  • Oh yes please.

    Visor spray? 😁

    • Check reviews … some a little less that complementary.

      • Now sort by most recent.. 😅

Only 1 negative vote out of 12 in the last 4 years. I wonder if they've been changing the formula and finally ended on a decent product.

    Thanks OP - purchased 1.

i prefer the Glass one, still 9 bucks very good price

  • What u do with this? Like a spray on wax?

    • +1

i use it on the shower screen and pool fence

      • How long does it last?

        • +4

i reapply probably 6 months, just makes it heaps easier to clean

          • +3

@Archi: you'd be using the 'standard' rainx though right? this one is the plastic one…

            • @peter05: yes, but this will still work,.

              • +4

@Archi: So is this like Panadol marketing paracetamol to target back or period pain etc?, but is actually the same formulation?

                • +4

@haz: the glass one has more chemicals in it than the plastic. i would use this on glass but i wouldn't do it the other way round.

                • +3

                  @haz: Technically, that works though
If you change the colour, taste, or size of something without making any change to its ability to work, it has a sort of placebo effect on people which in fact makes it work

Also it was Nurofen who did that and got massively fined for it

                  • +2

@linkindan: Nurofen targets ya pain dude. It's for the red target. Ask the ACCC. They will tell ya. :)

                • +6

@haz: You can look at the safety data sheets and see:
                  https://www.rainx.com.au/safety-data-sheets/

                  The plastic formulation is:
                  - Propylene glycol (7-13%)
                  - Water

                  The glass formulation consists of:
                  - Ethanol (30-60%)
                  - Acetone (10-30%)
                  - Isopropanol (10-30%)
                  - Sulfuric acid (0.1-1%)

Note that the percentages are given as ranges, as is standard practice. Manufacturers don't like giving out the exact formulation of their products.

I'd be careful using it around water that can get into your body. These chemicals can irritate eyes and questionable about its toxicity to humans too

        • Just curious, do you not use chemicals to clean your shower ? I guess this stuff is no different to using those chemicals?

          • +5

            @Sunnyoz:

I guess this stuff is no different

Better to stick to facts than guessing…

          • +8

@Sunnyoz: Shower cleaning products are specifically designed for use in the bathroom, Rain-X is a car detailing product.

          • +2

@Sunnyoz: I was referring more to the pool glass fence. Could seep into the pool water when it rains and into where the kids swim

            • @Sweetnsour: Ah ok, got it thanks for the clarification mate . Cheers

          • @Sunnyoz: used a pressure washer once, worked great actually

        • +1

Curious which chemicals it contain which could be potentially toxic to humans?

          • @ATTS: i wonder if its PFAS?

            • @fatbelly: Oh pfas? Like the fire retartdent the army used that polluted the water?

          • @ATTS: If it's super potent it won't come in a spray bottle. When the wind blows it's all over your face. There will be poison warnings all over the bottle just like bleach.

        • Yeah man. Defo don't drink it.

        • According to the safety data sheets, it's basically just propylene glycol and water:
          https://www.rainx.com/heres-how/safety-data-sheets/
          https://www.rainx.com.au/safety-data-sheets/

Propylene glycol is considered a minor eye irritant, and since it's not food-grade, I wouldn't eat it. But otherwise, I can't see any reason to be worried.

I have tried this 2 times. First time I cleaned my showers then applied RainX and measured how long it would last. About 1 week. After 1 week, all the RainX was gone. I have done this two times to confirm that it wasn't due to improper application. I used 2 coats. During the 1 week window, the window was always clean because soap scum simply slid off.

    • Like a spray on wax?

      🧽

    • Damn, most phones are waterproof.

      I sleep with PFAS.

    • I use Mothers CMX Ceramic Spray… always find dead bugs on the bonnet and roof of the car, must be toxic.

  • +3

Thanks, bought three. These will work great on my Tupperware containers

    • +1

      Yum, RainX

  • Anyone actually used this on their motorcycle helmet? I've only heard old wives tales… I feel like it would be mint if it worked

  • Oooh yay more forever chemicals!
