Hisense AX5100G 5.1 Soundbar $336.60 C&C Only @ The Good Guys

230
AUDIOMG

Seems a decent deal for a budget 5.1 setup with earc.

Wireless sub and rears, however the rears do need to be connected to each other.

Interested on feedback if anyone has this model.

The 5.1.2 Atmos Hisense is approx $100 dearer using same code.

Reviews seems to state that once there dialogue the rest of the sound isn't that nice.

Seen reviews of Samsung sound bars?

      • -1

Yes, 1000%, for the average consumer they just want big bass and surround sound, irrelevant of pretty much anything else. Samsung is king of suiting to the mass audience that just want a good upgrade over their TV's and have no real opinions on sound profiles/abilities and just want a great soundbar. Do they compare to Sennheiser? No. It's like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari.
At this price point to even the $1.5k point, they are all tiny bars with tiny speakers and a sub. You can only do so much with it. Sennheiser for instance have larger speakers.

Yeah nah Samsung sound bars are very good.

Do not expect much from TV, camera, calculator, watch and mobile phone makers' soundbars/sound systems.
There are the specialists such as Yamaha or Sennheiser, Polk and Klipsch.

As someone who's dabbled just enough in building and measuring sound gear, this statement comes across as all sorts of pig-ignorant.

Sound bars, especially at this price level, are a bunch of tiny little cheap drivers, a half arsed little 'subwoofer' and a bit of off the shelf dsp. Doesn't matter what brand is slapped on the front of the box.

Look in the mirror to see a pig ignorant.

Look in the mirror to see a pig ignorant.

That's the best you can come up with? You argue like an eight year old.

No surprise there when your initial assertion was so childish.

BTW, let me correct your use of English. You should have written "ignorant pig." I'm using "pig-ignorant" as an adjective, you are trying to use it as a noun.

I remember reading theres no side speakers on the main bar , so soundstage isn’t that wide.

Also google reviews seem to indicate that sound is powerful and cinematic for the price, but depending on your other equipment it can be prone to bugs and random annoyances that never get addressed.

This matches up with my experience of previously owning a hisense bar.
Definitely good value , but return it ASAP if there’s problems.

I picked one up from Harvey norman this afternoon, I'm going to return it tomorrow if possible. While it's better than no sound bar, my $200 2.1 SB from years ago is superior.

    • What brand and model, if you don't mind?

      • +1

My current SB is a Samsung HW-T550

  • What should I be looking for when buying a sound bar? All I know is that I need to buy one

Listen to music in "stereo". Atmos etc. all are jokes in soundbars. If you need that Atmos one set up a "real home theater system". TV, camera, calculator, SSD, phone makers also make soundbars to match their TVs, phones etc. Their TV customers also buy soundbar to set up with the same brand TVs and think they are good soundbars!
Thanks Cosmos, apple does not make a soundbar!

Warning to anyone attempting to compare this to the Hisense AX5125H, which is accessible overseas. Hisense does make modified versions for the Australian market. The AX5125H supports HDMI 2.1 passthrough 4k/120hz on the Xbox but not the PC/PS5. Usual patterns with us receiving reduced models, particularly with HDMI standards. Do not expect those luxuries from this model.
