MILWAUKEE 18V FUEL Brushless 2-Piece 2x 5.0Ah Combo Kit Power Pack with Bonus Multi Tool ($369) $789 Shipped / C&C @ Total Tools

I was after the oscillating multi tool for the least amount of vibration. The total cost is around $500 from market place, and probably around $600 from the shop, since I don't have the batteries and charger. Found this and it's a really good deal, can sell the two skins for around $500 if I don't end up keeping them. Cbf to test the tradie category gift cards, just put it on zip pay.

Link to the multi tool. It doesn't have a case. The case is only for the drill and driver.

YT review on the multi tool.

  • should wait for spend x get x amount in store credit promo, they are pretty regular, would be looking at $100 or $200 credit if you spend $1000

    • I kinda need the tool now, but thanks for the tip :)

      • Taree Sydney tools grand opening tomorrow Thursday 20/3/25 in store one day only $1000 with $200 store credit back

  • Can you attach cleaning brushes to these?

    • They have standard chucks I imagine, the cheap bunnings brushes should work?

  • Milwaukee know how to charge for these things. $800 for two drills? How much better are these than the regular similar $450 Dewalt sets?

    • They are pretty powerful as far as I have researched. Gen 3 apparently has an edge over gen 2 as well. Dewalt is quite lacking in terms of battery life and ergonomics in comparison. I personally only use mechanical keyboards, but plenty of people are happy with $10 ones that comes with a mouse.

      Do your own research.

    • There is no question that they are over charging BIG TIME for these things. Milwaukee probably more then others but i think they all do. There is nothing to these things nowadays with brushless motors and much better speed controllers/electronics that are made much better and cheaper thanks to RC explosion. Doesn't stop them it seems.

      • Yeah, I think Mulwaukee are the flavour of the month. I'm no tradie but it's probably happening with young tradies tooling up based on peer opinions.

The OP told me to do my own research, so here goes.

In both sets you get 1 x drill + 1 x impact driver + 2 x 5AH batteries (inside, these will use comparable cells). The below is the main differences.

        Comp 1: MILWAUKEE 18V FUEL™ Brushless 2 Piece 2 x 5.0AH Combo Kit Power Pack M18FPP2AA3B502C
        Price: $789
        Drill: M18FPD30, 158 Nm
        Driver: M18FID30, 1/4-inch, 226 Nm max torque

        Comp 2: DEWALT 18V XR 2 Piece 2 x 5.0Ah Combo Kit DCZ294P2-XE
        Price: $498
        Drill: DCD805N-XJ, 90 Nm
Driver: DCF921N-XJ, 1/2-inch, 406 Nm max, 610 Nm breakaway torque, comes with 1/4-inch adapter

So if you are after a more powerful drill, get the Milwaukee, if you want a more powerful impact driver, get the Dewalt. The Milwaukee drill may be larger and more heavy to hold, vice-versa for the impact driver. But these bundles are always on sale, and there are various configs of drills. I am on the TT email list (and Trade Tools), and both of them email me with bundle deals every week or two, they seem to be the potato cakes of the tool world.

The Milwaukee comes with the multi-tool. If you really want that, then it's probably close to being comparable with the value of the Dewalt.

        • The DCF921 is an impact wrench and is great for automotive applications. The bundle however comes with a 1/4" hex adapter which can turn it into an impact driver, albeit a beast of an impact driver. However, that adapter can pull out of the 1/2" square drive if you are trying to pull a drill bit out of a hole in timber. This could become annoying if you use it as an impact driver the whole day. However, there are only limited cases where this happens.

        • You forgot to include the warranty period. How much is two extra years of it worth to you? It’s a lot for me, as I tend to draw the shorter straw in electronic devices for some reason.

          • @Alley Cat: Ah yes, I was going to note that Dewalt came with 3yr vs Milwaukee 5yr warranty but missed it. Thanks.
