It doesn't need to be 100% accurate. As long as it's 'consistent', you can use it to work out if you're losing or gaining weight.

    • After trying various brands, we found a Salter digital to be very accurate and consistent, it also has a rechargeable battery.

What you have to realise is that your weight does vary during the course of the day.
After a night's sleep, your weight will be less than when you went to bed due to the energy used to repair/maintain tissue while sleeping.

You cannot increase weight, unless you eat/drink something, because you cannot just gain mass from somewhere.

I like my friend's scale, says I weigh 6kg less than any of the scales in my house.

You want somone to guide you onto your bathroom scales?

    • no. I need to find a scale…

    Calibrate them…

    Use a known weight.

ie. neck up should register zero.

is that for me or just you?

    I think mine are Soehnle?

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/soehnle-shape-sense-connect-…

I regularly attend Drs and they are within 1-2kgs, bearing in mind Drs are used regularly and are old school mechanical. Home - naked, Drs - not

Also, remember to place same spot, weigh same time and dont weigh daily

      We must have different doctors.

  • Please share a price guide. There are plenty of good Eufy models at JB

Most scales are accurate. If it's showing wrong numbers, it's most likely your uneven floor

    Accurate scales on Amazon.au

Salter 145 BKDR Mechanical Doctor's Scales Analogue Fitness Scales

Salter also have a number of other accurate scales

    • Honestly, pretty much anything should be fine - even if the scale isn't accurate it will help with monitoring trends.

Bluetooth looks to require a bit of faffing around. Wifi may be a better choice of you want to record weight.

I have wifi scales(thanks Ozbargain 🙄) which uploads data and assigns to a user based on weight which is probably easier and requires less messing around with an app.

If using a smart scale, you may want to consider privacy implications.

Mine says 82.8, is that accurate?

    • +2

I think the last number should be where the first number is and vice versa.

      Hope this helps.

  • Any will do - accuracy is not typically that important, consistency is. They all tend to be reasonably consistent.

    Avoid smart scales.

    • Smart man

    • why's that?

I came here to check whether some scales are less accurate than others. Is that what you're suggesting?

I’ve always wondered what is the point of scales.

You know if you’re overweight, and you know if you’re healthy and living your best life. A scale won’t tell you anything you don’t know.

2 or 3 kg here or there isn’t going to make much difference.

For accuracy, I use my mum’s dog. He licks my foot, then eats some dried biscuits. The number of biscuits he eats x 10 is my weight in kg.

  • How do you know it's not accurate.what are you comparing it to.always weigh on a hard floor first thing on the morning after your ablutions.

    • I have two scales. looking for another one for another person.

  • I find this true for various brands. Position the scale so that the 4 foot are on the same piece of tile. If the tiles are uneven it will give you inaccurate result.
You can test this by shifting your weight to any one corner then check the numbers.

Checking your weight regularly is as important as taking measurements of your heartbeat rate. If you have a sudden drop or increase in weight then your body could be telling you something.

  • Beurer scales from Bunnings are good and reasonably priced.

Fast readout time, big clear numbers, repeatable measurements and within 0.1kg of the readings that they were getting in the hospital, when I crossed checked in the space of about 2 hours.
