what would you need for these to connect to? Any batteries?

    • MPPT charge controller and battery
Likely plug into a lot of power banks with built in MPPT

This panel is well suited to the Victron 75/15 and it's the setup I have permanently on my ute.

The brand is so korrny tho

Agreed - absolute cringeworthy name. Right up there with Bushwakka's 'fakawi'.

  • Been watching these, not because they are great but perfect size i need for my setup.
Had a great sunpower house panel but roof top tent took that spot, tried flexible panels but they didnt last long.

Or the 160w Ridge Ryder on clearance for $119 (down from $160) including an MPPT

    • Note that the Ridge Ryder doesn’t say it supports Li-ion batteries, you may need a different battery or mppt charger for your system.

Those eBay ones all seem to be defying the laws of Physics with their claimed outputs.

    • +2

You should be aware that many of the solar panels on ebay have wildly inflated specs. Including at least some of the ones you linked to. You often get a decent price for what their output actually is, but almost invariably that output is far less than you think you are buying.

If the claimed output exceeds about 220W per square metre of panel area you know they're lying. Its an easy rough calculation to do to see if the output is likely to be anything like what is claimed.

The ones at SuperCheap appear to be honest in that regard, as is the case usually with companies with known names. bricks and mortar stores and reputations that they value and protect.

There's also the Adventure Kings 200W fixed panel for $129 today (and maybe every other 3rd Wednesday from 10AM to 3:12PM for the next 41 days)

Have run the older 160W folding and 2 x 250W folding Kings panels and they all live up to the spec, pulled 240W from my 250W panel a few weeks ago and it's 5 years old, can't complain outside of the pretty cheap frame.

Supercheap has 10 year warranty vs 2 year on the Adventure Kings, for whatever thats worth.

      • Didn't notice that, based on where most of these will end up, I'd probably take the extra warranty at the cost of a little production if I was taking it camping/4wding

    • Judging by the size vs wattage the Kings one seems about the same watt/sqm. I guess I better climb up on the van roof and take some measurements to see which one (or hopefully two) fits better.

    • +2 - our Adventure Kings 160W folding panel got to just over 160 watts on the Victron 75|15 MPPT.

With the eBay nasties, our Sunyee (circa 2016) 160W folding panels were also true to spec.

  • Get to enter the comp for a camper trailer too. ? $5 credit also?

  • The ultra slim flexible panels are a great option as they can be stored under a mattress and slept on when not in use. I havent used my big "kit" style panels in years.

  • I called my local store and they didn't have enough, they did a rain check order for this price. I don't get the benefit of getting it immediately or any online savings, but I do get it at this price.
Apparently this price ends on 27/10.

    • How many were you buying? It allowed me to order 3 at my local, but I haven't heard back on them being ready to collect yet.

      • I ordered 3

        • Just picked mine up from Lilydale.

How would people recommend securing these to a caravan roof. A few videos I have watched use a lot of Sikaflex but that seems too permanent a solution for something that may need to be replaced at some point due to damage or them going faulty.
