    • Didn't take long for someone to share. Just to show people on Ozbargain likes looking at the news as much as at a bargain.

        I don't get the artice…
        * Is their argument that because it can happen to Samsung and LG that it's not as bad as the ABC made it out to be?
        * Is their argument that because it hasn't happened locally it's OK? The ABC were not able to identify any cases of Ecovacs robotic vacuum cleaners being able to be hacked locally by people other than a professional hacker who in their case was based in Germany.
        * Also parts read like ads: In the latest $2,999 LG Electronics CordZeroAll-in-One Tower Combi vacuum cleaner LG use a 360-degree LiDAR Sensor that scans the surroundings six times per second up to a radius of 8 meters.

Doesn't seem like trustworthy article. The situation is being handled very poorly by Ecovacs is what annoys me about the issue, not the issue itself. My next vacuum will need to be supported by Valetudo.

Only the X2 Series has this vulnerability, which will be corrected in November via an OTA firmware update.

No other ECOVACS models are affected

There's only model impacted and the next fix is next month. Good thing they're onto it right? Good handling. Bad handling would be continuously refusing to fix the issue.

However it is a reminder of how everything we have is at risk of being exposed to hackers and the government.

My next vacuum will need to be supported by Valetudo.

That's what I was searching for earlier as it tells you who the main manufacturers are for a lot of vacuums. I'll have to go flash mine.

          • @Clear: Governments should only care if conducting a criminal investigation and with the right authorisation…..but I digress.

Don’t connect the thing to the internet and use the provided remote control problem solved no?

i would prefer roborock rather than ecovacs base on my experience

    • I do

    • I just sent back the Roborock Q7 as it refused to connect to our wifi. Reddit is full of people tormented by this issue.

      Looks nice, though.

I have two of these units. They work great, I am surprised by how much dust it picks up each day. Don't believe the half price deals though, these are standard prices.

    • Not exactly half price of the regular price, but still well discounted.

  • FYI. If you see same price on the ecovacs website - you may call them and they may give a code for additional discount. Got 5% off on what I wanted and was able to use bonus points as well. So double benefit. Enjoy.
