12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery $190 ($180 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Outbax eBay

460

12V 100Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery LiFePO4 Rechargeable Camping RV
These have pouch cells and are usually sold as 'Gentrax' brand. They arrive with Gentrax branding on the batteries and a Gentrax user manual. Comes with bolts for terminals in a secure package brand new with wrapping tape. I believe they're the exact same internally as the Adventure Kings 100Ah but have yet to see someone tear down those for comparison.

Here is a teardown of the Gentrax shown here. https://imgur.com/a/gentrax-100ah-06-2024-8lnWTqM

Ebay plus makes it a great price.

Price shows as $315.21. Add it to cart and immediately $125 is taken off bringing it down to $190.21. I used eBay Plus code PLUSB3HKD8BKVK7M to save an extra $9.51, bringing it down to $180.70.

I believe this is an all time low price.

UPDATE: This link no longer works. You can get it for $196.44 from here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304315952043 and applying code OCTF20OFF and PLUSB3HKD8BKVK7M

I've got 3 wired in parallel. So far pulled 150ah from them no problems and had no issues charging them at 60A. Going to see how many Ah I can get at 100% DOD.

      • +1

Thanks OP. Good stuff, going to do the same with this forth one I just got from your included details for the bottom link with

two codes stacked (one auto and second PLS250) for $175.20 delivered.

  • Just want to confirm but can't use this as the primary battery for cars right?

    • +6

No. Not suitable for the engine bay heat nor the cranking amps.

  • Getting $63 off. Down to $252.

  • $252 :-(

      • Sometimes you can get free postage vouchers with eBay Plus, but unsure if that's the case here. $175.20 is nuts.

    • +1

That's exactly the price and break down I got too.

  • This compared to voltx, any worse?

    • +3

Very similar. Voltx uses prismatic (pouches inside hard shells) whereas this uses pouch shells (pouches taped to a soft shell then wedged into a case with foam)

Prismatics supposedly last a little bit longer due to them resisting bulge a bit better having the hard shells, but its the same chemistry. These seem wedged in enough.

      • Thanks mate

  • +1

Is there any use case for this around the house, or it’s mostly for camping or boats only?

    • +1

In case of power outages you can pair a few together with an inverter for mains power backup

      • +2

Thanks, I’ll look into it. Seems like a cheaper alternative for emergency cases than a proper battery rack like Tesla.

        • You will need an inverter and a lithium ion charger fyi, potentially look at a Bluetti for the all in one factor

        • i would question the value of that because unless you spend the extra maintaining the batteries and charge

the infrequency of your needs a generator that you only pay as you go (petrol) and better option as 'backup'

Batteries are more for an ongoing purpose to integrate with needs, the cost of the inverter the controllers monitors and Charging (solar etc)

    • in the household shed on solar panel and 12v bar fridge / fan / lights

  • Cant seem to find if they are suirable for parallel use.

    • +1

      I run them parallel fine

      • Cheers

        • So do I, up to 3 and soon 4 haha.

  • Could I use this to power a pressure washer ?

    • +1

      With an inverter sure

    • Unlikely - most pressure washers are 1,800+ watts, so around 7amps @240V. This would be 140 amps @12V.

The maximum continuous discharge for this battery is 100A.

      • -1

        1 + 1 = 2 @ 200Ah

        • +1

          Yeah 200ah @ 12v or 24v @ 100

Thanks, ended up being $185 delivery Perth. Got 2 of these already and a voltx. Now to hook it up to the shed flr my printers cnc machines. Perhaps use two as 24v ones. Need another inverter if so.

    • You want 4 in serie with a 48v inverter + MPPT.

      • Started to go down this rabbit whole a few months ago. Already on the 12/24v gear. Victron. With this got 4 batteries. Just want the ability to grab one or two when going camping. Just want it to keep my printer and cnc machine running. Reckon 3d printer use around 250w with heatbed. So in theory 200w continuous. Won't run both same time as probably don't make it until solar kicks in. Gonna put reader on plug next few days to see how much it uses. Don't want to run batteries too low. Thinking lowest 25%.

        • Same here. I’ve pulled 20 x 250W panels off the roof, so I figured I might as well run some loads off-grid. However, 12V and even 24V systems are quite inefficient. A 12V inverter consumes four times more power at no load compared to a 48V inverter. I’m using it to power my beer fridges 24/7, as well as my NAS, routers, and 3D printers.

          • @raybies: Similar situation. Got 2x250w panels and 2x100w solar blankets (more for camping and won't be up. Also the mppt is rated for 440w so won't put more on. Even though it caps out if they were to be connected) got a 12v 60l fridge, lights and nest speaker. Gonna take me a week or two to get it how I want it. Only thing is the cnc machine is so messy. Got a cover for it when running but fine dust everywhere. At least better then garage. See how i go with that or getting an exhaust for it. Probably print one and hook up. Prob use lots of power though. Hmmm.

            • @Mikael: Which CNC do you have, I've been after one for a while, but space and use cases limit my choices.

              • @raybies: Got a 3018pro. Very basic. Paid around $200 from Ali. Came with laser as well. But since got an upgraded cnc router(spindle) to build my own. Think work area is 300x180x45. Something like that.
The one im making will be at least twice the area. But probably similar depth. got all parts needed. Just to get some time to do it. Tinkering with too many things haha. Just built my own 3d printer. Printed once and disassembled. Arcade machine. Done and in corner not being used. cnc and lego sorter probably next projects.

These are VERY messy. Don't do inside the house but garage or something like that where easy to sweep. And also if using laser to keep it away.

                • @Mikael: Hate to break it to you, but tinkering is a sickness with no cure… I had to get a house with a dedicated workshop, which quickly started overflowing into the garage, then the office, and now the living room has about four projects in progress. My ESP32s and mmWave sensors are scheduled for the weekend.

                  • @raybies: Haha, know the feeling too. Almost pulled the trigger from another ozbargainpost re the esp. got drawers full of Arduino and rpi. Still finding stepper motors here and there and lead screws lol.

Edit. Forgot to mention. Just finished building a 3x3m shed. At least something and emptied the garage from my shit and became a gym. (For now haha)

  • +1

If you buy 2 or more postage is still only $30.

    • +1

That's an awesome point. $181.44 each if you buy two, $176.44 for 3, $174 each for 4

  • +1

Ended up buying 3 for my shitbox rally next year!

  • +5

Excellent, just got one for $185.20 delivered using this link https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304315952043 as ebay added a couple of other vouchers i had at checkout.

    • +1

I got the same price, but it took some coupon shuffling.
I got two of these last year and they were over stated capacity and have held up well.

  • I got it down to $242.17 including postage……. This is so confusing.

    • It just means the store has upped the price 😉

    • +1

Don't use the main link in the deal, try using the Updated link at the bottom of the deal.

      • Saw that and got it nicely priced. Just hesitant on hitting the "pay now" button.

  • +1

As long as it's not a DCS battery 😅

    • +2

Careful they might send their lawyers after you :)

    • +1

      Yep f'em

  • +1

I just bought it at $185 delivered using the second link.

    • Quick question, what charger are people using with these?

      • I use a victron 12v/30. Sure, quite expensive but reckon when hooked up to smart solar charger and shunt from victron just plug and go. Syns up between them. hardly use charger since solar charger. Use it before connecting them together to get same voltage. Apparently it is doable using no lifepo4 charger but I wouldn't recommend it. Got a kickass 20a and didn't dare to use that as not lipo settings.

  • Got a tracking number already.

  • Damn, missed it this time, and an ATL for me with ebay plus too. Can still get it now for $222.17,

but will wait for similar deal like this as don't need one more in a hurry for now.

    • +1

Second link brings it to $195.20. look further down on post

      • +1

Came down here to comment and have a windge , then read the full discription.

Put one in the cart, and with two codes stacked (one included automatically and the PLS250/$30 off $150 spend)

actually came to $175.20, so jumped at that. Now to test out and see how good these really are turning it into

        a x 4 Parallel 400Ah Bank.

        • +1

I also got 4 when this arrive. Should get all the shed stuff going for a while with the 2x250w solar panels. 3d printer might take a bit with heated bed. Also good if power goes here to run all the fridges.
Didn't see the PLS250 code. Oh well. Still good price.

          • +1

@Mikael: Sounds like a solid and fun project/set up. Wire them safe with plenty of fuses and circuit breakers,

don't overcharge/discharge and Happy Days hey.

            • +1

@ozhunter68: Perfect test today. Had smoke alarm testing here and they had to check all power and turn on and off all the time. Plugged all of the office on battery and working fine. Wife got big audit being prepared. Current draw 400w. 2 computers 5 monitors.NAS. NBN, switches and CCTV. good solar now so doesn't draw much. 33w. Def won't make it over night. But will leave until tonight.

              • @Mikael: Yeah, sounds like a good test for your needs. Are you running a "Crypto Mine" there lol?

  • Has anyone used these in an AGM retrofit scenario?

I have a UPS that is very fussy. Won’t work unless the BMS specifically mimics AGM.

    • +1

I read up on this a long while back and TL'DR - it's not really possible. The UPS will expect a specific voltage curve in order to work out the battery %. LIPO batteries have such large a flat spot in their voltage curve that they are fundamentally incompatible.

      • What do you think of ditching the UPS hardware and just running an inverter 24/7 with a charger that is powered when power is cheap?

  • +1

Far out, I paid $700 for my 100ah lithium deep cycle.

    • +1

      Ouch

    • +1

And you would be surprised how many people have paid over $500-$700 for a !00Ah lithium battery, some over $1000 even,

especially before 2022 before Kings got into the game. I travel a lot in my van with dual battery set up running a lowish cost

Atem Power 120Ah from Sunyee (at the time available from ebay too) for around $300 delivered (price was for 100Ah but

got it swapped for 120Ah as tested only 84Ah +- and complained). When I talk to fellow travellers with dual battery set ups,

people are surprised how cheap I got it for and over 2 years running fridge + other stuff no problems at all, except for having

to learn to every 2-3 months re-calibrate my Renogy shunt battery monitor. Even had false reading and had battery go flat twice

overnight, and just charged straight back up next day via either solar and/or dc dc charger. Good to see the BMS actually shut of

and around 10 V too, so did not do much harm I can imagine. Wait till I tell people I got a few Gentrax 100Ah (true tested capacity)

for below $250/$240/$190/$180 now. Can run 4 x 100Ah for cheaper than some 100Ah batteries and should easily handle a

3000W inverter with over 300Ah current draw wired up together in parallel hopefully safely without getting too hot if wired correctly.

      • +1

I have them wired correctly and have pulled over 240a from 3 in parallel. 3300w inverter.

        • Good to hear. For how long did you run that for, and how warm did the batteries get?

I only have a 2000W inverter, so not pushing them as much as you, yet. My fourth battery

is on the way and in future very likely a bigger inverter I think if these batteries keep testing at or

even well above standard. In future I might rent a bungalow/shed without 240 V street power/

off the power grid, so want reliability and extra headroom to run some power tools as well as

my induction Tokit cooker and Air Fryer, although looking at getting a 12 V 4 lt variable power

          one later this year.

  • Whats are people's go to battery boxes for these? Use case is camping.

    • Most people including myself don't use boxes and make our own circuits

    • For camping purposes: I put my battery and inverter and cables into a Ryobi tool bag. Just fits snug enough and has a good carry handle. Can withstand fair amount of rain. Did wire solar input and output for fridge and USB charger to different type plugs so wife and kids can’t mix and mess up anything. Works for me.

  • Anyone see any good deals on a 48v version?

I got a Renogy version but had to return it because the output was on 50amps, whereas this is 100amps.

    • This has current draw of up to 100Ah but remember this is 12 V only.

  • +2

I got the 200Ah from the updated link seller (Fab-living) down from $609 to $427.52 with free delivery through automatically applied discount code OCT20OFF and manually applying MYCARG6ZR5R4K7M at checkout.

  • That teardown shows this JBD BMS which is pretty good, $50 on its own. But I can't get past the pouch cells, they give me the heebie-jeebies
    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005004840299530.html?gateway…

    • +1

I have read that some well mase pouch cell LiPo4 batteries can even outperform Prismatic cell batteries.

As long as you don't overheat over 40 c -45 c especially charging, should be pretty safe to use within spec.

      • +1

Yes I'm sure you're right. It's all the same inside

  • +1

Whts everyone using for a charger? Is the Victron Blue Smart IP65 Battery Charger 12V 10A SLA/LiFePO4 - BLUETOOTH recommended during the Voltx Deal still the best?

Scored two of these via Fab Living for $175 each.

    • +1

I bought a Redarc one from Autobarn as I thought I needed one quickly as well as a cheap Gooloo from Amazon

and they both work flawlessly as far as I can tell whilst using it. I don't think one has get a expensive brand name

in order to occasionally charge up a lithium battery, especially a cheap battery when on a budget.

In saying that, as I'm kind of like a power user, my next 240V charger will be a Victron now I have learnt how good

and customisable their gear is. That ebay deal with $10 coupon sound good for a 10Amp version from Victron.

      • +1

Thanks. I found Supecheap now sell Victron and use that with 15% off via Linkt discount, I think that it would be a good buy. $127.49 pick up. Supercheap is even cheaper than eBay (before any other discounts).

By the sounds of it you recommend Victron, I am due for a new charger so I might pickup this one.
