Hi all,

Starting one for the QLDers OZB in Sunnybank, South of Brisbane
Come and celebrate OzBargain's 18th birthday in Sunnybank QLD

Will be capped to 30 people at this stage and Details below :

Date: Saturday, 30 November 2024

Time: 1130 am QLD time

RESERVATION NAME : OZB 18 birthday

Note OZB will cover the buffet of 45 dollars, anything else you order, it would be self funded.

Rules :

  • Make sure you have an ozbargain account and register for this event if you are coming. Each registration per attendees is needed
  • Please pay refundable deposit of 5 dollars to confirm your registration - will DM regsitered people ~1 week prior
  • 5 dollars will be refunded if cancellation notice are given before 28 Nov 2024 - 12 pm

Info :

  • OZB is paying up to 45 dollars for lunch buffet , should you wish to purchase drinks or anything else, it will be self-funded
  • If you bring Kids, 5 years & under are FREE
  • However by you bringing kids age 6 & above , you have consented to pay for your kids age 6 & above years old direct to restaurant
  • If you are bringing kids to the event, make sure you let me know so we can make seat adjustment needed. Kids will not be covered by ozb

You can attend at most two events that you are not organising. We did have that clause last year but we still have quite a few people attending 5+ events, so we will be putting a hard cap this year, i.e. you won't even be able to click on "Yes I am attending" if you are already registered for 2 events.

OzBargain meetups are strictly users only this year. In the past there were some leniency for partners, children or other family members that don't have OzBargain accounts. However for this year we decided that one must have an OzBargain account to be part of the meetup.

We won't allow "new accounts" from participating in meetups either. In the last couple of years we had accounts created just to have free meals at OzBargain meetups, and then never logged in again.

    Hi OP,
    Any chance of extending the CAP as I know a number of people would love to attend this 18th Birthday Meetup @ Ren Yakiniku.

      I was trying to think of anywhere Southside that could accomodate like 20 people without having to book it out, but in a format where people could mingle and talk without shouting - and you know what? I can’t think of any lol

        Can you just do like the Runcorn tavern or Lucky Star tavern? Plenty of pub like venues to just rock up and mingle

    West End Lunch 1pm Sat 16/11 is proposed if there is enough interest.

    *Limit of 2 free events per member!

        Interest in Registering for this Sunnybank event has fallen😉 There's no availability!

        I was near end of long wait list here when this was only event.

        People cancelled & Registered for other events. Like I did.
        (Registration is limited to maximum of 2 events. Even if just on wait list!)

        Likely numbers will drop when comes time to commit - to pay the refundable deposit! That's why the deposit was introduced.

        As other events fill up, then the proposed West End event might be a possibility.

        It's a different style of event, larger numbers, with different style of food etc.

        *Smaller events mean it's possible to have more social interaction between members.
