I got mine for $20 by using method mentioned here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15811547/redir . basically you buy 2 games for $30 from jbhifi and trade them in at ebgames to get the games for free. I had $10 jb perks coupon so brought down the cost to $20.

Apparently games from 2 for $30 JB Hi-Fi Deal are starting to be excluded as per this comment

      • Thanks for pointing out the comments. I hadn’t had a chance to read them yet. I called EB Games yesterday morning to confirm the eligibility and completed the trade in on the same day.

      • -1

There are still games in the 2 for $30 lot that are still eligible.

    • Worth calling ahead though to make sure they accept the games you intend to buy from jb.

I brought a few of my existing ps5 games over and there was one they wouldn't accept (no more heroes 3)

    • See instore for list :(

      • Staff in ebgames would never show me their list. Where you getting these lists?

        • I am just repeating the terms on the ebgames website.
It ask us to go in store to view this list.

          • @congo: i went to a store. and they never showed me this list

            • @RQNinja: I asked but they won’t give it. Bought 2 Xbox games from JB for $30 and EBgames price for them is $8 each. Needs to be at least $10 each to qualified. Had to return the games to JB.

    • Thanks for the heads up on this deal. Didn't even know this was a thing. Cost me like $10 after finding a $20 Westfield gift card lying about. Have to keep an eye out for these deals in future.

  • Grab that brotherhood preorder and get free shipping and both games for $119 and change

What's the advantage of getting a physical copy over digital? Can't be bothered switching out cartridges. Does the digital one work without internet?

    • +2

Resale and generally cheaper (at some point in the future).

Also, you can display the physical on a shelf.

    • +10

You don’t own digital games basically you're renting them and once the e-shop closes all your digital purchases disappear for good.

      • +1

As long as I can play them offline then that should be fine. Chances of eshop closing are slim I think

        • They will shut it off eventually - The WiiU and 3DS stores shut down this year. In the case of the WiiU, barely 10 years after launch. In some ways its a moot point since both devices are completed rooted at this point so you can install whatever you want via the high seas. You don't lose access to anything previously downloaded, but there's no "official" or "legal" way to download your purchases on those platforms.

    • Physical games basically work forever. I can (and do) still play physical NES, SNES and Gameboy games on original hardware.

There’s a caveat, though… this isn’t the case when games ship half-baked and need a day one patch to work. But Nintendo rarely (if ever) pulls that trick. When you buy the physical game, you get a working product. And it will still work, no internet required, decades from now.

      • Until the cartridge breaks 😁

        • What are you doing to your cartridges?

  • Got lords of the fallen and way of the hunter ready to collect at JB to try this. Is it too late -__- should have done it yesterday lol!

  • Picked it up last night and tried a few minigames with the missus. Very fun games so far.

  • Thx OP for a copy to play with the misus

  • Nice find!

I been “demoing” this on emulator. Pretty fun

    • Which emulator? Android ?

  • I don't have Mario Kart 8 yet, should I buy that over this first? Main aim is local multiplayer split screen

    • +4

Both are a must have imo, would rather MK8 but just get the cheaper one first

      • Cool thanks will do

  • Thanks Op. used everyday rewards and everyday extras to get this for free!

  • Price match JB Hifi $64 from Target deal and use Perks voucher $10 off, then pay with discounted GC…. less than $52

  • $54 from target with free delivery with $10 off with newsletter sign up

  • Is this game playable alone? Or need to be played in a group?

    • 😢

    • There is single player content, a bit that has been specifically developed in a way older Party games didn't. But the full experience, and the fun, is playing this multiplayer.

  • I’ve got no Mario party games - start with this or one of the old ones?

    • +1

I think any of them are a good starting point. This one does add lots more boards and a mixture of mini games (non joy-con and joycon only). So far my kids have loved it

      • Nice thanks! Is there any overlap between, or is it all new games?

        • +1

I believe there are some repeat games, but my kids played through a lot of mini games at the beginning and a lot were not familiar to me. I haven't played through the previous Switch ones in full mind you, but I liked the fact that I didn't recognise the new games
