up a brushless 1/2 inch impact wrench for $130 and a stealth impact driver for $35. The omni multitool for $60 and the jigsaw head, recip saw head and right angle drill head for less then $20 each.
There are more but those are the highlights. Need to be in the right place at the right time and have a happy chat with the staff.

          • @DarwinBoy: From bunnings or? Its rare for us to see clearance AEG in Melbourne , unless I’m in the wrong place at the wrong time

People know that AEG, Ryobi and Milwaukee are all owned by the same parent company (TTI) right?

          • +9

@jason andrade: And? Nestle own KitKat and Giorgio Armani. Just because they have the same parent company doesn't mean they make all the same products…

          • @jason andrade: I've tried both the ryobi and aeg whipper snippers…and the aeg one works and does a great job, the ryobi one is properly annoying; wasn't as powerful and the line dispenser next to useless.

You'd be surprised how few parent companies actually exist in the world haha. Choice is a illusion.

            • @incipient: And samsung own jbl and harmon kardon, plus samsungs biggest IT customer is apple.

          • @jason andrade: Red tool better than green tool!

    • Personally I've collected plenty of batteries and chargers from kits, so I would say no.

I'd suggest finding a kit for the tool(s) you want.

    • I'm on #TeamNobody

Got tools from kits where the deals have been good (AEG, Ryobi, Ozito, Ferrex/Workzone)

Unsurprisingly filled out my tools before ever getting a Milwaukee or Makita or those other more expensive tradie brands.

(My point being that I can jump on most clearance prices I come across cos I already have a battery + charger, none of this locked-in business)

    real men use ozito

    • +1

yea, i can get 3 ozito batteries for the same price

      • Ask a bunnings employee, how much ozito goes in the bin.

    • Lol ozito and bunnings both void the warranty as soon as you use it on a real job. Warranty is only for play use, trade use is immediately void. Its explicity stated on their t & c that its not for serious trade work

Ps. Ryobi’s warranty is similarly restricted.

Can confirm, I’m female and have Ryobi.

  • I got the hammer drill with dual batteries kit ( 4ah and 2ah) for $70 off clearance, seems like good find. The drill has 2022 date, but for $70 i don’t mind.

You can give your old Dyson new life and buy a Ryobi Adapter.

That's why I'll use my Dyson V5 until it dies.

    • +1

Yes the adapters work ok, but because the dyson is 21V and the Ryobi battery is 18V they don't work as well on high power and soon start to pulse or stop working

      • Interesting. I haven't experienced this. My V8 has only ever pulsed when there was a blockage. I can turbo from full battery to flat with no hassles.

    • You could give your old Dyson two new lives and buy an Ozito adaptor :/
      $99.98 for 2x Ozito 18V batteries and a fast charger :/

  • +1

Had a friend print one of these > https://www.printables.com/model/200302-ozito-battery-to-ryo…

Which can be used to convert an Ozito Battery to be used with Ryobi

    • I have heard about the circuit that helps prevent the batteries from being overdrawn. Some brands have it built in the tools, some others have it in the batteries.
      How's Ryobi and Ozito' cases?

      • Ryobi's protection is in the batteries.

  • No deal on Ryobi 36V batteries?

    • There is a 2 pack, i have seen. $299?

Ryobi is an absolute rip off these days.

  • Tempted to grab one just to have access to the massive Ryobi ONE toolset.

Having said that, the two Ryobi tools I've bought in the past have both been returned. Not a huge fan of the quality.

    • Sure they were not red?
We own @50 tools, and have only returned 2.
We have owned 3 ozito and returned 2.

      • Lol, nah. I've returned my fair share of Ozito tools in the past though.

I don't bother with either these days - the majority of my tools are Dewalt (with the exception of my track saw which is Milwaukee).

Cost a freakin arm and a leg but the quality is so much better.

Good price, but who else has too many Ryobi chargers? :D
