  • For a lightweight pan, you would think that they'd advertise the weight.

  • 860 Grams

I had this, then returned it.
The surface area was small due to the sloping sides and it was not what I'd call lightweight

Most cast iron pans of the same dimension are ~2.5kg, so it's about a third the weight of your average CI

      • Could it feel heavier because of the longer handles than most cast iron pans?

        • +2

Grabbing something further away from it's centre of mass would make it feel heavier, yeah.

Though I can't lift my Lodge CI with one hand using it's stubby handle either way.

The pan in this listing weighs about as much as a stainless steel/non-stick pan of the same size, so if someone where assuming it's lightweight compared to those, they would be understandably disappointed

@meeowth: I try to lift them with one hand and the silicone covers but it's not ergonomic/well designed so the helper handle makes a big difference. Never understood why they didn't make the handles longer

It does have a bit of a non-stick appearance so I can understand why it might confuse someone if they hadn't used cast iron before

I got the kmart one a few weeks ago and very happy with it https://www.kmart.com.au/product/29cm-cast-iron-frypan-43037… $18

    • Ah yes I have this and would also recommend this, works well for steaks.

  • I just weighted my Aldi 28cm CI, 3kg.
