  • I keep getting error “This event is not available at the moment”.

  • just the pink for this price I assume?

    • Now both black and peach are available for $20

  • Cheapest brand new VoLTE compatible

Doesn't mean it definitely will work after 3G is shutdown.

    • -1

From Specs it is 4G phone, so 3G shutdown definitely won’t have any impact

From Specs it is 4G phone

There are some 4G phones, with VOLTE that will not be able to make emergency calls after the shutdown.
Lots of discussion about it on Whirlpool.

Optus already started blocking them from their network a week or two ago.

        • +2

Yep, JV is providing an important warning here.. anyone planning to buy this better look this detail up

        • This is true, but selling a product in Australia according to ACCC rules must be fit for consumption, and in this case you can not sell this phone with the 3G network shutdown if the phone is not compatible going forward with 4G for emergencies otherwise your are entitled to refund.

          • @cobknob: Both Telstra and Optus are still selling phone themselves that will not work fully after 3G is shutdown.

Sure, you can get a refund, but I'm more concerned if there is an emergency and someone is unable to make a call…

How do you even test it next week? It is against the law to call 000 just to make a 'test' call…

            • @jv: Any phone using 3G for emergencies will be blocked from working in general on the network.

            • +1

@jv: I've even suggested a fake 00X test number to the telecommunications ombuds. Naught comment on that idea.

How hard could it be to design an app to test whether the emergency number is using 3G - I think its absolutely piss!

              Which phones are they?

      • so 3G shutdown definitely won’t have any impact

Some 4G phones still use 3G for emergency calls.
For this reason, there are still several countries, especially around Europe that will keep their 2G network for another year or two.

swear the price just jumped $5

    • It actually just did lol

    • +1

Yeah. But I just bought seconds before that and only paid $15 🥹

      • cant think of a use case for this

        • +1

I have an overseas SIM for OTPs of bank accounts in another country, so will serve me well for that SIM :)

          • @OZBsince2018: I used to do similar, used an app called macrodroid to then automatically email me a copy of the incoming messages so I would get it on my main phone. Cheap phone and SIM just sat hidden away plugged into a charger and connected to wifi for months on end without being touched

  • I was here when it didn't expire but I didn't know where to put the code

    • Add to cart, then click on cart on the bottom of the screen, then on that page you will find the space to add your code.

      • It's expired :(

        • Nah, the deal still hasn’t expired but is now $20 for either the black of peach after adding the coupon code.

  • +2

    Thanks - got a black.

    • once you go black you never go back

      • Why not?

        • It absorbs all light.

          • @jv: I thought black was an abscence of light?

            • @DarwinBoy: yes, there is no reflection.

  • Ordered, then realised this doesn't have a camera, cancelled.

    • The same. How did you cancel it? Did you send a message to the seller on Catch.com, as there is no cancel button?

      • Yes, sent a message has a 'cancel the order' option.

        • Did the same

          • @rrrrrrein: Catch Bot reply.
