I was looking at this last night.

The same model brand/series is also on offer $134.57, but is CL36

An extra $12.12 for CL30 makes this a crazy price. RRP normally around $179

Talk about meant to be. Ordered, thanks OP

can anyone do a quick current good gaming build for 2k? Just ordered this

    • asked chatgpt:
      AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition (Air Cooler)
MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi (AM5 Socket for Ryzen)
      AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (16GB GDDR6)
      Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
Corsair RM750x 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular
      NZXT H510 Flow Mid Tower

I wouldn't be buying a 6800 XT brand new personally.

CPU cooler, eh, get a Thermalright spirit 120 for a basic 120 or go bigger

        Everything else looks fine.

        • +1 for a Thermalright CPU cooler. The Peerless Assassin 120 is like $50 on Amazon and is crazy value.

          • @bAps: +2

phantom spirit over peerless assassin for a couple bucks more and slightly better performance.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is quite expensive right now. Depends on the game you play you might want to switch to a lower tier CPU and allocate more budget to GPU.
Also some of the prebuild in posted in OzB arent too bad

        • +2

Yeah 100% - I'd go a 7600X and put the extra money towards a 4070ti / super - however high up you can go before hitting your budget

    • +1

Here you go - $1922 at current prices. I've added the GPU as a 4070 super, but if you can afford to spend more, or if you can find a better deal, go up the ranks - 4070TI would be next, then 4070 TI Super. personally I'd spend an extra couple hundred and get a 4070TI Super

Pretty solid list - could probably swap the wd with a p3 plus for some savings there, casewise could also cut some cost and go for a decent montech that GN has reviewed recently

Instead of a 4070ti super could also consider a 7900xtx if ya dont care for RT, or DLSS 3.0 - raster performance is considerably better.

      • I read somewhere that the X version of AMD CPUs aren't really worth it for gaming

    • at 2k minus the ram you should be looking at a mid range ryzen with a 4070 ti super.

  • Thanks. Ordered this yesterday @ $164. Was able to cancel and reorder for cheaper price.

  • great price. thanks for sharing

I have previously ordered a very similar kit, but the code is slightly different. The one in this post ends in Z30 and the one I ordered previously ends in C30. Anyone know the difference? Quick google yielded this which talks about C30 being AMD optimised and Z30 being Intel optimised. Does that sound right? I had used the C30 for an AMD build and it seemed fine.

    • I believe 'optimised' is generally just another way of saying perhaps it's been tested working well with 'x' platform? Not that it'd work any worse I guess? That's my guess

    • +3

I believe Z is AMD optimised and C is intel optimised

      • Assume it'd work correctly for AMD anyway even if Intel optimised right?

        • If it has the EXPO profile then it will automatically overlock (when setting enabled) on AMD motherboard.
If it only has XMP then there is more manual fiddling, but it can do the advertised speeds.

Not all ram bothers to support both XMP and EXPO.
Since the current AMD chips cap out at 6000 they don't waste better performing ram on EXPO kits, they divert all of those to 6400 etc XMP kits. So it would be extremely rare to see any ram capable of better than 6000 30 with an EXPO profile.

          • @joelmuzz: Ahh ok so the 6400 I just bought from comments above is slightly overkill for a future AMD system haha

            • +1

              @Duplicity: For current AMD yes.
Don't set beyond 6000 since what happens is the chip will then clock it down to half so 6001 is much worse than 6000.

    • +3

Checking on Corsairs website, it looks like Z has both XMP and EXPO performance profiles, and C only has XMP profiles. So the timings on your C RAM might just not be 100% ideal for your Ryzen, but if it works I wouldn't worry about it. Likely to only be an issue if you try to overclock the memory.

Also it seems C is black while Z is grey.

Apart from that, they have the exact same technical specs.

  • Thanks OP. Just what I needed. Ordered.

  • Is DDR5 6000MHz the optimal setup? Is it worth going higher speed for future proof? I found I do reuses my old DDR4, e.g. building a new file servers and there is time the old RAM is too low spec for the file server.

    • +3

6000mhz is fine. No need to go faster unless the price is the same.

    • +3

Depends on CPU. It might have changed but when 7800X3D released it didn't seem to like anything over 6000mhz. Also, with that CPU it's important to have lower latency like this model (CL30)

    • I got 6000 but I don't even bother to turn it on.

  • Does anyone know if the delivery estimate for international shipping is accurate?
Shows 5-6 Nov for me ;(
Fingers crossed, it would be quicker.

    • +2

It's usually fairly accurate, not uncommon to come a couple of days earlier but probably never a week earlier

    • +2

In the few times I've ordered international, I've had things arrived always sooner, either a few days or a week~ but YMMV and this could also be heavily item dependent.

These are excellent kits! I’m currently using the C30 version designed for Intel, while the Z30 variant is tailored for AMD systems. Either version should function well on AMD boards, but I recommend checking your motherboard’s QVL (Qualified Vendor List) just to ensure compatibility.

    • This looks just as good and can be found in white!

    • up the volts and raise the CL a bit and this would prob hit 7000.

    • That even better deal, quicker delivery.

  • My ram turned up today, one of the sticks was damaged-bent with the heat sink separating from the ram. I did install it and it posted no problem but memtest gave 2 errors in 5 mins. Back to amazon it goes.
