Hey anyone know what kind of adapter I can purchase to replace the below?

I can't find an exact match online… worried about frying stuff.

This will work, if your current adapter has the same standard plug size 5.5x2.5mm.

Is that a genuine SHNITPWR ?

Of course! did you think I would post an imitation?

          I would post an imitation?

I bought a knock off SHITPWR a while back.

          It was crap

if your current adapter has the same standard plug size 5.5x2.5mm.

      It appears to be…

Output Connection Type2.5 x 5.5 mm Barrel Plug

So normally better to go over output?

The voltage should be exactly what you require. No more. No less.

The wattage/amperage should be at least what you require. No less.

The connector needs to be exactly what you require, and be the same polarity. These can however be changed if you have the required knowledge.

You are overstating that. More correct is:

"To be safe, in the absence of other data, get very close to the old voltage, and at least the same current spec."

And in this case, the adapter is 24V, which is common, so easy to replace.
But often, that advice causes unnecessary difficulties, as modern devices typically have their own switch-mode voltage conversion, and are flexible.
          e.g. A laptop with a 19V charger will happily charge from a 20V adapter, or a 15V, maybe even 12V.

Secondly, especially if buying a cheap no-name power supply from China, get one rated significantly higher current than that actually drawn. It will last longer.

            @bargaino:

            You are overstating that.

You and I know that some devices can operate quite satisfactorily with a bit more or a bit less voltage than the power supply they were delivered with. But some can't. I have two right in front of me that pass the voltage supplied - in one case 5V and the other 12V - directly through to other devices which expect a tightly regulated input voltage. The OP doesn't know whether that is or isn't the case in this case. And neither do you or I. So the safe choice is to advise him replace a power supply with another of the exact same voltage. Because if we're wrong he risks blowing up something. That's why I'm overstating it. Quite deliberately.

        • Is a particular "normal" polarity that is common? Or are both polarities equally common?

So normally better to go over output?

        Voltage must be the same.

Current stated on the device is the minimum you must get… so 3A is better than 2.9A

Lots of good videos on youtube using the 'water' analogy if you are interested to understand it better…

This thread is a classic example of why jv is a 'top' poster, just spams the threads with useless crap replies.

      useless crap replies.

Like the link to the product they are after? Or the link that shows that the two products suggested use the same plug as the original ?

More like your comment is the "useless crap"

Here's the brochure for your adapter, output 80W: https://media.distrelec.com/Web/Downloads/_t/ds/exm80_eng_td…
You need a 2.5/5.5/9.2mm centre positive plug; this option ($51.76 shipped) comes with 2.5/5.5/10mm

  • Try Jaycar, but their offerings seem to max out at 2.5A.

  • Take the SM PS into Jaycar and ask them for a replacement of they have one. Job done if they have one.

Also try search for the adapter on Ali express. I found the oem for my nas power adapter when Jaycar couldn't help.
