Damn they're some great pans at a super discount price.

Made in France too is a nice touch.

  • +1

Are these just for induction or can i use on a gas cooktop?

    • can be used on gas

    • +5

      From Tefal's page Product Description:

COMPATIBLE WITH ALL HOBS - Including induction

    • i think, you can cook all pans with gas and electric cooktop, but not all do induction. so that is why they label it so you know you have the choice to also do induction.

You can use new account promo code "THANKYOU15" to get anither 15% off.

        • -1

Yeah, I just checked again; working now.

      • Just came to post this. It is working

        • Can't hurt using the code as with code works out cheaper. Great if tracks, else, no hard feelings lol!

    • Legend!

    • +1

Thanks $85 delivered can't go wrong

    • Just ordered with that code, thank you!

    • Thank you - THANKYOU15 works for me :-)

  • +1

    good pans?

    • +2

Been using mine for at least more than a year. Though the only comment I’d make is those pans have scratched my induction top

    • It's pretty good; if not overheating and hand washing can last more than a year.

      • -2

I was of the understanding the dishwasher is actually more gentle than handwashing, but who knows?

    • Last Tefal I had last about 2-3 years before entirely using its non-stick. Good life time for a cheap pan

      • Happy to wait that long for non-stick at this price

        • Sorry meant losing* not using

  • +1

    Bought Thanks :)

  • Thanks OP and nico8amy, ordered with THANKYOU15 bringing it down to $85!

  • We don’t really need them, but placed an order anyway! Thanks heaps!

      A true Ozbargainer

      • Feeding the over consumption disease

  • Awesome, thanks!

  • Does anyone know what metals these pans are made of?

    • Is that really a reason to neg a deal though?

      • -7

Yeah because these are not cheap they are overpriced even for three and they don't last.

    • I’ve cooked steak, fried rice, chicken curry on these Tefal pans and they seem like it does the job as well?

      • You can cook anything in any pan but it doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job.

For steak, nonstick really shouldn't be used at the temperatures a steak needs to form a crust.
You will also not get even browning as the steak has much less surface area in contact with the pan.

Same thing with fried rice, why do you think Chinese restaurants use woks instead of a row of nonstick pans?

    • +1

Stainless steel are great for cooking at a very high heat so food doesn't stick, but what about when you need to cook something at a lower heat a bit slower, like something marinated you don't want to burn? Seems to always stick for me.

      • +3

You have to let the pan warm up well then turn it to the temperature you want. There's no perfect time but you'll know from experience depending on your stove how quickly it heats up. Google leidenfrost effect. I cook eggs with mine and have no problem. Even just the $20-25 IKEA one. People can neg all they want just to validate themselves purchasing a "deal"

      • Isn’t it the other way? SS pans always stick at high heat. As I switched from non-stick, I learned patience and not to blast the stove at full flame.

        • +11

Stainless steel pans(and the oil) needs to he preheated to a high enough temp to become nonstick. Low temp or too high temp will both cause sticking.

Kobeduck is right but honestly it's mostly people that don't know how to control heat that use nonstick pans for every dish(like most of our parents)

Once you learn to use carbon steel/cast iron plus stainless it's hard to go back to nonstick.
they really don't last long(they are pretty much disposable) whereas carbon steel/cast iron/stainless steel will safely last a lifetime with care.
For a community of frugal people there really should be less interest in non durable items that have a relatively short lifespan.

          • @Phesto: Totally agree with @Phesto. Worth spending some time learning how to use stainless steel/carbon steel pans as they are far superior and so much cheaper in the long run.

Every non stick pan I have used always ends up sticking as they can't handle any heat above 120+ and the coatings get damaged from too much direct heat

            • +2

@r33tom: And even if it sticks on a stainless steel, you just put boiling water and it cleans so much easier than non stick and even cast iron.

          • @Phesto: Did you use lots of oil with SS pan?
YouTube videos that I've seen demonstrating SS non-stickiness always drenching foods in butter / oil :(

            • @OzBestDeal: No you don't need a lot, once the pan is heated the oil is very viscous and will spread evenly across the pan. You only need enough to have a thin layer.
You definitely need more oil than with nonstick but you're sacrificing better cooking(due to the oil filling in gaps that don't contact the cooking surface) for less oil.

Description should be THANKYOU15, not WELCOME15. It says welcome15 is not applicable for this item

Guys, please don't use nonstick pans for your health!!

    • +1

      Elaborate please

      • -1

Just read an article about the non-stick material can get into ur sperm and it is highly related to worse sperm counts/quality/vitality compared to other micro plastics… But not sure if it is the same material used in these pans.

        • Which material is that? They no longer use PTFE.

      • A lot if information on the web and I've been told by many.
Not worth it if you can use cast iron, stainless/carbon steel. It will also last a lifetime over non stick.

Long time user of tefal in the past but quality has gone down hill. The pan started to "stick" after 6 months, they used to last 1-2 years.

And yes to the comment, it's about reproduction issues that i read about. It's just not worth it. (In before, "I've used it my whole life and I'm fine…"

    • +11

Yeah good one trying to scare us so you can buy more, cheapass

    • -1

Yeah right! You sound like my Doctor telling me to stop smoking and drinking for my health. Craaaaaazy.

  • -1

Do you need a induction stove top for this or is a standard element one fine?

    • +1

If it works on induction it will work on anything else

  • Bought 2 sets, great buy at $85

A source of Teflon microplastics in people's diet?

    • Seasoned cast iron is the way to go

    • +2

No just PFAs which is probably even more nasty than micro plastics.

And what's even dodgee is alot of the advertisment stating it's PFOAs free which is a type of PFA. They just replaced it with PTFE which is part of the PFAs family. And all PFAs are bad for you.

Basically there is no such thing as safe non stick coating.

      • +1

The non-stick material in these pans is always PTFE or Teflon. In the past, PFOA was used to help make PTFE, but it’s now banned because of health and environmental risks. These days, PTFE is made using other methods, so there’s no PFOA left in the pans. However, we don't know much about the safety of ingesting PTFE. When a pan is scratched, small particles of PTFE (which can be treated as microplastics due to its polymer nature) can be released and potentially eaten, but the health effects of this aren’t fully understood yet.

      • I tried to warn people above. But people choose to ignore it! Don't use non stick anything!!!!
