M100R500

Had a few customers reach out to us over the weekend and ask us to price match a PC they'd configured based off a deal posted here on Friday from the competition (The on the in MSI M100R mATX chassis with the $225 gift card!).

We couldn't do a direct comparative offer as we don't carry the lower end version of the motherboard, we're temporarily out of stock of the 7500F (from our last offer you guys cleared us out of!) and we also don't carry the 650W bronze power supply they use. However as it turned out, we already had a similar'ish (slightly higher spec'd) offering in that same case with the same GPU / Case combo and while the other specs are were higher, we managed to get a pretty hefty discount applied to pitch it as a competing offer. After doing all the leg work and with our previous deals sold out / expired, we thought we'd open it up to everyone here on OZB in case they thought it was a worthwhile deal also.

It's not an applies to apples comparison so here are the differences to take in to account we'll list below.

CPU
Zen 5 9600X vs Zen 4 7500F. With latest Windows updates & 105w BIOS we're seeing only 4-7% performance advantage to the 9600X in CPU bound gaming benchmarks but the 0.1% lows are as much as 20% better on the new Zen5 platform. In other multi-threaded CPU heavy tasks like rendering and encoding there is also 15-20% gains with the newer 9600X.
Retail DIY price ~ +$150 (not offered by competitor but they offer +$169 to upgrade to the slower 7600X)

RAM
Very similar, just ours has slightly lower latency CL30 vs CL32. Both SK Hynix A-Die.
- 32GB (2x16G) 6000MHz CL30 with RGB (KLEVV CRAS V)
- 32GB (2x16G) 6000MHz CL32 no RGB (Acer Predator Pallas II)
Retail DIY price ~ +$40 (lowest price RGB upgrade is +$45, or lowest price C30 upgrade from the competitor is +$100)

Motherboard
MSI B650M Gaming PLUS Wi-Fi vs Non PLUS model
- 10+2+1 VRM vs 6+2+2
- Dual 8pin EPS Connectors vs Single
- More vs Fewer Heatsinks
- 4 DDR5 DIMM Slots vs 2
- 8x Rear USB Ports vs 5
- 10Gbps vs 5Gbps USB3
- Mid-board 10Gbps Type-C vs No mid-board Type-C (not important when paired with the Forge M100R chassis but if you upgrade options with Type-C front panel connectors, will be the difference between these ports being connected and functional, or not)
Retail DIY price ~ +$30 (offered by competitor for a +$100 upgrade)

Power Supply
- 750W 80+ Gold / Cybernetics Gold rated, 7 year warranty, ATX3.0 PCI-E Gen5 PSU with native 12VHPWR
vs
- 650W 80+ Bronze (no Cybernetics rating), 5 year warranty, not ATX3.0 compliant, and no Gen5 / native 12VHPWR connector
Retail DIY price ~ +$60 (offered by competitor for a +$80 upgrade)

Storage
- 1TB @ 5000MB/s + 500GB @ 3600MB/s (1.5TB total)
vs
- 1TB @ 3600MB/s (5000MB/s upgrade offered for +$30)
Retail DIY price ~ +$50 for extra 500G NVMe drive.

Price
Ours - $2385 (+ Fedex Delivery from $29 | varies by postcode | with Parcel Insurance Included or $0 C&C in MEL)
Theirs - $2088 (+$50 Delivery + $30.29 Parcel Insurance or $0 C&C in SYD)
Price Difference $297 for a DIY / retail value of component upgrades worth approx $330, or if spec'd to closest matching with competitors upgrade options, ~$479 (with 1TB of storage) or $578 (with 2TB total storage). 1.5TB isn't an option, but you could split the difference at $528.5 if you wanted to assign a value per GB for competitive value purposes.

Local Click & Collect Bonus Offer
To sweeten the deal a little further for local pick up customers, if you mention this offer in store on pick up we'll give you a free EPOS gaming headset (worth $149 - link here).
Click & Collect customers who purchase this deal and use the coupon code above only

Of course we realize to a lot of folks who just want a plug-n-play gaming PC right now, saving $250-$300 (depending on shipping costs) up front is compelling for a relatively minor performance difference, to which would say, the competitors deal in the base configuration without upgrades might be your best bet! On the other hand if you were considering that deal with a few upgrades and had the extra $300 in the budget, I think we could out well ahead :) Especially for those who might want to consider future CPU or GPU upgrades, and for those of you in Melbourne who can take advantage of local pick up and support, and the bonus offer!

Questions regarding Windows licenses & installation
- Yes, our licenses are 100% genuine OEM or retail licenses purchased directly from Microsoft authorized distributors. Physical copies of these products are provided with the PC including the license key cards and installation flash drive (for retail licenses) or COA stickers (for OEM licenses). Any system builder that doesn't provide these could be charging you full price for a grey market key of significantly less value and questionable origin. Always demand the physical copies!
- Yes, if you purchase Windows from us we will have it pre-installed, setup, updated and with all the required drivers pre-installed ready to go out of the box.
- No we cannot pre-install Windows for anyone who doesn't purchase a genuine license. We'd love to offer this as a service for those who already have a genuine license but selling a PC pre-loaded with Windows without a license purchase is strictly forbidden by Microsoft.
- Yes, if you have a genuine retail (not OEM or volume) license you can provide to us and that we can validate as genuine, we can activate it for you and provide the PC with Windows pre-installed. Contact us after placing your order with your order number and license details to arrange. OEM or volume keys cannot be accepted as they are non transferable to new systems.

very tempting… dunno if I should wait for black friday tho… or next year for new gpus >_< arghhhhh

    • +6

Or the year after for bargains on next year's GPUs!

    • +5

No real room to move any further on price with deals this sharp… So there's not going to be a significantly better deal for black Friday from us at least. I suspect the same is true from the usual suspects on ozbargain in this category.

Black Friday was more a hold over from physical retail when brick and mortar stores tried to get people through the door by highlighting a handful of crazy low priced deals to get you in door in the hopes you buy a bunch of other crap while you're there or settle for something else when the 3 units they had in stock were sold out.

With the take over of online shopping, black friday turned in to a four day weekend with cyber Monday and now its practically an entire month and a half with stores advertising 'early bird' black Friday deals from September…

If there's going to be any sort of deal that beats this one in terms of value, its likely going to be a well below cost limited availability deal from a big box retailer like JB or maybe a big multinational like the Dell online store.

      • +1

its more places like Amazon where you can score some sick deals, even mistakes, during BF XD

    • Wait 10 years and then buy on a special trying to get my hands on a 960.

    • +1

There was a 7800X3D/4070TiS system for this price back in January. I regret not getting it then. The Steam voucher is only available up to 30 November, so I suppose it depends on whether that's much of a sweetener for you.

  • Damn that's tempting, but i want to wait to see how much the 5000 series GPU's go for before upgrading.

  • +1

Let the Steam games begin… :P

  • +1

I reckon this deal looks pretty good bros

  • +10

Upvote for whom I think is the first vendor lately to provide proper value builds rather than skimping on some parts here and there and advertised as "value" builds. I do also believe due to Evatech, all the others are now offering built in wifi and bluetooth mobos without the need for an upgrade or additional wifi cards. Kudos.

    • +2

id argue nebula does this as well :]
some of their builds come with 16gb ram but there's always a different PC with the same specs but with 32gb of ram :)
just bought a PC from them and I'm super excited to get it ;)

  • still waiting for another good 7800x3d + 4070tiS deal to even match what we had a few months ago… guess we're still screwed by 7800x3d hikes/availability

    • The several hundred dollars worth of Steam credit sweetens this pretty well.

    • +1

Could you share the link to that deal please . Thanks

  • Us WA customers always getting shafted with pickup options :(

  • +1

Are there any deals without RGB? I rather have a non RGB computer with any minor savings in thag going to other parts of the computer

    • Sorry, not at this time. The RGB lighting can all be turned off though the RGB control software package. You can also unplug the RGB connectors that run from the fans if you really don't like them. The RAM will still light up though on each boot until Windows loads up and the RGB software settings kick in to turn them off.

      • +3

Could you ever provide an option (even for individual customers) to choose non RGB hardware?

        • The one thing all middle-aged dads wanting a stealth gaming PC for “spreadsheeting” need.

          • +1

@Usernames: No, I'm open about my gaming. But colourful lights have no appeal to me on a PC. Are you still wearing shoes with blinking LEDs? How about rainbow coloured door handles, or a flashy toilet seat?

            • @huuuuugo: Well yes that too. So, two major groups of potential customers put off by every build having flashing lights.

          • +1

@Usernames: Nothing to do with stealth, just no interest in RGB. In fact aesthetic preference for non RGB

  • Are service pickups part of the 3 year warranty? (return to base warranty).

    • +1

Don't think so from what I can see, shame. Would be interested otherwise.

Edit: Not sure, as on the cart on checkout if you scroll down the page under the warranty description it does say "Get covered up to 5 years priority warranty with pick-up and return paid nation wide on all custom PCs.", so a bit unclear.

      • +1

        @evatech

How much are your premium/priority warranty options for these builds? There doesn't seem to be an option on the customisation page.

        • Interested as well. For now assuming this is only a deal for local buyers.

Risk of a problem, even if small, shipping back would get expensive.

Happy to be corrected, as at least the optionals on the build are in the ballpark of pcpartpicker prices.

    • +2

The standard return to base warranty does require customers to arrange and cover the return shipment, and we cover all cost of repair / replacement and return shipping.

That being said, in all reasonable cases in which the end user has engaged with us in a thorough troubleshooting process prior to return and results indicate a relatively high likelihood of their issue being caused by a faulty component, our warranty team will happily book the return shipment for you and provide the shipping labels. In may cases narrow down the root cause to a particular component (RAM / SSD / GPU etc) and offer the end user the option of removing and returning a single component which is far easier and safer to handle than an entire PC. In these instances we often offer reimbursement of any reasonable return shipping costs once a receipt is provided.

Our default ethos towards all warranty cases with an EVATECH built PC is that if the customer didn't cause the fault, they shouldn't be out of pocket for the remedy. Our advertised written policy is more of a fallback for us in situations where the customer is being particularly uncooperative, unreasonable or if we strongly suspect from all the information provided that the issue is likely not the result of faulty hardware.

      • Fair enough. I am fortunate to have the technical skill to do exactly this , built and upgrade many a pc. So ok with this as a policy.

Last one was from a competitor (on ozb) and I appreciate the professionalism that goes into these builds.

  • @evatech

Do your CPU upgrade options qualify for this AMD promotion? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860831

    • +1

Unfortunately the list of participating retailers in Australia is quiet small. You can find them on a AMD website (link below)

      https://www.amd.com/en/where-to-buy/bundles/get-2-games-bund…

To the best of our knowledge any retailer not in this list that is providing these codes is doing so by buying their inventory directly from one of the retailers in the list. Our CPUs are not purchased via competing retailers and as such, we sadly don't receive the codes to pass on.

Do you send out invoice with the "gaming" part not mentioned? You know, for tax purpose

Rest assured, the word 'gaming' will not appear on the invoice.

    Hi @evatech

Would it be possible to put in a 4TB SSD instead of the Team SSD? What would that add to the price?

    eg https://evatech.com.au/product/8181/lexar-4tb-nm790-nvme-m2-…
or something a bit cheaper like an HP FX700

    • +1

Provided your request to our product team and they tell me a 4TB option should be added shortly!

  • +2

Upvoting because great deal but most importantly because of the high effort detailed post outlining specs, hardware, and details of the hardware used.

    • ❤️

  • Upvoting for Evatech service and quality. No skimping out on quality components and very helpful with advice for upgrades and swift communication

  • +1

So tempting. If it was a 4070S and 7800X3D I'd have bitten. Will keep an eye out for any other deals you post while the MSI deal is available!

    • +1

7800X3D is available as an upgrade for the CPU, and 4070 Super is available as a downgrade for the GPU - no need to wait if that's all you wanted!

      • Oh, I'm a goose - I thought the options were upgrade only; didn't appreciate there would be a downgrade option. Thanks!

  • It's around $2800 when I visit the deal link?

    • Use the coupon code above for $500 off!

  • Can you give the bonus EPOS H3 Headset for order delivery as well?

    • We'd love to but that offer is in store pick up customers only.

Our standard Fedex delivery service is heavily subsidized with only a fraction of the actual cost of delivery being passed on to the customer as a delivery fee charge. Adding a headset to a shipment is rather large increase to the overall volume of the shipment which would further increase the cost.

Pick up customers don't incur the additional costs which also cover packaging materials, additional labor costs for the actual packing and dispatch itself, or the rather expensive parcel insurance to cover a large heavy expensive fragile desktop computer in transit.

It's from these considerable cost savings that we're able to offer a bonus intensive to pick up customers only.

      Sorry!

  • Noticed that there is a now a 1TB 7000Mb lexar added which is a great option, any chance of a 2TB one as well with a similar performance profile?

My reference point is a P41 SK Hynix 2tb on an aging PC I'd be moving from

    • +1

Just received some 2TB PNY 7400MB/s drives that getting added to the option list shortly! Slightly better pricing than the Lexar 2TB's we're sold out of at the moment anyway.

  • Any black friday deals expected shortly that are similar in spec?

Dont want to place an order and find out a day later i should of held out a bit.!

    • +1

We do the best with every deal we post and there's no EXTRA discount for Black Friday that'll make that particular deal any better than our others. We might not even have a Black Friday specific deal, or if we do, it's just the deal we would have posted around that time period anyway that gets slapped with that title.

Oh and the Aussie dollar has been falling as of late and that typically means prices start to creep up, not go down… so if anything this deal might be ever so slightly better than the next…

  • +1

    Hi @evatech,

Do you have any plans for 7500F + 7800XT or 7900GRE deals before the end of the year? I've looked at your competitors offerings and whilst they are a little cheaper I appreciate the thought you put into higher quality components. Also, I'm located in VIC and would prefer to buy local.

    Thanks.

    • I'm in a similar boat, messaged them at the start of this week about a 4080S build but haven't heard back. Would prefer to buy local given I can pick it up too.

      • Apologies, just replied to that message now. Slipped through the cracks in the deluge of others and somehow was marked as 'read' without being replied too! For anyone reading this who doesn't get a reply in the PM's here on Ozbargain within a couple of business hours, shoot us email or message via the contact form on our website and we'll get back to you ASAP!

    • +1

As you might have seen in the past, we tried a few 7800XT and 7900GRE deals ourselves. Multiple different models from PowerColor, Sapphire, Gigabyte and Asus all in the mix at one point or another.

We found the amount of coil while every single model from every single brand had was just unacceptable to certain % of customers which we can sympathize with. We also found the DOA / RMA rate of these cards regardless of the model and brand, to average about 3x that of their NVIDIA counterparts.

Even when they are not faulty, the amount of customer support tickets we get from customers complaining about crashing or issues in certain games that turn out to be driver / game engine bug related is SUBSTANTIALLY more than with NVIDIA cards.

We had to facilitate a swap out of a significant % of the GPUs we sold in those deals with NVIDIA alternatives to satisfy customers dealing with all sorts of crashes and bugs, or just couldn't tolerate the coil while. Our customer service team really didn't love that, and so unless there is an EXTREMELY good deal on those cards or AMD get their act together and address the majority of these issues, we'll probably not be one offering them.

      • Thank you very much for your thorough response, I appreciate your transparency.
I'm building a Linux HTPC so AMD is preferable but the coil whine issue is something I didn't consider. I'll keep a look out for any future deals you post; the NVIDIA deals are certainly tempting!

        • If it's just a HTPC, the lower end Radeon cards are not so bad with the coil while! In our experience its just the 7800XT and above that suffer. It can be mitigated in driver settings by capping the frame rates and lowering max clock boost speeds, but this is not a solution most customers are satisfied with, and the bloody settings have a tendency to reset every time the driver updates!
