Mundial – Bonza Knife Block 9 Piece Set $259 Delivered @ Victoria's Basement

41

Great price on a quality set of Mundial knives. If you're in the market for a whole set of knives these are a "steel". This set includes a honing steel that you'll use frequently with the sightly softer (and easier to hone) X45CrMoV14.

Alternatively, you could go for the 7 piece set without the fork and honing steel for $30 less if you already have a honing solution. https://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/p/mundial-knife-block-7…

  • Arent these your typical Robins Kitchen type over inflated RRP knives that arent worth their sale price.

    • Not quite. While the RRP is most definitely over inflated these are quality forged German steel knives made in Brazil. They're good knives and the key to this deal is the need for the majority of the set, if you buy them individually it'll cost significantly more, or much deal hunting to try.

Cant beat wusthuf for german knives. Instead of spending this money for an inferior range of different knives youll barely use, simply get a good 20cm chef knife, paring knife and honing steel. I use my 20cm knife 90% of the time despite having a few different sizes

They look the exact same as this set from Baccarat

You're definitely right. Got the same set sitting on my kitchen bench, paid about $100 a while back.

      • From where?

      • +2

These are quite different to the Baccarat - if you bought them for $100, you probably paid too much.

        • Yup definitely
          Bro sounds bitter lol

Heh. Our set is 26 years old. Still works fine.
I bought a Wusthof classic set from a few years back at a closing down sale for a local knife shop.
Still using both on a daily basis.
I think they are very decent for the money, not sure the typical home cook needs much more than this.

Similar experience with my Mundial set, which is over 20 years old..Good quality and used daily… Was so impressed I bought mum a set…She's a mad cook and apart from needing a good sharpening, hers are still fine too. Got them thru a friend in the industry for only $95 each. One of my better buys….

These look like a generic set that gets rebranded, I have one from Baccarat that look suspiciously the same minus different brand name on the blades.

nah mundial is a real brand. Quick google is all it takes.

    Coles ones are free.

    • After you give them your personal information and shopping habit data, they give you trinkets. It’s not free.

        No.

  • I've got these - I think. Mundial anyway, and they look the same. My only beef with them (the smaller knives at least) is that they will quite often 'roll' onto the back with the sharp blade sticking up. This is when you put the knife down. Makes them a bit unsafe in my opinion. Should be better balanced so they don't do that. I wouldn't get them again, but they are sharp and decent quality otherwise.

  • No experience with Mundial knives, but their kitchen shears are great.
