The Expedition® watches have been an outdoor-adventure mainstay for years now, and this update brings fresh appeal to a trail-ready classic. Featuring our much-loved INDIGLO® backlight and luminescent hands on the military-inspired dial, it’s as easy to read at midnight as it is at high noon. And thanks to the stainless-steel case that’s water resistant to 100 meters, this sturdy watch with a brown natural leather strap will go the distance when you take it on your next adventure — rain or shine, mountain or valley, and everything else in between.

Timex Group is an American global watch manufacturing company founded in 1854 as the Waterbury Clock Company in Waterbury, Connecticut. Timex are watchmakers. Over 165 years ago, the idea of the impossible kicked off their long history of passion and innovation. Timex moved timekeeping from the pocket to the wrist, travelled to space, kept time for presidents and movie stars and elite athletes. Today Timex is synonymous with a reputation for being the people’s watch maker. Innovations and designed starting with what the people are asking for at a price they can afford.

My VPN is a but sketchy but it looks like this model is sold out most places in Australia. There's also a Black Dial for $134.10 (5 left)

A few nice Timexes on sale that don't have the minimum quantity to post: https://watchdirect.com.au/collections/timex

Like this Timex Deepwater Reef 200M GMT 41mm with sapphire

inb4 @ChibsQT DW comment (great trolling btw), here are some Daniel Wellingtons

Still deciding whether to drop $1k on a couple Timexes and a rose gold Mondaine, or get this 100th sec Speedtimer LE even though I have 3 Screamtimers already. But not an all black one.

@ChibsQT is this better than a Daniel Wellington?

I love the UFC Combat watch and there’s some other nice pieces there.

There are some amazing DWs on sale

I’m sure there are but they are way out of my league. I’m hoping to inherit one from my grandfather.

Hopefully he hasn't hidden it in the one place he knew he could hide something…

Honestly never really had much interest in Timex. Always kinda viewed them as a cheap quartz watch brand (which, they do have many of, but still). But the general consensus is they are smashing it out of the park with their designs lately. The Deepwater Reef 200 Titanium Automatic (sadly, not on sale here) ticks an AWFUL lot of boxes for me…..

    • That's nice. I think it's sold out most places

      • Right? Automatic. Titanium. Sapphire. SuperLuminova. Looks like they are trying to be a bit of a market disruptor.

The movement isn't that great though. $800-900AUD is a bit too high with a Miyota 8whatever. A Fujitsubo has similar specs and Duratech or whatever titanium with bracelet, and is $700 with a Miyota 9XXX

          • @rosebank: I mean, that is RRP. Who here on OzB pays retail for watches? :-P

            • @ASR-Briggs: Good luck getting that for under RRP

              • @rosebank: I mean, OBVIOUSLY, not at this exact point in time since it's literally brand new. But everything goes on sale eventually.

                • @ASR-Briggs: Really depends on the watch. I try to buy all my watches on sale, but sometimes you have to pull the trigger at RRP, like a GS LE. I tried to get a pink snowflake, found the last one at a store in Brisbane but the staff were snobby af so f them, I'll buy a different watch from an AD that treats customers better.

Anyway, I don't this Timex will reach sale pricing before selling out.

This isn't bad for $340, similar price to a Fugu, nice cw, and prob a quartz Ronda 515 GMT?

          • @rosebank: That's got to be one of the worst renders I've seen in a long time

Edit: and to prove my point, here's an article with some pictures of the real thing. Oodles better IRL.

The regular one is not bad lookiing at all, I can't imagine where they got the inspiration for the wavy line dial. Sub-$350 at WD.
And that titanium model - I'd wear that with no brand shame at all, it looks fab and Seiko charge a bunch more for 4R-powered watches so let's have no Miyota 8215 snobbery.

            • @Astronaut Joe: I just got a red bezel fugu for $355 with a 8215. You wouldn't have been able to buy that titanium Timex model on sale anyway. So no snobbery, just comparing similar watches with similar price-points with the fujitsubo.

I have over a dozen Timexes, my last 2 deals are Timexes.

If I was a brand snob I'd have a bunch of rollies, omegas and shit. I have neither, but I do have grand seikos and citizen 8s. My first expensive auto was an ikepod hemipode, who on here even knows what that is?

              • @rosebank:

I think we studied them in biology once

p.s. was referring to some of the generalised snobbery that sometimes appears ("yuk, cheap entry level movement blah blah")

  • Would be more useful if their prices weren't 30% higher than starbuy
