We bought these last year and happy with it.
As other reviews mention, sometimes the light flickers a little bit when using the dimmer.

    • +1

Mine still flickers every few min when turned on. I also have prev DC Aldi version (yellow led only) that have no such issues and been using it for almost 6yrs.

    • +1

I have four of them and every now and again they all flicker at the same time. It's very odd

      • it's the ghosts !

      • Maybe ripple control

  • +1

Just keep in mind if its recalled (become a normal occurrence with electrical gear), you will wear all the costs spent for professional install and removal.

    • +3

Yeah seems like a lot of stuff gets recalled by Aldi… surprise surprise…

      In-home Warranty

Assuming it’s been installed by a qualified electrician and you have invoice proof , it should be on aldi’s suppliers techies to come over and remove/remedy

      • No they don't.
I had the stove from Aldi, only replace it. Need to ask someone to silicon to seal it.

Are these a 'fast' fan or more of a Brilliant brand 'slow' fan?

  • Everyone will an electrician by the time this deal runs out!

  • +2

If these are like the past ones where the led lights will start flickering! No thank you! I still have 2 of them and the led flickers on/off like a disco bar after a while.
I since got one alternate one from Kogan branded DC ceiling fan and they are great for the same price.

  • +2

I got one from the last sale and it has been working great so far. Light on every night (obviously) and no flickering just yet. Fan is quite as expected of DC. Cost me $220 including GST to get installed by a local sparky

  • +4

price for fan $150, price to get it installed $1000

Got a quote from electrician to install for $400 inc. Gst

    • +2

In Brisbane, got 3 separate quotes for $750, $800 and $1000 its insane.

      • Thats crazy, I would rather use a pedestrian fan.

      • To install how many fans?

    • Certainly cheap enough, reviews would be nice. Prefer plastic blades personally though easier to clean and no chance of warping / moisture absorption.

  • +1

Did bunnings match with an equvalant last time ?

    • I can’t remember actually! The arlec Boston ii id imagine would be equivalent, which is what I’ve got installed in most rooms so hoping it is

  • Installed one last year. LED array was always a tad on - not completely black/out. So I unplugged it as I did not need it anyways.
But if you get an electrician to fit these, maybe better to spend a bit extra and get better quality one.
Otherwise happy with noise and performance.

I highly recommend these ceiling fans! I purchased three of them 4 years ago on clearance for $80 each, and they're still running smoothly. However, I learned a valuable lesson during installation - HIRE A PROFESSIONAL! I had a nasty fall and dislocated my shoulder, ending up in the hospital. If you're not experienced with electrical work, please don't risk it. The savings aren't worth the potential harm. Spend the extra money and hire a qualified electrician. Trust me, your safety is worth it!

This comment reads like an undecover electrician trying to convince people not to DIY

I think falling would disqualify you from many DIY activates.

I have about 5 fans to be installed in my new home in Perth, how much would be a reasonable quote for installation?

    • +1

Whatever figure you have in your head then triple it.

Is there already electrical provision for the fans or is this a complete after thought?

      • Already have a provisions for fans.

        • +1

I would be looking for quotes around $1k all up but I'm not sure what the going rate in Perth would be.

Any recommendations on low profile DC fans? Need fans but low ceilings

    • Don’t have an answer but also looking!

    • These https://www.calibo.com.au/range/profile fans sit incredibly close to the ceiling, with the blades extending just 165mm down. What impresses me most is that they can still move up to 12,081m³/hr of air, which is remarkable for a flush-mounted fan.

  • Big fan of this deal.

    • If you let this deal blow past you, it will come around again.

  • I have installed similar fans before (and more complicated, not remote but fixed wall control). Not particularly hard once you understand the wiring diagram.

The good thing about these remote ones is that it would work with most basic light wiring. I'm sure there are tutorials on how to fixed these on. Basically:

    • drill ceiling to secure brackets
    • connect wiring (live, neutral, earth)
    • mount and close
    • sync remote control to fan
  • Does anybody knows what is the airflow for this fan ? I couldn't find any info on the Aldi website link.

    • They’re not the best but ok for a small room

  • Have these from last year.
The flickering is a thing when choosing yellow light at minimum brightness.
Also, it doesn't go off 100%. There is a very very very faint glow when it's off.
The fans themselves worked absolutely fine. The light is nice and bright. The only annoyance is that when I turn them on at the wall, I have to then get the remote and turn the fan on again. The fan doesn't just start up by itself.

Paid $300 per fan install in Sydney.

    • Also, it doesn't go off 100%. There is a very very very faint glow when it's off.

So don't use it as a bedroom light then?

The only annoyance is that when I turn them on at the wall, I have to then get the remote and turn the fan on again. The fan doesn't just start up by itself.

That happens I think with any fan, even my Arlec ones don't auto start.

      • "That happens I think with any fan"
Fanco Eco Silent returns to both light and fan settings it was on when wall switch is switched back on (so make sure not full speed and brightness set when switching off wall switch)
        .

  • What happens when the led bulb blows on these? I’m assuming it’s not a replaceable bulb so the whole fan needs to come off and be replaced?

    • They don’t have a build they have a heaps of individual leds

  • Anyone know what height they extend down from the ceiling? Can’t find detailed measurements online.

Bunnings have price beat with the Brilliant 132cm one —— https://www.bunnings.com.au/brilliant-132cm-white-matt-grace…

    • What was price of this before?

      • I think $159 i believe.

  • Showing ‘expecting delays’. Did anyone saw in Aldi?

    • I found them in my Aldi this week - a month late.

I'll be returning the three I purchased. The light doesn't turn off completely. Reading product review (and here) it is clear this is a known issue and they sell them anyway. While they will repay the purchase price they really should be up for consequential losses when selling a known faulty product.
