    $1.75 in ikea

    • +5

Not everyone has an IKEA nearby - but noted

      • +6

Funnily enough, I think my nearest Target is across the road from Ikea.

Might go to Ikea as Target doesnt serve meatballs.

        • +3

          You're a meatball?!

    • +1

But you also have to walk a thousand miles inside an IKEA.

  • Cheers op grabbed one !

    • Yea and it's 2$. I bought them and love it. I'm concerned about longevity but whatever

    • +3

      OzRRP strikes again

Yes they're what we call Aldi posts.

    • Catch will post to a PO box, target and Kmart won't.

  • +4

Don't like these. They will froth milk, but that's no substitute to steamed milk.

    • +1

So what is a substitute to steamed milk?

      • +15

        Steamed milk

      • +27

        Steamed Hams

      • +5

        Microwaved milk

        • +1

          Yep works for me.

Got a pod machine and microwave milk for 70s, give it a nice froth and latte arting.

Recommend frothing for about 15s after heating for flat white consistency

        • Microwaved milk + milk frother isn't too bad, I'm not sure why this whole thread went off on a tangent.

          • @TEER3X:

I'm not sure why this whole thread went off on a tangent.

            Welcome to the Internet. 😁

    • Nanofoamer works well. Just expensive.

      • $61!?

        Ooofffttt

        • It's expensive compared to the OP, but cheap compared to an espresso machine.

It's actually possible to make decent microfoam with it a nanofoam. With the $2 wand you can't. They also only take disposable batteries and go through them pretty quickly too.

          • @ezzaf: The $2 wand does just as well if you get the technique right.

            • @rambao9: Sure, if it has fresh batteries and you get it exactly right it does okay.

The Nanofoamer though can do it without replacing the batteries every week, and to a better consistency.

Some of it depends what you're looking for, if you want some foam to chuck on top of a cuppachino sure it'll do fine. If you want to make a good flat white or latte it struggles.

        • That's for the replaceable battery one. Which has bad reviews because as soon as the power even drops a bit the wand struggles. You need to pay $100 for the lithium one so you can keep it fully charged.

Or 249 for the nanofoamer pro which is a milk just that heats up and does everything for you.

Imo it's much too expensive just for nicely textured milk.

    • It is if you don’t like steamed milk.

    • They will froth milk

Yes that is their primary function.

    • Interestingly although the bubbles definitely aren't as fine, the milk itself tastes better because it hasn't been scalded by steam at 100 degrees.

  • Good for aerating red wine too

    • I do like my wine with a good frothy head on it.

    • +1

Yeah but have you tried hyper decanting

      • This would be easier to clean

  • Anyone's review on this or Ikea one? Got a cheap one from Shien once and it didn't hold enough power to actually work through 150ml milk.

  • +1

Got a similar one but rechargeable, use it to make Matcha tea.

  • +1

Already have this, but used to mix chemicals for sprays in the backyard (eg neem oil)

  • +2

I use this for hot chocolate and making gravy its great!

  • i have been using IKEA ones for the last 8 years. They are very good for $2.75 they last almost a year

    • +2

      Great "Produkt"!

    • You must exercise the proper technique

    • Use a small diameter cup. Also less volume of milk will equal easier frothing. If you have one that has higher speeds it'll also do the trick

    • +1

have it spinning just below the surface. Follow the surface level down as the meniscus shape forms.

So long as the spinning part is only slight covered by milk it doesn't matter how big the cup is, it always froths up heaps in less than a minute

    • use very little water (few drops) and use a spoon to mix. Coffee becomes creamy and then add your hot water

    • +1

The technique is to not buy such a cheap piece of junk

  • -1

At ordering page, it says that it's eligible for free delivery with one pass. At checkout it says that it's not eligible

tried again via a different route and it worked

  • good for pollinating tomatoes and other veg in the greenhouse,

  • +1

    Great for mixing protein shakes

    • Totally agree - I haven't touched a shaker bottle since discovering this thing.

  • You can also make fluffy pancakes(meringue) and mayonnaise with it!

  • +1

I have a similar device from eBay and it's pretty weak with rechargeable batteries, even alkaline. If only they took 18650 batteries for proper grunt. Even better, a mini egg beater, really get that blend action going.

  • How is this a 'hack' lmfao
We've been making coffee like this in Europe forever.

  • More Kmart landfill

  • 12% CR on $2.25??

    sigma ozbargain. 😭

  • Cheers op. I had one sitting on my Temu cart for awhile but this is faster.

  • dont dooo it get ikea one if can

    • Ikea 'Produkt' - $1.75

Tip- Go the service desk and ask where you find the produkts! Really fun conversation.

  • Been using this after steaming the milk with the Nespresso frother to get decent foam - the Nespresso frother doesnt work really well for me.

  • The froth is so overrated to me

But I do like my drink aerated makes it more enjoyable

  • +1

I was fedup of recharging batteries so I bought this from TEMU, which is rechargeable via USB-C and has 3 power levels. Going strong.

    • +1

the power placement on that seems more ergonomic too. no slide button and not on the very end of

  • +2

Everyone should have one of these.
Not for frothing milk, but for a variety of other things.

    Salad dressing? Mixed.
    Protein powder? Done.
    Metamucil? Regular.
    Wine? Aerated.
Degassing beer before taking a hydrometer sample? (That one's a bit specific). Flat!
Mini whirlpool for the kids? Entertained.

I'm surprised how much we use ours.

    • +3

      Wife? Happy

      • +1

        lol.

      • Haha, a tad aggressive but i like your thinking.

  • Awesome. I recall I received one from Amazon instead of my NVME drive once….

    • almost the same thing

  • awesome! good price to use as miniature model paint mixer!
