Seiko SSB445P Quartz Chronograph - 43mm, Sapphire, S/S, 100m WR $249 Delivered @ Starbuy

280

A nice price on a Seiko with sapphire glass and a quality quartz chronograph movement.

Note that Starbuy reached out to me privately to say the quantities shown on the web site only reflect what they have in the showroom but there is generally more stock in their warehouse location, which we don't see online. So, I guess even if it says zero available on the page it's worthwhile asking them anyway if you really want one.

Seems like a good deal for a Seiko chrono with sapphire but will wait & see what ChibsQT thinks, might not be as good as Daniel Wellington.

      • +1

I'd heard Chibie is Daniel Wellington's cousin.

        • +2

Daniel Wellington is more off grid than Satoshi Nakamoto.

          If you've read Daniel Wellington's backstory…

On this trip, our founder, Filip Tysander, met an intriguing British gentleman with impeccable yet understated style. The man had a particular fondness for wearing his vintage watches on old, weathered NATO straps. His name? Daniel Wellington.

Great watches, a few amazing pieces on sale like this Iconic Link Automatic 40mm for only $469.20 with 15% off

Sapphire, COSC in-house automatic movement, cyclops, bracelet will milled clasp, exhibiton caseback. Highly recommended.

Oh, I didn’t think when posting the deal how well this watch would stack up against the obvious awesomeness that is a cheap rebranded Alibaba Daniel Wellington watch. I should be more careful next time so I don’t end up looking like a numpty.

  • great looking watch, does anyone know if this suits small wrists ? thank you

    • The diameter is 43mm & lug-to-lug: 50.3mm, what's your wrist size?

      • my daily watch is the casio G-5600E-1 and it's perfect size

      • Massive watch and will look big as well without a thick bezel. However, it would look good on you.

Nice deal! Personally I'm hanging out for a repeat of their $579 deal on the Seiko SSC813P. Fingers-crossed it comes up again soon!

    • -1

How is the SSC813P better than this?

      • +1

        Lol how isn't it??

      • because it has panda face

      • There's a brief Reddit thread that covers the differences between the SSB and SSC range.

Note the SSC813P is 39mm vs this one being 43mm, so you have to decide if that suits you or not.

Ultimately, what you like matters as well! No point buying a watch just because everyone else thinks it looks good, if you think it's ugly and never end up wearing it!

  • Is this worth it the ught or is the panda better even though it's more costly? I am interested in getting a classy looking watch for when I need to look the part of you all know what I mean ? Like should I just spend some more on a SSC813P

    • +2

Just buy what you like & don't worry what others think. The panda is solar, this isn't.

      • It's not about what others think - I don't mind paying more if it's for something tangible and not just branding etc

    • +1

if you're a purist it'd be fine for all but the most formal of functions, but it's likely nobody other than yourself is going to notice the faux pas

    • More importantly, you've left us all hanging on the Mazda insurance thread. What did you decide?

    • +1

Did the Coutura join it's brethren at Cash Converters?

    • Panda
      And will hold its value

      • Which one is the panda?

        • SSC813P or SSC911P if you want bigger

          • @ihfree: How does the price get justified? Why does it cost 3 - 6 times more than this watch?

            • @BargainHunterJohnnyB: Late response to this -

There is a level of market segregation and branding involved in the increased cost.

Beyond that, you'd be looking at things such as:

              • movement(in this case Solar Powered)
              • the quality of materials - bezel material
              • details on the dial - applied vs printed
              • level of finish of the watch
              • bracelet quality
              • design
  • This is very nice, but I simply must not buy any more watches! :p

    • Never say never 🤭

      • His time is up!
